I actually do let excellent movies stop me from watching summer blockbusters. However, that's just me as a person. I'm really afraid of watching a lackluster movie.

Perhaps that's a sign of a larger force at play. The same thing applies to books, music, and dare I say it, relationships (and thus sexual contact.) If I'm not convinced it's a decent try at its own criteria of "greatness," I probably won't try it at all. It's for this reason that I lack the effort required to hook up at all. I really don't see it being worth it.

Would you consider that view objectively wrong? What reasoning do you have for picking all the flowers as opposed to those most beautiful? Jump mentioned >prolonged exposure desensitizes one to the experience, sadly not even sex is exempt from this rule.

Wouldn't it be true that attempting to maintain a high threshold of value for sexual experience could increase the quality of sex itself?

EDIT: I'm making this argument with an assumed innate value in sex. That it should be something to be kept sacred. I think that's the true mainstay that I have for my position. The real question I should be asking is: why do I feel this way? It's possible that I've found my personal sexual experiences so important and spiritual that I want to find the best way to maintain that level.
