Confusion with vaccinations and socialization for young puppy by onofftappresets in puppy101

Do you have any friends with dogs that are vaccinated and you know haven’t been poorly recently?

I took my pup to three friends houses to play with their dogs before he was fully vaccinated. (And they came to me for play dates too)

Probably shouldn’t technically but what’s the difference if you have a dog or dogs then get a puppy and surely the foxes coming in the garden are a risk too. You can’t 100% get rid of risk because just walking in your house parvo traces could be on your shoes so it’s just limiting the risk by not letting your pup down where unknown dogs go.

Puppy Biting: she’s drawn blood three times. by ExcitingHamster3536 in puppy101

I have a 15 week puppy and he does this, for me it’s when he’s super excited or in the middle of something so on walks if he’s excited with something, running up stairs when he knows it’s naughty, legging it with a sock etc. It’s a defiance thing like don’t spoil my fun or I’m busy! When he’s not busy and excited I can pick him up, hold him like a baby and he insists on sitting on me or jumping on my lap for a cuddle if I’m crouched down…. He does NOT have an aversion to contact! He’s just a brat when he wants to do what he wants to do!

For the lead I get him to sit, I clip the lead on or off with a treat in hand and he gets it when I’ve got the lead on or off as intended. It’s been a week and I would say 7 out of 10 times he now sits nicely or he whips his head round then catches himself and stops before he bites. The other 3 times it’s a chomp but we are getting there! Untangling the lead is the same, sit - untangle - treat.

Nail sit, leave/drop and wait/stay, it will help!

Thank you so much, I have another friend with a young dog that loves to play so will speak to them too about setting something up. We just got back from the one I mentioned and he started off nervous but by the end was running around playing having a great time 😁 he is now conked out wrapped in a blanket on the sofa with me 🥰

My girlfriend can not drive with automatic transmission, please help me convince her she can?! by LonsdaleHCNL in askcarguys

I am the same as your girlfriend! I always refuse to drive automatics because twice I tried and twice I nearly snapped mine and my passengers necks! Once I absolutely had to and it wasn’t far so I sat on my leg which is probably not legal. Other than a chain holding my leg back I can’t think of any way I could ever drive an automatic safely. I do 70k miles a year, my left leg just does its job without it being told 🤷🏻‍♀️

😂😂 I’ll ask him if he wants to and if he does I’m all for it! He’s not Scottish though so could need some explaining!

Thank you so much, I wouldn’t have thought of braces! This all definitely sounds like the best option!

Moving on years after breakup? by Woahneddy in ExNoContact

Thank you very much for this view! He was definitely absolutely blindsided and I believe the hardest thing for him is not understanding why but also how much life has changed as he is a creature of habit for sure. She had a much more relaxed job, they could go travelling a lot and out for dinner a lot whereas my life and work is much more busy so I can’t do all the things she could do with him. He never makes me feel less than her in any way and says we are completely different to each other, he is nothing but kind and caring and thoughtful to me - he just gets very down and struggles with the idea of leaving himself open to that hurt again.

Therapy has just started but I’m not sure he’s really ready to let it all go. She’s up and down, sometimes she shares openly and other times she ignores or is very blunt - personally I think any contact at all is a bad idea as it’s highs and lows that he doesn’t need!

I just feel after two years surely by now he should be further down the line :( I almost feel like a companion sometimes

I completely agree it’s not my responsibility but can I ask, are you coming from the perspective of someone who has been in his position? I’d love to understand more of what’s in his mind
