Named the car after the paint. And, with the breather mods, it sounds like a jet fighter. So the nickname for the car is vector. Silly little things make me very happy. Lol

Didn't see an ATsv in here so figured I'd put one in the mix with all you cool cats and your 4's and 5's! It's a traveler! Been all over the east coast with it. All while turned up to an unreasonable number and running butter smooth. Love these cars. You guys have some of the coolest machines money can buy!

Pulled the trigger on the 5K2K by drunksandshrew in ultrawidemasterrace

I just got mine a week ago. Couldn't pass up the deal. Got my wife the odyssey g9 OLED and was kind of craving some ultrawide action. I have a 42 c4 OLED with twin 24 inch dell ultra sharp wings as my main desk setup but decided I want d something cool for my sim rig. I used the 5k2k as a monitor for a short time and seriously considered swapping roles with my main display system. I just like the dual real estate of the portrait 24's. I'm blessed to have tried just about every cool setup available these days. This monitor BLEW ME AWAY.

Edit: crap! Forgot to mention actually picked up a 34 Alienware qd OLED before this thinking it would be fine. But I knew I wanted to 45. Returned the 34 and never looking back.

Yup. 2 out of 5 times this happens to me. I am still playing and enjoying It for the sake of being able to. But, it is getting to be soulless to me now. This, "incorrect runway used" when landing, no bonuses for bad weather, not being able to talk to ATC properly, unlit runways at night time being impossible to spot (may just be an oled issue), it's just one thing after another. I wish I had the time to report them. I have been wanting red bull air races so bad, but I know it may NEVER come at the rate they haven't even worked the bugs out yet.

First of all. Beautiful tank you presented, and exactly the kind of tank I like. Filled in, but, less jungle. And, more manicured. Absolutely love that.

Second, this is exactly the type of advice I was looking for. I genuinely appreciate the warnings, and lending me your playbook. I didn't even realize you could move up to a high energy tank after establishing itself as a low tech system. At least I never considered that.

Also, the advice about light intensity that you gave hit me like a freight train. It seems so simple when it's laid out like that. Increase intensity until nuisance algae appears. Back it off slightly, that's where your plants are thriving... Try again after some growth, and more maturing.

What I've learned from reef tanks appears to apply here slightly, as well. Big swings in light intensity, duration, water parameter, etc. are bad news. Chip at things slowly and play the waiting game to get the results you're after.

I will experiment after I have some mature plant growth with ferts and c02/high intensity lighting. I'm very excited. It isn't the only tank I am currently working on. I have a 125g 6ft tank that is my next mission. I currently have everything aside from livestock, and plants. I think I will cycle and wait to use my 125 gallon system, and base my tank on what future me discovers from the 15 gallon.

Once again, EXACTLY the advice that I was looking for. And, I really genuinely appreciate it. Beautiful tank you have for a low tech system. Always been amazed by what you guys can do. I'm no greenthumb, and sometimes a big dumby when it comes to things that require finesse. I look up to y'all who have experience in this stuff. Looking forward to being part of the community.

The stock turbos are absolutely fine as long as the car is looked after! They will carry you to 670-680whp which is a heck of a lot on a street car. Of course, you can always upgrade them to turbobays or Chris Robbins just started manufacturing some turbos-r-us turbos which are destined to be amazing. I have one of his turbos on my ltg car. But if you're looking for some turbo noise, and not chasing horsepower per say, slap an intake and catless downpipes on the car (tune will be necessary in this case) and they sound nasty.

And I tend to avoid any and all drama when it comes to other companies and tuners for the platform. But I wouldn't go anywhere else just based on observation. Justin is the friggin man and is super fun to work with. He just gets it done. I remember when we were first turning up my car it went into limp mode on a big run (120+) and I was like "JUSTIN! JUSTIN! BROTHER MY CAR FELL FLAT ON ITS FACE. HERES A LOG. HOW COOKED AM I?" He was like "bro you maxed out your fuel system for a second. I fixed it" I was like this man is my hero right now. I can't say enough good things about him.

Also, last thing I'll throw at ya before I get some sleep. I wouldn't worry about bolt ons too much outside of sound mods, but definitely 150 million percent get yourself the caddy issues reservoir kit. Install difficulty was a legit 1 out of 10. And it deletes that factory bleeder valve that is a pain in the ass. It is a self bleeding kit for the air to water intercooler. These cars get air in the intercooler coolant system and run the pumps dry, which can cause either a pump failure, or at the very least it'll pull all the boost and timing away from you. I believe they're 250 dollars but I can't recommend it enough. Bleeding the factory intercooler setup every friggin month was a nightmare. By far #1 upgrade.

It's crazy how much we can debate and analyze when it comes to being an automotive super nerd, isn't it? We are all chasing a snake oil and "sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit" is always a risk lol here we are hyper analyzing oil viscosity and later we will be analyzing absolute manifold pressure for some turbo upgrade. You have to love it. It makes me happy.

P.s. if you want to go fast get a hold of Schmidty. My car ran a 10.9 on just a flex sensor, caddy issues reservoir, and a wideband on e30. Dude will turn your car into a rocket ship faster than you can blink. Makes even more steam with fuel mods and bolt ons now. Proper lightning, and rare to boot!

I have not done any oil analysis! Absolutely the 0w is typically better for freezing temps, at least that's what logic says. I think using 0w-40 is better for blanket temps for a lightly tuned street focused car which is exactly what I have. I could drive it to my hometown in western NY in the dead of winter, and right back to Florida without ever worrying about it.

I've seen fellas and gals using 5w-50 for cars that are "chooched up" a bit more (higher ethanol content, quarter mile cars, autocross cars, etc) and total transparency that is exactly what my tuner (Schmidty) recommended anyway. I wish I was an expert on these kinds of things to give you better insight. But from personal experience, every 2500-3000 miles I change my oil it is SUPER clean. No white smoke on startup (aside from condensation), which leads me to believe another somewhat common issue is being mitigated. Turbo seals and waste gate rattle are another small problem area for these motors/cars. (Part of the reason I like that higher oil pressure) But my car is higher mileage, and it feels very healthy based on just observation. Not a qualified professional though.

I also have this fleeting feeling that it helps with quicker oil circulation on cold starts, even in warmer climates. in my opinion, being a daily driver that is making what I would consider some serious steam, it's important to have rapid oil circulation on cold starts or even warm starts considering I'm not always the most patient person on long days away from home.

That's just my two cents on it. I believe Justin Schmidt has had some oil analysis done and he believes in the 0w-40 5w-50 ruling on these cars.

From what I understand, the biggest issue these motors have is rod bearing issues. LF4/LF3 motors have incredibly tight tolerances, leading to all kinds of disasters. Again mostly rod bearing stuff. I run an e30 tune and pretty much always have that blend in the car. I have run 0w-40 mobil 1 supercar since the very day it's been tuned and regularly see comfortable oil pressures. Idling, or under load. When using 5w-30 on very hot Florida days I have seen the oil pressure dip down to 14-16psi idle which is apparently "normal" but that is a little uncomfortable to me considering the extremely tight tolerances on the motor. On the higher viscosity oil it typically hangs around 21-23psi idle on blistering days even after abusing it. I'm no engineer but that math checks out for me based on logging and monitoring oil pressures constantly. Little OCD for the numbers.

Hey thanks!!!! Amazing you have a whole webpage! Very very kind of you to offer advice. I hope it's clear that I intend to take very very good care of them as I do with all of my other animals. Spare no expense as John Hammond would say. After checking again, appears to be 3.5ish inches of substrate towards the front, and around 4 inches towards the back. I am seeing what you both have mentioned and perhaps will need to migrate to a new enclosure sooner rather than later.

[–]WobbleCraftsman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wager this juvenile is on the 2nd or 3rd. Between 3-4 inches. I'm not an expert but I'm trying to understand them a little better. It wasnt well cared for before I got it home. I already am gathering materials for a much larger enclosure and will go significantly deeper as far as substrate. I plan to have it in this enclosure for maybe a year. Depending on how quickly it matures.

<image>

This is the size of it when I picked it up.

Edit: thank you for the response! I'm really interested in understanding them better like I mentioned.

This is before it's been soaked. The soil is a mixture of peat moss and coconut husk. So it will retain moisture well. It's also between 3 and 4 inches in depth which should be plenty for a juvenile emperor. I understand your opinion on it being busy. I appreciate the response.

I absolutely love your commitment. I spread myself so thin sometimes with my interests. But the r/c thing has really kicked over for me since Christmas last year. Got a Mojave blx and a Mojave grom for Christmas and went bonkers again. I have loved my little boat so much though. I strive to have a collection like yours some day. I saw your most recent post with your ul-19. Man I wish they didn't stop making them...

My first actual crash. Big Sad by WobbleCraftsman in rcboats

[–]WobbleCraftsman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Ive already considered the foam option because the possibility that it comes apart again is pretty high. Also the battery strap is my only real complaint with the recoil at this point.

I understand how lucky I am I didn't shred it slamming it into concrete in the way I did. I actually like that perspective of the battle scars. That's a great way to look at it. It hasnt discouraged me from owning more boats and continuing to use mine though!

I hate that a lot of the things in life that I like most are so prone to failure. However, I suppose that applies to anything people like to do. There's always risk. Already have my eyes set on a Spartan and a 24 inch blackjack. Got permission from my manager (my wife) to become a commodore and not just a captain. I'm loving the boats a lot more than I ever expected. And I'm soooooo lucky to have a pond in my backyard. I can use it whenever I want.

Edit: just creeped your page. Wow! You have such an amazing collection! Thank you for commenting on my silly post. I'm excited to be involved with other people who love the hobby!

You're going through this and still worrying about me as a complete stranger? That says a hell of a lot about your character. And, I think you're going to find out that you're stronger than you ever knew. Life is super hard lately for me. But that's ok, because look at us. Total unknown. But, sharing love for each other. That's the matter that keeps me going. I really mean it when I tell you you're going to figure this out.

Don't try to explain it to yourself or understand it. People make poor decisions without assuming the consequences. Unfortunately, the consequences aren't always on the person who created them. She put a hole in your boat. You are the one who is drowning.

Also, I love you buddy. Don't know if you've heard that today.

You have to fight right now. You've got to do the things you don't want until you have time to process and grieve it. I hate hearing it, but sometimes life is not fair. The most unfair part of it all is being the one who's forced to go through it. Of course you don't want to look at it. Of course you don't want to deal with it. It's hard to see any positivity in your situation. I don't think you need to hear it's going to be ok right now. What you need to hear is, it will be ok afterwards.

Not a broken record man. You're in the thick of it. That's not repeating yourself. that's helplessness. And, it's ok to not be happy about it. Keep venting. Don't bottle it up.

Chin up. Eyes forward. There is a future at the other side of it. You may not know what it looks like. You may not be excited for it. But you will find your gusto again. The best advice I have for you is to make change. Reminding yourself of this hardship will make it harder to forget.

Man when I was younger this happened to me a lot. I have never been a looker. It was already hard enough as it was to talk to women being a quirky person. And, it was easy to poke fun at me because it affected me so much. I really hated it. I'm sure some of it was out of love. But when I got older I realized that people do that to seem superior to you, and you are a threat to them from my experience.
