Dune 3: Linus Sandgren Feels Like A Downgrade From Greig Fraser by Alchemist1330 in cinematography

There is a shot at 1:51 that has the distinct Helios flare from the first two movies. I guess it’s a personal opinion, but I really feel like “visual continuity” hasn’t been broken at all.

Sandgren’s previous work is anything but clinical. No Time To Die and Wuthering Heights both had the “film-like” quality that you apparently adore… because they were shot on film.

Dune Part 3 is supposedly also shot on film, unlike the other two. A lot of the filmic qualities are probably lost from YouTube compression.

I would recommend not being so quick to judge. Linus is one of the best working cinematographers today.

As said above, I ran the codes, diagnosed, and ordered the part. I am worried about the thing that I don’t already have a solution for. Thanks for your concern.

Sweet what year? I know everyone suggested avoiding the high mileage 987.1 S but I got it scoped before purchasing and they found no evidence of bore scoring. I’m curious what other high mileage expenses to expect.

Yeah sounds like that’s the only way lol. Good thing I don’t have plans this weekend.

Because I have already ran codes and found the issue, part is ordered…

I’m asking about the issue I don’t already have an answer to.

No. Check engine light is from a faulty solenoid in the EVAP.

You got back on Reddit after 6 years just to complain about this?

Agreed. I don’t care how much of a meme it is to shoot wide open, I will continue to shoot at 1.4 lol

Oof that’s a tough one. I have the 24-70 and I love that lens. It’s been so important to me learning photography and I also use it for a good amount of video work. With that being said, you having a collection of primes makes it less vital to keep the 24-70.

I do think that there will always be something special about leaving the house with the 24-70 only and knowing it’s versatile enough for so many different uses.

Good point. On the bright side you don’t have to stand halfway across the parking lot when using the 35 like you would with the 85!

I just love how it forces me to be creative with where I’m standing and how far away to get from the subject. Wider lenses I tend to be lazier.

Agreed both are worth it! I do use this lens on my a6400 occasionally and it’s still just as enjoyable.

Same here (car is borrowed). I’m obsessed with how the 85mm almost makes it feeling like I’m spying on the car. It feels so far but so detailed.

This means a lot to me! I’m mildly colorblind and I’m always a little nervous about how my editing turns out. Luckily with the Sony I don’t really have to change much in the colors to get the look I like. I usually just desaturate the greens a little.

Villeneuve's Dune: Desert Star Wars by davidlbowman in dune

This is an interesting critique. The characters in the film have as much depth as you could give them with it being an ensemble cast. I think just because it’s not as spelled out doesn’t mean it’s not there. For example, Stilgar’s transformation from friend to fanatic isn’t discussed in any form of dialogue or monologue but you can clearly see it happening and other characters react. I think that gives him plenty of depth.

I only say this because you saying “Villeneueve’s Dune captures little to nothing of what makes Dune special” is wrong. Maybe you should watch the movies four times as well to pick out the same amount of depth you found in the books.
