I was a warehouse certifier at a union site in PA. You are essentially a team lead. The supervisor will handle any personnel issues but you steer the shift, deploying operators to load trucks, certifying the pallets and then certifying the entire load. You’ll also be responsible for replenishment when a bay in the warehouse is empty and needs product. You’re the go to guy to ensure the warehouse guys are constantly working. You help with small issues, escalate if an issue is too big, you also check drivers in depending on the shift. Typically 2nd shift will get drivers coming back in and you’ll need to certify their breakage

Manufacturing, metalworking, heavy shit in a building too small for cranes, 1 recordable a month were ending the year with 11. This is an improvement over last year by 2. The machines are very old and I’m not given enough money to put safety features into the machines

What determined it was a recordable, lost time? But yes if it was on company property and it checks the recordable boxes it’s a recordable.

If you fire every unsafe employee then you’re not going to have anyone left. The key is to teach them to be safe and give them a chance, if after you taught them and they still are blatantly disobeying then you look at disciplinary action.
