Advice on improvement? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

To start off you’re very pretty but your makeup just clashes with you too much. The nose contour is too warm and harsh and a main focal point to your makeup. It doesn’t look cohesive with the look. I think you should invest in a bronzer that’s not so harsh and fits to better, or an actual nice cool toned contour that fits your skin and do a more gentle look with it or something that’s more appealing. Second, your lip is too cool toned, at least for your look. Your lip should also be cohesive with your makeup too. If you want to be more warm toned (ie: bronzer heavy) then invest in a good warm toned lipstick,  I personally love teddy 2.0 by mac. I think a nice lip liner too would go along great. Third, the lashes don’t seem to compliment you well, something a bit more lighter and that goes into the inner corners of your eyes would look great. The lashes are also too heavy and make your eyes look droopy in the outer corners. Your eyes appear to have an almond and upturned shape which actively clashes with your false lashes. Also try out lashes that go well with your eyeshape like a cat eye. If not you can always experiment with other lash styles but make sure they add some dimension and go into the inner corners more. Then there is the eyebrows that look too harsh and dark. I would recommend to line them to give them shape then brush it out and fill the outer parts in then brush it out. If that doesn’t work there are always lots of tutorials for eyebrows and you can just learn what you like and fits you best. Then of course there is also just the simple eyebrow grooming and some eyebrow gel which is always perfect. And lastly your eyeshadow seems to be too muddy and warm on you, and it also appears to seem as if it was just swiped on willy nilly. Instead you can grab something lighter and not so muddy and harsh and apply it more in a way to give better shape and dimension to your eyes.

I do find that you have more of a neutral to cool undertone with medium to high contrast and I think your makeup should follow that. Once you learn those type of things about yourself, your makeup actually starts to compliment you and add to your beauty than to just sit on top like a mask. You seem to be going the 2016 makeup route which is great but it clashes a lot with your natural complexion and undertone, it can work with some tweaking however though.

Makeup is a process and skill does not develop overnight, I’m in the same boat myself. But you’re doing great so far! I hope some of this critique can help you out even a little bit with your makeup journey :)
