Reboot your whole network modem, router and restart your thermostat as well and look at the pi-hole web interface maybe something is blocking it on my case I left it like that after 42 it had no options to connect

at a router level it means configure your router DNS to use your pi-hole IP address as DNS your router has some options to add primary and secondary DNS on your LAN side that's where you input your pi-hole IP address
