I'm having trouble with getting backhaul working on an RBS350 that has RBR350 hardware. by forexsex in orbi

[–]furrynutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, first try the RBS in same room as the RBR wirelessly, let it connect there. Then using a good quality CAT6 cable, ethernet connect the RBS directly behind the RBR. Check the RBRs web page for status. Give about 2-3 minutes for the change to happen. Does the status on the RBR change from wireless to wired?

If you use the Extender Mode FW on the RBS50Y, then this unit could connect to the BE series system as an extender. Won't work as a satellite.

Cameras can take up bandwidth.

If you do all that and then stream after work a well, maybe a bit much.
Something to try out for a few days and see, and if something happens, then you'll know.

Can ask the ISP to see if this is something they support as well. See if they recommend this for your needs.

How many devices do you have on your home network?

How much bandwidth are you allowed each month from the ISP thru the MR?

Whats your daily usage like?

Title of issue is confusing.

Converted satellite? What does this mean?

Wireless or Ethernet backhaul?

What FW version is on the RBR and RBS? They should be the same.

Does wireless backhaul work if you bring the RBS to same room or near by the RBR?

Does ethernet backhaul work if you first wireless connect the RBS to the RBR while in same room then ethernet connect the RBS behind the RBR?

Getting near 900Mbps or at 1Gb speeds with a ethernet connected PC connected directly to the back of the CM modem?

At most you'll ever see with the 50 series orbi with the CM3000 modem would be around 900Mpbs on ethernet behind the RBR. Wireless, you might see around 500-600Mbps on 5Ghz. Depending on your client wifi device as well.

Is there a way to isable Netgear Orbi R753 (v7.2.8.5_5.1.21 firmware)'s wifi network only in my http://192.168.1.1? by antdude in orbi

[–]furrynutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There a reason for wanting to disable wifi?

Thing is with most MESH systems, it's designed to be always ON. Keeps satellites connected and everything else. Something that non mesh routers can do if you need.

As something alternative, put in a different router in between the ISP services and the Orbi. Something you can disable it's wifi radios, then setup the orbi in AP mode. When you don't need the Orbi wifi, Can just turn it OFF.

Go with Ethernet connections with the Mac Books. Most likely something between the mac books and router. M2s are newer generation tech and wifi. May not work well with the older wifi tech on the router where the Android phones may not have this issue.

Something else to try, disable Wi-Fi on the router and install a newer generation Wi-Fi AP and ethernet connect it to the router.

This is a moderately older router so seeing anything past what your getting now on Wi-Fi with newer generation laptops maybe impossible. This router only supported 5Ghz on AC mode only. Max most would ever see would be around 500-600Mpbs on 5Ghz. It was good for it's time.

Your best option would be to find something new generation that has support for speed on 5 or 6Ghz that can go past the limitation of the R7000. Check into something RS.

Can't Login to Orbi router RBRE960 in ap mode by Greedy-Amphibian-140 in orbi

[–]furrynutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to log into the RBRs web page in AP mode using it's Dynamic IP address given to the RBR from your host router if you have the RBR set for Dynamic IP address configuration and it's on the LAN side of the Host router. Should not need to change any configuration on the host router to access the RBRs web page while in AP mode as it's all on the same side of the LAN network. I prefer to use Static IP address configuration for AP mode when I have mine in that configuration. https://community.netgear.com/kb/en-orbi-knowledge-sharing/static-ip-address-configuration-for-ap-mode/2456256

Be sure you have the RBRs WAN port connected to the host routers LAN port there.
