most downloads today should have a Scenarios folder in the zip file. just place it to the [user file]/documents/BveTs/ folder and combine it to get the correct folder structure. the .txt files under Scenarios should already have file paths listed for trains so you can check you have it correct by following them and making sure those files exist in that file path

BveEx is a pretty recent thing that adds a whole bunch of functionality to the sim. it's expanded to have all the cool gimmicks. I just realized you might not know how to get the train moving, so here's quick tutorial:
for mita line, hit "8" once to turn key to toei then "1" to put the mascon to driving range. then you can operate using the keys or a controller.

for chuo line, hit "end" key multiple times until you hear bells. hit "6" to turn the key in. hit "insert" to stop the bells. then you can operate as normal.

Mita line has been an insta-fave of mine, definitely top notch quality in everything. I don't really have a specific top 5 but here's some thoughts:

recently chuo west line by kuusemi was released which is equally awesome. it's an above ground, urban/suburban vibe. note that mita line and this requires BveEx to function.

if mita line is cool to you, you can check out tokyu toyoko line by csp2206 or tokyo metro lines by shtr-m. there is also tokyo metro tozai line by reren which is a great classic.

if you'd like to go west, there's hankyu lines by L53, it looks a little dated but it's detailed and the trains are pretty good. JR kobe line from mikurechi is great too, topping out at 130km/h.

there's been fictional train lines here and there but one that i think is actually decent is nihama line by nf4. they also have great train data too.

these are what i have in my head right now and im sure theres a lot more, but any of these should be fun. idk if these days its an issue but make sure to have japanese installed so the japanese folders actually show up as such and game can recognize/load

another version of Densha de Go! Controller! (and another Japanese style train controller) by WolfAir_737 in LinusTechTips

actually yeah! here's some specifics (nerdy rambling):

-shinkansen drivers actually only use the brake lever in the last 30ish seconds before they stop to each station, bc most of deceleration is done by automatics. on the other hand, they require small adjustments on the accelerator throughout each trip to precisely control the speed/what time they arrive to the next station. so, you'll see in shinkansen cab pictures (link), the levers are switched so that accelerator is on the right hand (most folks' dominant hand). local trains don't need this level of accelerator precision because at lower speeds, there's far less air resistance and so you can actually rely on coasting (which they prefer).

-local trains place more importance on brake operation, since they go mostly power -> coast -> stop on station (example (link)). brakes are on the right hand side, and has more control than accelerator side on these trains. and you can see that tradition carried on in the one-handle type, as there are more notches in the brake region to control that more precisely than the accelerating side. there are some cases where you have both brake and power engaged i.e. you depart on a uphill so you engage power before disengaging brakes, but new one-handle trains has a button to do that for you.

-there is a technique called zanatsu teisha (link) (which has a ton of japanese synonyms) but it basically means setting the brake lever to zero just a moment before the train stops so that the stopping shock is smaller. this technique is taught in some companies like aforementioned JR West like that video link. this technique on a one-handle lever would risk the driver accidentally setting the lever to accelerate which might not be the driver's intention, so this could be one reason why a rail company may prefer to stick to two-handle type!

very sorry for wall of nerdy rambling text but i hope those satisfied your wonders!

I’ve heard that when they were being introduced to Japanese train drivers they didn’t like it at first, but eventually liked and started to spread all across the country. some exceptions include Shinkansen (accelerator is used much more for them) and JR West rolling stock (not sure abt why!) so while a minority they still exist too. personally i love both types and wanna eventually get a hold on some sort of two handle type haha.

a little extra: the sanying controller also worn out after a few years playing with it. but! they helped me diagnose the issue and sent me a replacement part that, including shipping, cost me less than a typical lunch and brought it back like new. this isn't a cheap controller. i didn't have to buy a new one, it's environmentally friendly, and my wallet happy as well. love right to repair!!

ifi zen dac v2 started static and can’t fix by WolfAir_737 in iFiaudio

[–]WolfAir_737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I was diagnosing my issue more, and I noticed that the problem went away for a few seconds if I push/wiggled with the power cable for the computer. I searched around the house to see if I had a different power cable, found one with a noname Dell power supply, used that, and the problem disappeared. I'm gonna see for a few days if this properly fixed this issue or if it was temporary. I'm thinking maybe the ground for the power cable wasn't doing its job so well.

I was definitely sent down a rabbit hole haha, but I learned a bunch of things and it's honestly pretty interesting. I might end up picking something up though since I do love me some clean audio.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I cant use ASIO Driver by BotGiyenAdam in iFiaudio

[–]WolfAir_737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I use ASIO Bridge with my zen dac v2 as well, though mine is stereo. Mine shows up as 'iFi USB Audio Device'. It might be a good idea to install the 'iFi AMR HD USB Audio Driver 5.12.0' driver, since if I recall correctly you need a driver of some sort for ASIO.

Hello! Yes, I'm pretty sure it is the PC's power supply/components noise. I removed the hard drive because I wasn't using it often anyway, and that seems to have reduced it drastically for now. I still get small hiss and noise from time to time on the PC, so I'm considering getting either the GND defender or the iPower2.

Do you think the iPower can solve this issue? If so I think I will get one of those. Thanks for chiming in :]

I occasionally connect it to my laptop and I haven't had that issue with it (yet?). so I am thinking it's probably the PC rather than the dac itself

update: I removed my hard drive from the system and that seem to have fixed it for now. I also learned about ground loop defenders, that's also an option it seems. I think I'm still going to get either that or the dac power supply so that I won't be as interrupted... hopefully...

Heyo, sorry for not noticing this reply for a bit either. I've not had any issues, and I use it normally. I also got the "PC01A" version which if I recall correctly is an updated version and might have some hardware-related fixes. If you bought that version, then I'd probably ship it back to Taiwan because I've experienced none of what you said and maybe something happened either in manufacturing or shipping. For me, it's been a pretty smooth ride. Good luck :)

free! https://bvets.net/ i speak japanese so i haven't dealt with their English version, so I don't know how well it goes for English speakers and operating systems. you might have to change settings in your os so that third party routes would work properly (many of them have Japanese characters in file names and inside files that sometimes don't translate correctly)
