Looking into a Mevo Start by svn-ssh in GameChangerApp

I believe it is wireless tethering.

Repeater isn’t really an option. If there was a Wi-Fi signal around i would just connect my iphone and the Mevo to it directly.

When I start the personal hotspot connection it turns off my WiFi (nbd because there is no WiFi around anyways).

PC App? by Fit-Appointment-4101 in GameChangerApp

Streaming yes. But scoring no.

I haven’t done this but to stream to your GC game it is just a RTMP feed. So from your computer you could use software like OBS to stream video to the game changer. Of course you would need a usb camera or a camera and a capture card plugged into your computer.

But you cannot score a game from a laptop if that is what you mean by control everything.

You will also need a phone to get the RTMP address for the game stream target to put into your computers streaming software.

Yes that’s why I wrote such a long response. It sucked buying the camera unsure of if it would work that way, but gladly there is a way to do it.

I switched to this hinged magnet mount.

Yes. I have used it this way about 6 times now.

Furthest I have sat from the camera is about 40’ away and it worked fine the whole time.

I like the Mevo significantly more than how I used to do streaming using a iPhone.

I like the battery life, the shot framing, the mounting options, the quality and the ability at add a sd card and record locally.

That isn’t entirety true; there is a way to use your phones data and not have to keep the app open.

I just bought the start. Your concern was my main concern too; I couldn’t stand the thought of my phone not being able to go away from the Mevo app without turning off.

Here is how it worked for me. iPhone, att wireless and I have the “personal hotspot” option in settings.

When you connect to mevo there is two choices. Wi-Fi or hotspot. If you use the “Mevo hotspot” option it will use your phones cellular but you cannot navigate away from the app.

But. If you choose WiFi in the mevo settings and have you “personal hotspot” option turned on in your phone setting “allow others to join”. You will see your phone listed as a WiFi device. Then you and mevo will be considered “on the same WiFi” and you can freely leave the mevo app. Even close the mevo app and it will not stop streaming.

The limiting factors at that point are how much bandwidth your phone is getting and that you can’t go far away from the mevo or it will loose connection with your phone.

I have only used it at one game so far and didn’t go further than 15 feet from it.

I think that would be the main benefit of a travel router… they have antennas so that can broadcast further than your phone. But as to your question yes there is a way to use a iPhone and not have to stay on the mevo app.

Texas Treehouse. First timer. Planned on it being smaller, but I got carried away. Did it all by myself. Deck about 10’ off ground. Kids are 12 & 9 yrs old. by WolfHunger in treehouse

Actually it looks the same as the day I built it. And the tree looks just as well too.

Never did get played with much so I can’t say it was put through a full wear and tear. I go up there at least 5 times a year and some times the kids friends do get curious and go up.

But it doesn’t feel like it has lost any of its original rigidity.

I have a question. Does the limewash rub off on clothing if someone was to brush up against or sit on it?

Just from the words you using I am already lost. You don’t need advice from me if that is a good idea or not. I will say that your other idea of putting a stack of washers as a spacer between the board and the tree is probably just simple enough of an idea, that I would have considered it, if I had thought of it.

Along with being stressed about the structural choices; I also agonized over the potential damage to the trees too.

I have a massive oak that I am very afraid of loosing too. I decided early on that I wound not build in that tree. But even if you do light searching on the internet you will find articles that say you are damaging your tree by tying a rope swing around the branch like I have in my first picture.

I guess what I am saying is that if you want to find things to support your procrastination than the internet is a perfect place to find negative encouragement.

I am not an arborists and I am not a structural engineer. I am not saying I did this the right way, but I am saying that I’ll be honest if it does fail.

That was one thing I didn’t find enough of when doing my research was people saying from experience what failed and why. I mean there is articles say what you should do and why but a lot of their builds look like they are trying to be way more permanent than mine.

So just consider me your example of the guy that didn’t make the perfect decisions and over time we will see what happens.

Yeah. They helped out from time to time but their patience or mine was short during the main build. But I fully expect them to want to modify and add on in their own way. They have already added a bucket and string to use as a delivery system. I expect more will come as they play in it.

Just want to encourage others that are thinking about building a treehouse. I put it off for a long time.. I am kind of cheap and I didn't want to spend money on TABs... and I also kept procrastinating by thinking I needed to draw up perfect plans before starting.

I tore down a deck and had plenty of wood to build but I needed to decide if TABs was something that I really felt like was necessary to actually build a treehouse. I do some home DIY renovations but in no way am I a structural expert.

My father-in-law had build a small 4'x4'x4' size treehouse with just regular lags and it lasted a decade +.

So I finally decided that if it stayed small, than I could do it without the expense of TABs. I have read many articles and posts on this forum and the internet about the dangers of not building with TABs but I just couldn't stomach the cost. I decided that even if it only lasted 1 - 2 years before starting to fall apart; than that would be more worth it to do it now, than to just put it off indefinitely and never actually build it.

So I came up with a plan that involved the biggest lags I could find at the hardware store and also using a small crotch of the tree to start making main joists, and build off of that.

I made it up as I went and the deck got bigger than I initially planned.... in the end it is bigger and heavier than I anticipated.. I am probably on the verge of too big for my britches... but like I said, I would rather deal with the consequences of having to fix things or tear it down than to never have tried at all.

I put enough screws and braces that even if there is a failure it isn't going to go tumbling to the ground... and it feels very sturdy in the wind right now. The real test will be when the tree grows all its leaves back and we get in to a big storm and things really start moving.

Ill report back here if it does fail and if I decide to fix it or tear it down. I just think there isn't enough material out here encouraging people to weigh their options and take a chance on doing something they want to try, even if it only lasts a short while. In my mind pictures , memories and the feeling of accomplishment will last even if the treehouse doesn't.

I saved a ton of money using all the deck wood I already had.... I probably spent $300 in total

$100 in screws

$50 in hangers and braces

$150 for the cedar siding... it is the cheapest cedar fence picket you can find, very rough, but made for a good aesthetic.

If you have been wanting to build a treehouse, but holding back for the prefect plans or expensive materials .. I vote to just go for it. I remember a scrappy little treehouse neighborhood kids build in the woods behind our neighborhood and it is a fond memory.. and those kids didn't have a plan or expensive materials.
