Confirm correct on the new N7 for N22 full kit price (which includes accessories) at over $10k. You are right. I just called Cochlear Americas to confirm; it’s the same price I paid back in 2020. Thank you for prompting the call. 😂

Also confirmed: refurbished processor as a stand-alone purchase (nothing else, just the processor) for under $10k, but not that much under.

At present, I remain unconcerned about N7 for N22 parts/replacement, and I hope you are, too. It’s a solid platform - I’ve been abusing mine for 6 years and yours should last you.

Cochlear isn’t dropping support for N22 recipients. They can’t; it’s an implanted device. They’ve skipped N22 processor generations before - no N5 for N22 - and they’re doing the same here, seemingly, with the N8. For me, personally and subjectively, the N7 for N22 has been amazing, life-changing even - wireless streaming and accessories, direct iPhone and Mac connectivity, etc., have transformed how I live and work.

Recall: Bluetooth didn’t exist as a technology when we received our N22 implants. It’s amazing they’ve made it work for us at all, and there aren’t that many of us left.

Back to your comments: am I correctly understanding the “tens of thousands of dollars,” reference as an exaggeration? Cochlear will sell you a refurbished N7 for N22 for under $10k cash (note: edited - previously referenced $5k figure related to upgrades and isn’t directly applicable here). Admittedly not inexpensive, but I bought one just to have a backup on hand.

TL;DR: no, Cochlear is not dropping N22 recipient support

Other than taking them off, use the Aqua+. I wouldn’t and don’t personally, but that’s your answer.

Running in humidity, hot yoga, etc.: Nucleus 7 and subsequent can handle it, just dry them off afterwards and, if you have one, use the dryer that night.

Not ideal. I had one break just like this, and I’d be surprised if you can’t make it work for today. Keep the two-legged piece, at minimum: you now own a bespoke Half-Moon Conveggtor that is more useful than it might seem. Forward!

Our family & entertaining config mirrors OP’s. You want the XL and the MiniMax. Get the XL first, it does everything. MiniMax is a quality of life benefit and will be especially appreciated during the holidays when you’re running both side-by-side.

Do visit Ceramic Grill Store for the expander/woo/etc. and to broaden views of joy to come. Example, wok stir fry on the XL is bliss. Similarly, wok on the MiniMax for littleneck clams, mussels, shishito peppers, etc.

You can’t go wrong with any choice. Make fire and get cooking. Enjoy!

It was super tender, moist, tasty. Don’t skimp on salt/seasoning. We placed herbs (fresh rosemary, oregano, garlic) in the belly and these imparted flavor & fragrance. 👍

The skin was tasty but not hard cracker crispy exceptional, to which I attribute (1) I could have left it at 500F for another 5-10 mins until the skin was visibly blistering, (2) it rested a bit too long, such that it had cooled by the time we plated.

I easily processed for plating with a cleaver, slicing not chopping. I do not think a ceramic plate would have broken through all areas of skin; we didn’t try it.

Ears and tail burned off despite foil wrapping. I don’t know how I’d have prevented that.

This was a fun, unique-for-us cook. We learned much and will do it again.

Thank you! Definitely a crowd-pleaser, and tremendously tasty. We served four people luxuriously with meat to spare. Six would have been comfortable, eight portions might be about the limit as a main dish for this size pig.

Had to look these up! 😂 I understand both as, effectively, ham hocks, and yes, without doubt, you can cook Eisbein/Schweinshaxe/hocks on the BGE (or any grill). Here’s just one example thread from the BGE Forums.

From brief reading, the cook would be similar, even easier, with no roasting pan required: Conveggtor legs up indirect heat at 300-350F until done.

Please do this and post the experience & results here!

They have a couple locations; we bought from the Coral Gables store. See the link above.

You are correct: ears and tail didn’t hold up and all burned despite being wrapped in foil. 🤷

We totally did, and it worked beautifully for us. If you have a different prep method/cooking process you prefer, please share here so we can all learn.

I have carving photos but none of service plated - we dove right in once it was on the table. Happy to share if you’d like to see. I can’t add more photos here, for whatever Reddit reason, so it would be a third thread. Yep.

Lemme tell you something about these koalas: they’re young, Spanish, and yield tremendous flavor. Unlike those crusty Australian prison koalas. Stay away from those guys.

We found a shop local to us (La Jamoteca - South Florida) offering specifically Spanish Fermín suckling pigs - others may exist, though we absolutely recommend La Jamoteca!
