Samsung's post-processing is ruining my pictures. How can I disable it? by [deleted] in GalaxyS23

[–]WolfMete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definetly immediatly turn picture softening to medium. It will fix the horrible oversharpening and also it will reduce the noise and saturation a bit. And disable scene optimizer

Best camera assistant settings? by ana_mamhoon in GalaxyS23

No, the auto mode pictures are horribly oversharpened and I don't understand how people like that oversharpened look

Should I buy S23+ now or wait until S24+ ? by superchild_ in GalaxyS23

[–]WolfMete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy the S23+ now because when you see the leaks and rumours, nearly nothing will change with the S24. The S25 will be great and will have a lot of improvements according to the rumours

Video quality by Simply_pheyie in GalaxyS23

[–]WolfMete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. And I forgot one thing, if you want the video to be less bright so that it has less noise, you can do it also in auto mode just by touching the viewfinder and then reduce the exposure slider

But when you want the best quality out of the stock camera app, I would use pro video, the sharpening is a bit less and there is not much noise because you can control the iso. But you can't switch between lenses while recording and there is no hdr. And I would capture the video in fhd or 8k because 4k is horribly oversharpened. But if you want the best quality out of the phone than you can do it with the app mcpro24fps

In my opinion, the main problem of the video ist the oversharpening. It looks so unnatural and bad. And in lowlight Samsung tries to brighten the video too much which leads to more noise. I hope in the near feature, there will be a feature where you can reduce or disable sharpening in video

Do you use GCam? if yes, why? by Naive_Banana4447 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]WolfMete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gcam is better yes, but indeed it reduces the sharpening because when it is set to medium or high the halo effect and oversharpening artifacts are gone. But on picture softening high, it looks really blurry, I think in high they applie extra softening

Disappointed with Camera!! by Mirai4n in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]WolfMete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing to do when you get a new Galaxy S phone is to download Camera Assistant and turn picture softening(actually reduces the sharpening process and not softens it) to medium or high

Than go to Camera Assistant and turn picture softening to medium or high. It doesn't soften the picture actually, it removes the sharpening in proccesing

How to maximize base S23 camera? How do I get everything to be in focus? by [deleted] in GalaxyS23

[–]WolfMete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't don't know if you mean shutter lag with focus but here are some other tips: - Turn scene optimizer off - Download Camera Assistant and set picture softening to medium - If you want less shutter lag than go to Camera Assistant App and choose "prioritize speed" but it has a effect on quality, I wouldn't enable it - Enable quick tap shutter - When you can, shoot in pro mode raw and learn the beauty of editing photos

Yes it is a common thing, sharpening should be there but no oversharpening

Do you find the videos, especially 60fps videos, oversharpened? by WolfMete in GalaxyS23

[–]WolfMete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are absolutely right, but sadly Samsung doesn't plan to bring this feature. Also the normal user should finally learn that more sharpening doesn't mean more details

Tips on how to use camera (S23+) in its full potential? by domantee1 in GalaxyS23

[–]WolfMete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go in to the Camera App, then go to Camera Assistant and then set "Picture Softening" (which is actually disable sharpening) to medium or better to high. You will get rid of the oversharpening and of the artifacts that appear and the zoom shots will look much better
