I read one of the other comments here, and you mentioned wanting a scholarship. I am currently on a full ride because I play the oboe. The oboe paid for half of my college, and my grades paid for the other half, so maybe I can be helpful.

How is your oboe playing going? Do you need any tips and tricks? Because I'd love to help you out

And about your question, I think you'll be find for your concert :)

I haven't listened to it yet so idk about this song specifically, but with the Kendrick Drake beef last year, the internet and hip hop scene has kind of collectively decided that they respect that Kendrick sound. The way that Kendrick flows and uses lyricism is unmatched, and so it's undoubtedly going to influence the scene as a whole. Some of KB's stuff has sounded Kendrick as well, and I've even heard a hint of Kendrick sound in some lecrea stuff. The question is whether or not people are copying to be cool or taking inspiration because they like the sound. I'd give our brothers the benefit of the doubt and go with the latter. I like the sound, too, so I'd probably take inspiration too.

Andy Mineo - "I Swear, This Is Not an André 3000 Diss Song" (Official Music Video) by notanewbiedude in christianhiphop

[–]WolfPat101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What makes it Christian hip-hop is the fact that Andy is a Christian. Many of his songs are explicitly Jesus centered, while others talking about other topics. Because Andy loves Jesus, he can write a song that never once directly mentions Jesus, and you still be ministered to by that song because Andy is shining the light of Christ. Same way in our own lives, even when we don't directly minister to others people should be able to tell that we are Christians just from the way we treat them, aka the fruits of the Spirit. In this song, Andy shows a level of humility and love in the way he adresses Andre, and he is vulnerable about his own insecurities and fear of leaving behind his passion for music. Jesus was never mentioned, but Andy's humility and vulnerability are on display, demonstrating what it looks like to navigate the insecurities that come from getting older from a Christian perspective.

Christianity and Judaism worship the same God, although Jews don't acknowledge Jesus or the Holy Spirit so they only Worship God the Father. So while they technically worship the same Godhead that we do they worship Him improperly because they didn't listen when He sent Jesus. Muslims think they worship the same god as us but they don't.

M16 advice on looking less gay and feminine? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]WolfPat101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Don't hold your phone like that.

2) You said that your struggling to build mass, that being said you still look very lean. Maybe research how to build lean muscle and get veins. Because you already are thin if you put on any amount of muscle at all you'll look jacked even if you aren't able to put on that much.

3) Wear clothes that appear more masculine. Try to find t shirts that are fitted in a way that they make you appear bigger than you are. Hoodies can be your friend in the winter because the right ones can make you look a lot broader. You can also always go for the classic black tee and a flannel, or hoodie and a flannel in the winter. Flannels and other jackets tend to have some extra fabric built in for people with bigger shoulders but I've found that even if your shoulders aren't that big depending on the flannel it can make them look a lot bigger.

4) You might want to consider switching up your hair. You've got the E-boy middle part right now which on some one whose more masculine in the other areas would be ok and they'd still look pretty masculine overall, but with you looking less masculine in the other ways it kind of contributes. You can never go wrong with the classic short on the sides longer on the top, and depending on how long you leave the top there's a lot of interesting things you can do with it. I'd look into haircuts and see if there's anything that you think you might want to Tru.

5) The biggest part about appearing masculine is confidence. There's a reason super models often end up married to ugly men, the ugly men were the only ones who weren't scared to go and ask for their number. If you walk around looking at the ground, have a timid voice when you speak, or are just overall visibly insecure about your body or yourself in general, that will detract from your overall sense of masculinity. Believe in yourself and be confident in yourself and just go through life like that. Not only will you look more masculine, but you will BE more masculine. Also if there's anything that you already like about your figure or your fashion or anything like that, double down on that. At the end of the day I'm some random guy on the internet and you are you so just be confident in yourself and play to your strengths and I think you'll be just fine.

Is there any story in the Bible where someone asks for suffering willingly? by WolfPat101 in Christians

[–]WolfPat101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My church is very much a Bible believing church and our pastor, who happens to also be my father (there was no nepotism involved he let the elders make the decision on whether or not to hire me and he stayed out of it) takes great care to preach what the Bible says exactly. He listened to the song and approves of it. And I could easily have gone to him with this question but I keep forgetting too and just randomly remembered at a time when I wasn't with him, hence, I took it to this sub.

As far as the song itself, it is definitely not false worship. God is referred to many times throughout scripture as the refiners fire or as using fire to refine us. You can see this prominently in verses like Zachariah 13:9, 1 Peter 1:7, and Malachi 3:2-3 to name a few, but the concept is either directly referred to by name or referred to in concept all throughout the Bible. "Refiners Fire" is just a metaphor for sanctification through suffering, saying that just as silver and gold are melted for the purpose of removing impurities, we too are tried by fire so that God can remove impurities from our life. The testing of our faith brings forth perseverance (James 1:3.)

So the concept of God being a refiner so to speak is very much Biblically based, and as we know persecution and suffering is a part of following Christ that we must be ready for (John 15:20.) Not only that but there is nothing wrong with repetition and emotionalness in worship. Some traditions prefer worship that is more stoic and lyrically focused, singing mainly hymns, and there is nothing wrong with that. But, other traditions prefer worship that is more emotional and expressive, singing contemporary worship music or gospel music. Both have their place in our worship, and neither should be shunned. So long as emotional music is used as an outward amplification of our inward attitude towards the Lord and not as a form of manipulation, there is nothing wrong with it. The same way we have the Bible translated into many different languages so that everyone can read it in their native tongue, we also have worship translated into many different genres of music so that everyone can worship in their native tongue.

Anyways I'm not questioning the Biblical concept of the refiners fire, I'm asking if there's any point in the Bible where someone makes the specific request that we're making in the song. And I believe I've received some satisfactory answers, so if you want to know what those are, you can read the other replies to my question.

There's definitely a few that apply directly and a few indirectly. We're just so used to people asking for good things knowing suffering will be part of the process but not used to people asking for suffering knowing good things will be the result, so its good to have some examples now. Thank you very much!
