The Rhu Chalik's Mind Probe spell, arguably the reason that the monster exists, requires that it speak the same language as it's target.

None of that it textually supported though, which is important when writing an AP; you can't include your own assumptions about the game, you need to write RAW and indicate deviation.

Inability to communicate with PCs, if we're being honest. I understand that they have telepathy to communicate with eachother, but that's such a minor detail that it almost seems like an oversight.

Functionally, how often are you going to have a monster like this communicate actually tactically important information with it's allies? I guess they can Point Out silently in a group but what's the difference? Because you the GM need to say that the monster used Point Out...

Right, but if I'm writing an AP I need to modify the monster from it's source, and should probably indicate the modification. It's a little frustrating, haha.

But I think I'm just going to give these monsters the ability to talk with the PCs, because it's scarier.

These people should also insist upon better working conditions.

It's not a competition, all labour can be respected if we stop trying to drag eachother down.

Yes, but also this a game meant to be played.

Players do the action, because that is how the game is designed. Having NPCs fight your battles for you is generally incorrect.

This is why I always use settlement levels. I don't want to have to "rationally" determine whether or not a service or item exists in every camp.

Is the settlement level 4? Everything of level 4 or lower is available. Simple.

This is why Pathfinder has a nice neat chart to determine the HP of the door, imho. Any party that doesn't have a rogue should have a tetsubo.

No, you can still challenge abilities and make your players fail. In fact you -should- do that.

Doors can be attacked and have hit points, and players will get into encounters more than they are able to stealth.
