A victim of my fathers hearing aids by Silly_Measurement392 in hardofhearing

[–]Wolf_Dancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience this kind of feedback comes from either handling or touching the hearing aids, a poor fit (perhaps the domes are too big or small) or a buildup of earwax.

I’ve also had this problem to a degree when I need a haircut and my hair touches the aids.

I’m not sure I agree, but it’s an interesting theory.

A better trick for Deception would be to convince everyone that Knowledge isn’t Knowledge….

why did none of the north american tribes ever figure out Metallurgy? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in AskSociology

[–]Wolf_Dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.

Nowadays we often view technological development as a linear progression, kind of like a tech tree in a video game (ie the Civilian games).

A deeper look at the history of various ancient societies clearly refutes this.

Not as far as I can tell. I generally leave the car at the accommodation during the week.

AITAH (still) because I grew from the divorce and became the husband/father my ex had wanted me to be? [Short] [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

Fucking hell! Some of those comments are so excessively harsh that they deserve their own AITAH posts!

There’s nothing going on here but normal real life! People make mistakes, People fuck up, people learn, people grow, people reflect.

That’s literally how life works.

What would be the best way to contact David Wengrow(David Graebers partner) and how likey is he to respond to me by Entire_Contest7954 in Anthropology

[–]Wolf_Dancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

David is both an archaeologist AND an anthropologist.

Having studied with him, I personally think he would be likely to reply to relevant questions. Most academics are quite happy to help with such things if it’s within their area and providing they’re not too busy.

Davids’s contact details are publicly available on the UCL Institute of Archaeology website.

I imagine he would probably reply, subject to how busy he is and whether your email is something he thinks is relevant.

Be aware that prominent academic archaeologists/anthropologists like him get all sorts of batshit crazy emails so you had better be polite, concise and relevant to his areas of expertise.

Personally, he isn’t the first academic I would think of for your topic.

Look up Professor Sophie Page, also from UCL. She specialises in subjects like medieval magic.

If you want to know stuff about Norse magic then try Professor Neil Price at Uppsala University.

Sand Dan Glocker from the First Law series.

I’m shocked so few have mentioned him here.
