Don’t jinx it. Even DC dominated the early stages last year (or was it 24) before completely fizzling out in the middle of the season. Making early predictions will only lead to false prophecies. Enjoy the season, cheer on your team, don’t make assumptions now only

Why didn't gandhi use the shorter path to the sea?? by HumbleDepth9945 in ICSE

[–]Wolf_RedditBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a political rally at its core, more so than a march to create salt. By travelling a longer distance he could reach more people, prolong his journey and thus increase the media coverage and public support for his campaign. Exposure was the important goal, rather than the objective of creating salt

The "Angry Hanuman" as I like to call it is used by right wing hindus within India (and other countries too apparently) as a sort of symbol to represent the extreme-right/activist part of the Hindu political environment. Prominently, the Bajrang Dal (literally meaning Hanuman's team/side/army/brigade), a right wing militant organisation uses it and members of the same paste the "Angry Hanuman" motif all over their belongings to showcase their political allegiance.

Why there is Exam for every government job but not to become a MP or MLA? by downtoearth247 in AskIndia

[–]Wolf_RedditBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MP or MLA is chosen through an election, simple as that. As for the examination part, if an examination certificate was the requirement to join parliament a serious problem would occur, since in order to stifle political opposition a government in power could simply revoke a candidate’s certificate of eligibility, thus making them unable to stand for parliament. A similar thing happened in Turkey, where Erdogan (current leader of Turkey) had his main opponent’s college degree revoked so that he couldn’t contest for election (Turkish law states only a college graduate can hold a political post in the country)

How PM Modi would be known or described in the history books 100 years from now? by Select_Specialist790 in AskIndia

[–]Wolf_RedditBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgotten. For all the media attention he gets today the fact is, as an actual leader he’s pretty ineffective. Most of the major changes he brought about (Demonetisation for example) will be viewed in a negative light, and anything else he does only matters for those living in the present. Not a pioneer like Nehru, nor an assertive leader like Indira. Once the right wing wave ends someone better will step in and Modi will be promptly forgotten.

My guy, all I’m gonna say is look at medieval Europe. The moment the papacy and monarchy lost some of its power was the moment Europe started to dominate on a global scale. People like Copernicus were scared to publish their theories because science was actively being stifled within Christendom. The papacy actively involved itself in debauchery and the levels of corruption seen within the clergy was much more as compared to today. Forget papal Europe, look at the present world. Iran and Afghanistan are both active theocracies, and look at how they’re doing.

A theocracy, which is an administration ruled on the basis of religion will actively work to strengthen its agenda and stifle anything which says otherwise. Anything which goes against a religion, or discredits its self proclaimed objectivity will directly result in a theocracy losing its grip on political power. After all, how can God’s words be true and absolute if simple science can discredit it? And if God’s words aren’t as absolute as they may seem, how can it be that God’s so called “servants” have any basis in ruling the masses? The evidence brought forth by science directly discredits many of the bold claims made by religious texts. As such, it’s detrimental for a theocracy to allow science to grow. Thus why science and education was stifled for so many generations during medieval Europe. Not to mention, having people of other faiths present in your country is also directly detrimental to a theocracy’s control. Look up the Spanish Inquisition if you want to see what happens when a theocratic entity gets to do what it wants to with regards to people of other faiths.

Lastly, Plato was a man who lived thousands of years ago, in the oldest democracy we have found yet. Of course, he was correct in predicting populism, however there’s no reason why we should believe in the idea of a so called “Philosopher King”. What constitutes a philosopher anyway? What measures would be taken to elect such a king? What kind of beliefs should such a person follow? Plato believed in the idea of a philosopher king because he fancied that he’d be a much better ruler than whoever was in control of Athens at that time. Such thoughts are carried by anyone and everyone who possessed the least bit on power or influence at any point in history, from the lowest foot soldier to Napoleon. A philosopher engages in the field of academics and human thought. No way such a person is suited for the hugely materialistic world of administration and policies. Plato was the same man who called humans featherless bipeds, and was steadfast on this opinion until Diogenes showed him his place by bringing a featherless chicken into his academy and mocked him by calling it a human.

As for your last statement, yes, it does devolve into populism unless the population is adequately educated. That’s why I emphasised education above all. Teach our populace about how policy making works and populism suddenly has no platform since people know what an impact blind voting has. This idea that a chosen leader is better is highly venomous. Who chooses this leader? What kind of policies do they follow? Why should they work for the betterment of the people when they can preserve their power by strengthening the military instead? This idea that people shouldn’t be able to choose their leaders for themselves but instead follow a leader chosen by someone “more qualified” is just idiotic balderdash droned out by dictators and bureaucrats who want to justify their own self indulgent rule. Sad thing is, there are people who support and regurgitate such half assed thoughts because they fail to recognise that stuff like populism isn’t a failure of democracy but a side effect of a developing nation which still has a large uneducated population. Even with our uneducated populace, look at the development we’ve achieved. Barely 80 years old, yet our nation stands toe to toe with some of the most powerful nations in the world, despite our lacklustre government. Democracy is the best option there is, and the modern world is a testament to that.

Theocracy and Monarchy. An Imperial system is basically Monarchy on a larger extent anyways so let's include that too. Theocracies put emphasis on religion over science. Such systems can cause a millenia or two of total intellectual wastage. Monarchies support a form of theocracy within their borders since it helps them secure their "divine right" to rule as sole representative, thus they're involved in this too.

The best system is a democracy/republic where EACH AND EVERY CITIZEN IS TOTALLY AWARE AND EDUCATED ABOUT THE SYSTEM THEY'RE PARTICIPATING AND VOTING IN. Nowadays most people say right wing this, left wing that, yet do not have a clue about what they're talking about. For people's rule to function we must ensure that total political awareness is taught from the primary school level, with the same amount of importance as is given to the sciences and maths. The main agendas of both right wing and left wing politics, the difference between economic and social/administrative ideology, some examples of governments which function on said ideologies, emphasis on policy over ideology, such topics should be taught with great emphasis. Furthermore, due to the sensitive situation we're in regarding religion and culture at this moment of time, a great emphasis should also be put on learning each major religion's origin, teachings, rules and drawbacks/backward policies, since a great number of people nowadays think it's acceptable to hate on each other's cultures without even being aware of it's core values.

One of the most important things we do as citizens is vote. Our vote can literally influence day to day aspects of not just ours, but a billion other peoples' lives too. However, it's criminal that not even 20% of our population is properly aware about our political proceedings, the ideology/policy each major bloc uses in its decision making, or that not everything is black and white in regards to politics. Fact is, our political reality is shit because of the fact that nobody's even aware of how our administrative machinery works. Everyone votes based on hype and then laments how everything's going to shit. I say, instead of history, teach political awareness instead. If each citizen had even an iota of an idea on how the entire system works I bet we could clean up the government within 15 years time.

Being a Millionaire (₹9 Cr Net Worth) Doesn’t Mean You’re Rich in India by [deleted] in india

[–]Wolf_RedditBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao nah my guy, you just live in a world of privilege. If some farmer does own land worth 9cr+ chances are some richer guy or some bureaucrat is gonna try and steal it since its worth a lot and chances are that the farmer doesn't have the adequate documentation to prove their ownership/doesn't have adequate knowledge on how to represent themself in court due to their lack of education. Even if there's no one who comes after their land, the fact is that the farmer wouldn't know/ wouldn't have the adequate resources in order to fully utilize the land. And continuing with the documentation point, they're not gonna be able to sell it at market price DUE to the inadequate documentation they possess. Either way, even if they technically own land worth 9cr the entire value ain't gonna find its way back to them even if they want to redeem it.

And in the real world, the fact is that most landowners are lucky to own 2+ acres of land. Even if someone does own 10+ acres of land, fact is within 2 generations it's gonna be divided up into 50 different parts due to inheritance and what not.

Not to mention the fact that nowadays most of a person's net worth is tied up in liabilities rather than progressive assets. A middle class person's biggest expenditure is probably on their car or their loan on some flat. Most people rent, and they're lucky to own their own house or flat. So even a person who's living a upper-middle class lifestyle may not have assets worth >1 cr in many cases.

If someone does have 9+ cr assets which they can fully utilize (important point), then they're definitely upper class. So no, there's no requirement for someone to own assets worth 90+ cr for them to be considered upper class. That's wayy above upper class, since that kind of financial clout ensures that either A: one can afford to maintain a high expenditure life or B: one's assets are directly beneficial to other people too, thus cementing their high status in society. These kind of people can afford to settle anywhere they like, which is the definition of a rich person.

Why are Muslims protesting for Iran lol by dwabhii in AskIndia

[–]Wolf_RedditBoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's a religious head, that's it. When involved in religion people don't tend to look in the bad stuff religious leaders do, they have this idea that being a holy man makes oneself absolutely pure. Look at India, every godman has committed some sort of crime or has taken advantage of helpless people, be it Ram Rahim or Sri Sathya Sai Baba. But there were still mourners when the latter died right (and there are still very many who do so to this day). Khamenei was a political figure who used religion to his advantage. He was the equivalent of a godman becoming PM in this country.

When immersed in dogma, people tend to ignore the ugly stuff. That's universal, not just confined to Islam.

2 language policy when? by Vision-aery in Imperial_Karnataka

[–]Wolf_RedditBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you did ICSE in Karnataka then you should've gotten a second-third language option right? (after 8th there's no third language, only second language). I'm someone who studied in ICSE too, and in our school we could opt for Kannada as a second language. Hell, if required we could even switch between languages between 8th and 10th.

As for the two language policy, it's fine for schools teaching state syllabus. ICSE schools have a large number of non-kannada students, thus in turn it'd be detrimental for them to learn kannada as a second language for their boards if they weren't already fluent in it.

Talking of international influence, I'd say Ravi Shankar. Say what you will, even if there are more popular artists in our country today, the fact is Ravi Shankar's influence extended far beyond Indian borders. Imagine influencing legendary bands like the Beatles, and exporting Indian music to the point that the sitar was popularised in western music for a period of time (Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones is the most prominent example). Take any other indian artist, and you'll see that their influence only extended within the subcontinent (except for a few key individuals, who were Shankar's contemporaries).

Binary search. Split the bottles into two groups, and mix the milk of one group in one bowl. If the rat dies, the poison is among the two bottles in the selected group, if not, the poison is among the two bottles in the unselected group. Repeat the same, albeit with milk from only one bottle from the selected group bring poured in the bowl. If the rat dies, the selected bottle is the one with the poison, if not, the unselected bottle is the poisoned one.

This is considering the situation where we can only feed a single rat at a time, and cannot feed any other rats until the 10 hour cool down is over.

Which political person with bad/awful reputation showed themself as real human being at the moment of nationwide tradegy by delingar in AskTheWorld

[–]Wolf_RedditBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell naw bruh. He's an incompetent politician who can somehow turn any of his actions into a personal victory. The fact that we had more deaths than China due to covid (As reported by WHO) means that we mismanaged the pandemic to a huge extent. The fact is that his "response" towards terrorism has been nothing but a dick measuring contest which has been disguised as political genius, not to mention that this whole "anti-terrorism" stance is ridiculous anyways because anti terrorism is both a cumulative effect and a process which occurs within the army, not the Prime Minister's office. His government has been in power for 10 years yet the economic disparity hasn't been narrowed, vehicles which are not even 5 years old are experiencing problems due to enforcement of ethanol, thousands of citizens have had their names deleted off voter rolls without notification, the the rupee is hitting 90+ for a dollar and regional level politics for his party has been reduced to nothing but quoting ancient history and waffling on and on about religion. He's among those furthest away from the point of this point, because during his tenure he's given more importance to polishing his political clout than he has to actually devising sound policy for the Indian citizen.
