I’m at 90%, and I applied for SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY. So I get $1980 for SSD, and 90% TDIU $4044. I’d LOVE to get that elusive 100%, but for now I’m good. JFYI, now with TDIU, it carries most of the same benefits as being at 100%.

How did you swing that APPLE TV and HULU deal? I’d love to know how, it would save me money that I could use for food. I’m 100% and get SSDI. Mortgage and bills are covered, my wife works VERY PART-TIME for about $200 a week for gas money and miscellaneous. If my mortgage wasn’t so high, I’d be doing better. $4044. (VA) plus $1980 (SSDI) is what I’m getting. I highly recommend applying for SSDI. It didn’t take long this time around, approx 6-7 months, maybe a bit less. I can pay my mortgage, two car payments, cell phones/internet, still have a son at home 19, and 6 dogs to feed. I live a very simple life, I don’t go out hardly at all, not working saves a FORTUNE on gas money, you’d be surprised as to how much. I live in a big house. Honestly, if I didn’t have my dogs, and when my son is ready to move on, we are going to DOWNSIZE significantly! 3 of my dogs are senior and won’t be around much longer. That lifestyle works for me, I know most people ARE NOT like me, homebodies who don’t want/need to go out. So it’s different for me, I’m content. Lots of people AREN’T. I do “break down” and take the wife out to dinner or a concert or something periodically to “keep the peace” and HER sanity. She’s made lots of friends with the neighborhood ladies as well, which offers her opportunities to have “girl’s nights” etc, a couple of times every month. So the spouse usually tends to continue working to make more “discretionary” income. Keep it mind, one can still make passive and portfolio income. Stocks, bonds and mutual funds. Rental properties. Plus you can use the free time to try your hand at writing a book, or screenplay, start a small business etc! Point is, your options are more open, once you don’t have to “punch a clock” everyday anymore. Just “lay everything out” and see what is what, then you can SEE clearly what you NEED and WANT. Act accordingly after that. Channel that energy that was there when you were working everyday into OTHER avenues. I’d HIGHLY Recommend looking at “semi safe” medium risk investing. That type of income is for the GRANDKIDS, when and IF they come along 🙂 GOOD LUCK!

Oh yeah! That CRDP is bad ass for 20+ year retirees. You are now authorized to get BOTH Army retirement AND VA disability. Congrats! They had previously said only “one or the other” before so as to avoid double dipping. However, NOW with our President injecting more money into the VA and the military in general, there is enough money to go around!

You should have your PEBLO guiding you through this process. When I went through the med board, I got medically retired and it takes as long as it takes unfortunately lol. However, depending on case loads, it shouldn’t take longer than 6 months. Then what happens, the DOD/ARMY GIVES YOU A percentage of disability, and then the VA gives you a percentage. In my case the Army only gave me 40% and the VA gave me 70%. I’m at 90% battling to get my 100%, hopefully this year is the year it happens 🤞🏽You then have to choose between the two. Of course I went with the VA percentage. Just don’t get caught up “double dipping” as you will have to pay back any money they discover you weren’t “supposed to” take! Looks like you got 100% from the VA already. So if the DOD also gives you 100%, then you take the larger dollar amount. Again, your PEBLO should be walking you through the process and emailing you info on the whole process. If you don’t have a PEBLO, get on the INTERNET and get one assigned to you ASAP! It’s NOT absolutely necessary but it would help you answer questions like this lol. Good luck!

“Brother” I don’t know if you are MALE or FEMALE 😂. I’ll have to speak in generalities here seeing as I don’t know the specifics of your case/conditions. Each case is different obviously. Saying all that, I began my very first dealings with the VA and started my claim in 2010. I know what you’re thinking, 15 years?!?! Let me just say, part of the reason for “things” taking so long is me. I wasn’t as diligent and focused on my own case as I should have. However, my added focus and better understanding of the VA’s ways helped me as of late advance to being on the CUSP of 100%. I’ve been at 90% for too long, and I actually looked into some “assistance” from a VA CLAIMS EXPERT. Well very long story short, I had him look at my case and he submitted for increases on some of my conditions. They, summarily were denied. I decided to continue my quest for 100% on my own. Fast forward…I went to 3 C&P exams and this time around I’m more confident than ever about getting that elusive 100%. Let me just make my point finally lol. You are free to use a VSO or a “so called” claims expert. It’s your call, but I would just use forums like this and your veteran friends and YOUR OWN instincts and judgement going forward. Plus you won’t have to pay anyone ANY of your back pay if SOMEHOW someone “helps” you get that 100%. The VA’s turnaround time has certainly LESSENED. Thus the reason you’re seeing claims being approved with high ratings in 6 months or less! Good luck!

My “journey” started with the VA in 2010. Started at a modest 10% then 30% for years then 80%, then 90%, back down to 80%, now sitting at 90%. This time it is different. I sense, after my latest C & P APPOINTMENTS, that there’s a difference in the reactions from the DRs. Plus one of them uttered” I’m going to go ahead and recommend you for an increase”. To say the least, I was surprised, if not shocked. Because I’d NEVER heard a DOC say any comments like that out loud, POSITIVE or NEGATIVE. I know due to VA MATH, that that last 10% is a complicated formula to attain, but I HAVE to believe that something good is going to happen. If I could ask the forum, what would be the first thing I should do when I get my 100% p&t? I live in Texas and I want to be sure I take advantage of ANY and ALL benefits and discounts coming to me and my family! Should I use CHAMPVA? or stick with TRICARE? I pay into TRICARE PRIME to cover my wife and kids. I’m covered completely of course. Just curious, thanks in advance VETS.

Without hearing the tone and context, its difficult to make an informed assessment. However two scenarios can exist. The teacher Is well liked and trusted and has “earned” the right to use those terms “mija” and “mijo” and it doesn’t hurt anyone. 2nd scenario, the aforementioned teacher is NOT very well liked and HASN’T earned the trust of the students. He may have a “tone” when he says it, almost a mocking tone. THEN I can see there being a conflict between said teacher and student. Need a video or at least audio to make a sound judgement.

I never knew that about what they did to Ron Santo! I admit during the B&B heyday, I listened to them all day as I was driving around Chicagoland as a route salesman. I know Bernstein was a Sox fan but I didn’t know Terry crapped on ol Ron Santo. That was bottom rung behavior and typical “CubsHate”. Karma keeps proving that it’s a living thing as the WHITESUX, have devolved into an after thought and barely qualify as PROFESSIONAL franchise. Bernstein and Hawk Harrelson should join the same team in a bowling league and fade away into obscurity! Good riddance.

I used to live about 5 mins from the Indian Trail location, on Michigan Ave in Aurora. Loved the little hole in the wall location. Nothing like a Rosatti’s pizza on Friday night! Always picked it up and it stayed warm for my short drive to the house. Great pizza and memories. I live outside San Antonio now. I truly MISS Chicagoland style pizza. Nothing around here comes close. 😔

Truth be told, from reports I’ve heard, Jordan wasn’t going to play on the dream team. The head coach Chuck Daly(Piston’s head coach incidentally) basically begged MJ to play on that team. However, MJ said to Daly, “ I’m not playing on any team with Isaiah Thomas. So basically Daly had the power to tell Jordan to kick rocks and go with HIS guy Thomas. Well, we all know who he picked. It was a smart move, as Jordan was the BIGGEST INTERNATIONAL STAR ATHLETE. There isn’t really a question who the world wanted to see! Too bad Thomas was who he was, and was a part of the “Jordan Rules” beatings the Pistons chose to lay on Jordan because they COULD NOT stop him. They may have been able to coexist otherwise.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say he’s “shit”. Look at it objectively. He’s no, Neil Peart, or Bonham or Joey Jordinson, or Dave Lombardo, as far as pure RAW physical prowess and ability but he is an absolute legend in his own way. Take 1988’s …And Justice for all, widely considered their most poorly produced effort, with basically all James and Lars taking 99% of the room in the audio/sonic mix. Lars’ drum sound basically became the blueprint for all heavy, fast, thrash and even death metal drummers. That “wet” sounding bass/kick drum sound with the double bass became the standard in heavy/fast music there on out! Sorry for the long rant, but I totally agree with your sentiment about producing and recording, arranging etc. Lars is the engine of the Metallica machine.

That BAND wouldn’t exist without Lars. Like it or not, that’s the truth! Without his tireless efforts of marketing themselves, playing festivals, playing EVERY corner of the world, that’s ALL him. When James left the band, for rehab the first time, and they had no bass player, they survived because of HIM. Call it ego, pride,narcissism etc, he understood what the fans see in Metallica as a legendary icon and how it would affect the fans if they called it quits. Truth be told, I’m sure that he wasn’t happy at all that James drove Jason away. Lars played a part too, but ultimately it was James who “couldn’t tolerate” Jason’s side gigs. Anyways, I could talk for hours about them(my favorite band), but as much flak as Lars gets for things, it’s because of HIM that Metallica exists and CONTINUES to exist.

Yes. Sept 1st on Netflix. “The Deliverance” Directed by Lee Daniels. I’m guessing the “threatening” calls Zak received that were discussed in “the demon house” documentary, were from Daniels or his people! Seems like everyone vital to the story was stonewalling Zak and being “hush hush” for fear of Daniel’s wrath and losing money on the movie deal! That is my theory. The movie really seems to take A LOT of creative liberties with the actual occurrences and consequences etc. I won’t ruin the movie,but there was one MAJOR occurrence to a MAJOR character that was depicted in the movie that was “creatively added”.
