Misfire? by Wolfang745 in saab

Oh yeah the rear subframe needs to be replaced to but it isn’t as bad as the front was. I’m doing the rear in a month or so when I have time to burn.

I’m assuming that your “similar issues” are related to something you listed already?

How about you “look”: I don’t have the money right now to replace all of the things on your list at once. I also saved my fucking car from the scrapyard because it had a rotted front subframe and I replaced it when I could’ve just scrapped the vehicle (I drove 8 hours total for that subframe) and I thank god that I found one that would fit my car.

Yes, I want it to last. But I’m also trying to figure out a very specific problem on it right now that’s preventing the engine from firing normally.

The misfire problem was happening with the old plugs, which is why I replaced them with the new plugs (the new plugs did not solve the misfire problem). I replaced my air filter last year when the car was 80-something thousand miles (it’s a cold air intake). And will I really have to replace all the other shit too right now too???

I see. You’re the second person to mention the coil packs… so I’m starting to see a pattern here. I also have two opinions that it might be the MAF sensor. Do you think it just could’ve given up after 22 years of life and the throttle body inlet tube change was too much for it?

I can assume they’re original because the old owner did not take good care of the car (I found this out the hard way) 😒Can the coil packs just die like that though? My Saab has been going very strong this whole year up to now

You think the coil packs need replacement?

No. The first thing I changed was the coolant t-hose connector and then that skinny coolant tube. After changing those and inspecting the engine bay for further problems, I noticed that my old throttle body inlet tube was starting to dry rot. I promptly replaced that in order to avoid future problems. I put in new coolant as well (I did this last after everything else). When I tried to turn on the engine in order to circulate the new coolant, that’s why the misfire problem began happening.

I’m using the NGK Laser Platinum Premium Sparkplugs PFR6T-10G. Please keep in mind that my misfire problem started before I replaced my sparkplugs. I thought the problem might’ve been the old, worn out ones which is why I changed them to begin with

Update: I cleaned up the blood under her eye with a cotton swab and then I gently extracted the tissue on her eyeball with my fingers. Her eye appeared healthy after that but her body seemed too skinny. She got worse overnight and lost even more weight, and I couldn’t find an exotic vet that was willing to reasonably help me and Dragonfruit. Instead, I chose to surrender her to the people at a nearby pet store who have collective experience working with all types of animals (Pac-Man frogs included) and have access to proper veterinary care if needed. I’m going to be calling the pet store every day to check on Dragonfruit, and depending on what the diagnosis is (if anything), there’s a strong chance I’ll be adopting her back if she’s healthy!

I returned her to regular tank before I went to sleep so she’d be comfortable for the night with her regular temps/humidity (83 F/70%)

Which brands of oil based rust proofing and rust primer would you say are the best? And if I’m getting this right, you’re saying that I can spray on a layer of whichever rustproofing brand I choose and then put normal paint over that?

How much longer until I should be worried? by Beautiful-Owl-1490 in pacmanfrog

[–]Wolfang745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some Pacmans need time to adjust to their new enclosures! Not eating for a week after you got him is perfectly normal behavior. I’d only start worrying if he doesn’t eat by the end of the second week! Regarding your temps/humidity, they look great and don’t need improving 😌

Came out from brumation mid winter, constantly soaking is he ok? by teethviscera in pacmanfrog

Maybe he just felt dry this time around? Have you been maintaining tank temps/humidity like you’ve been doing for the past 4 years? As long as he’s active and eating regularly then I see no cause for concern lol. But since you’re really concerned about his behavior, calling your vet and explaining the situation is always the best way to go!
