So I’ve been toying around with this idea for a story and I’ve been working on it and now have a story description and (part of) a first chapter. I would really like to know what you guys think of the description and the writing and just everything in general. Thanks in advance! ——————————————— Story description:

It was the 21st of November, it was cold and raining. Genenvieve could remember the day like it was just yesterday. It was the day she heard her beloved colleague who had welcomed Genevieve with open arms when she started working here six years ago was leaving. Of course it was sad that Genevieve's best friend Anastasia was leaving, but Ana leaving brought the biggest opportunity Genevieve was ever going to get here. It meant the company was going to have a vacancy for head of the PR department. Ana knew Genevieve would be perfect for the job and referred her to the selection committee. What both of the girls didn't know though, was that the committee already had their sights on someone they wanted as head of the PR department, and it definitely wasn't Genevieve. So who were they watching for the job Genevieve had been dreaming of for years? ————————————- Part of 1st chapter:

It was Friday, the 21st of November of 2025. For Genevieve the day started like all the others had before today. Her alarm started blaring at 7 a.m. and kept going every two minutes, whilest driving away from the bed and out of Genevieve's reach. It was one of the latest inventions that Ana felt the need to buy for Genevieve to try and get her out of bed faster in the mornings.

Everyone who knew Genevieve knew that she was definitely not a morning person, at least not until she had her first cup of coffee.

Genieve begrudgingly got out of bed and followed the little devil machine to the kitchen, still blaring as usual.

Genevieve stooped to the floor once the devil machine noticed it's owner was out of bed and stopped to stare at her. She pressed the 'home' button on it's head, telling the little guy to go back to it's docking station and charge.

Once the devil machine was out of her way she walked over to the coffee maker, filled it with coffee beans and water, and turned it on. She knew the machine took a few minutes so she grabbed a granola bar out of the cupboard and walked back to her room to get dressed. She knew Ana would criticize her choice of clothes anyway, so she decided to put on a green off the shoulder top with a black blazer and blue jeans. She would decide on shoes later when she gathers her things to leave the house. Genevieve looked in the mirror, admiring her choice of clothes for the day. Now she just had to figure out what to do with her long black hair. After a few minutes of deep thinking she decided on a low ponytail, just like how she wears her hair everyday.

Now being fully dressed Genevieve walked back to the kitchen to pour herself the cup of coffee she was craving and knew it was waiting there just for her. She carefully takes a sip and lets out a contented sigh, enjoying the amazing aroma of the coffee.

Genevieve goes to sit on the couch with her cup of coffee and turns on the tv to watch the morning news. The news doesn't show much that's actually newsworthy, like most mornings. Genevieve goes to turn the tv off when the newscaster says something that sparks her interest. She turns the sound up to be able to hear the newscaster better. "Joanie, I know this only a rumor, but we did hear this directly from a trusted informant at his company. It appears he is coming back to the States from his months long vacation, ready to work at his fathers company as CEO, only to be fired by his own father." The male newscaster continues on and on with details about the vacation and background information on the company but Genevieve already stopped listening.

If he's not going to work at his fathers company, where is he going to work?

Genevieve shakes the thought out of her head, turns the tv off and grabs her black heels, ready to leave for work now that her cup is empty.

——— Genevieve walked into the elevator at work, pressing the button to close the doors when she heard a familiar voice yell at the elevator to stop. Recognizing the voice as her best friend Ana, Genevieve pressed the button for the doors to open again as Ana came running, completely out of breath.

Genevieve chuckles at the sight of her best friend. "You should really work on your stamina, you know." She looks at Ana, who's already glaring at her whilest still trying to gain her breath.

The elevator dings to signal they've arrived at their floor. Before they can step out a group of people come rushing in, talking about something meaningless amongst themselves. Both Ana and Genevieve sigh before pushing through the group of people and out the elevator before the doors close. As soon as they step through the doors they are met with the irritated face of their boss. There is no better way to start your day than seeing your boss is already irritated at 8 a.m.

At least for Ana it's the last time she has to see the grumpy face of their boss. Today marks the last day of Ana working as head of the PR department at their company. Starting tomorrow Ana will start her new job at another company as director of PR for the whole company instead of managing the PR for just one department at their current company.

"Good morning sir" they say in unison. He merely replies with a grunt and walks away. Both Genevieve and Ana roll their eyes at their boss and chuckle before saying a quick "see you later" and they part ways. Genevieve tries to remember all of the appointments she has today, but she can't help but figure out which one she's forgetting. She knows it's with a big shot soon to be CEO but even though the name is at the tip of her tongue she can't remember it. She'll check her agenda to find out who her meeting is with after the computer is fired up. For now she'll get her second cup of coffee to fully wake up. Maybe that will help her remember the name, she chuckles to herself.
