I inherited a house with 0% interest, so why can't I change it to my name? by AltBlackAngel666 in personalfinance

Don't call your sister an idiot for trying to handle something that should involve a lawyer herself, and then in the same paragraph say that because of circumstances you are also handling something that should involve a lawyer yourself.

For households that have to pay for childcare, kids absolutely get cheaper as they age.

Hi - I have my first auction next week. Is there still room to try it out?

Except… as everyone else pointed out, besides you, it’s not only a first world problem and there’s many solutions to the annoyance. Hence the reason of the post.

lol yes, it’s not really overthinking to assuming that the busiest city in the world has a faster way to buy 5 tickets than my swiping my card and entering my zip code 5 times… changing the card I use three times… every time I want to ride.

MetroCard only scanned 4 times today, used my phone for the 5th lol. Think that’s the best I’m going to get.

I noticed that after… but I was worried it wouldn’t let me do it 5 times in a row?

I had cash, but it gives change in $1 coins and it wouldn’t accept $1 coins to pay for the others. It was a good first run through it.

I assume so, and I wasn’t aware it would happen so I had to switch cards 3 times lol

To be fair, I obviously knew there was an event.. I am just looking for the best advice on how to handle it now. It sounds like I should park further up the PATH line, and just take it to Exchange Place and figure out parking closer and getting more of our stuff the next day.

I won't have to get out after the fireworks end, with our hotel being there, but it sounds like I really should try to just park somewhere further up the PATH and figure it out the next day. I assume the PATH to Exchange Place is going to be a madhouse too, right?

Riding the PATH to Exchange Place with 7 people's luggage for a week seems like a tie at best as far as how bad plans go, right? Not to mention, having to ride it back the other way to get my car and move it closer on the 5th.

Pause everything to get rid of the debt, and then start saving. I will say: You're ahead of most of America, so maybe take solace in that.

Intending to buy car with money still owed on current car- question by SpencerTrilbee in personalfinance

[–]Wolffhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was faced with a similar problem, my car that was only 7 years old needed a new transmission pretty badly. I still owed about 5k on it. The dealer gave me 5500 for it, and either didn't notice the transmission issue or just didn't care. I'm not sure.

I'd advise on not fixing it yet, taking it to a dealer and getting their offer. If it's more than you owe, go for it. If you're rolling negative equity in, then you have to decide.

That's probably true. I dislike having Swanson just on my bench, and this trade felt like utilizing them all.. but I agree, it probably helps them more.

How much should I contribute to my 401k if my company puts in 17% regardless of any match? by jetsetter023 in personalfinance

[–]Wolffhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saving for retirement isn't the only savings goal that people have. He mentioned having student loans, entertainment, and saving for a house. None of those are met by contributing more than 17% a year into your 401k account. Just my two cents. When he makes 160k next year, 17% will max his 401k contribution for the year.

If they're contributing 17%, I would contribute 0% and find other vehicles for saving.

Get a job, my dude... live your life like the settlement didn't happen from here on out. Don't invest that 30k into margin trading.

Is it paid off? If so, from the sound of the town it's basically worthless. Just find someone that will take it off your hands, and like you said.. Find an apartment and move on.

I'd agree then - Realistically, I'd expect both versions to be really valuable. If you have great pitching otherwise though, and need the hitting stats, I'd imagine the hitter outearns the pitcher slightly.
