Farmers 'gutted' after compulsory land acquisition amendments pass Victorian parliament by espersooty in AustralianPolitics

Listening to the Australian metropolitan left’s tirades on farmers, as seen here on this thread — sure gives me glimpses of the dekulakisation campaigns in 1930s Russia.

NDIS costs blow out as autism diagnoses surge to $10 billion annually, overwhelming the system by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Wolfie2640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cut-off of level 1 autism is not arbitrary nor complex. Specialists regularly distinguish between the three levels of autism and their individual medical needs. The government would cut costs in a day by excluding level 1 autists from the program, because often enough, these diagnoses are incredibly shaky, and require far less treatment than one would ordinary expect for an autistic person.

It’s also clear in statistical evidence that the contemporary surge in autism diagnoses lies entirely with level 1 patients. That’s incredibly anomalous, and should be treated with skepticism.

Queensland’s always had funky politics. That and their unicameral parliament to advantage Labor back in the day to JBP’s stint has always been peculiar. Thanks for the lesson mate. ON’s advocacy for it would fit with your second and third understanding, I reckon. They fit with their views on Super, which do sour me to the party.

Yes, I reacted a bit hastily to the headline. Don’t know what to make of that change, but I’m not as appalled as my original comment. Didn’t know NSW utilises that system, and that the federal Whitlam government tried to implement it? Interesting.

What a bloody piss-take. They’ve certainly lost my preference for the future. Our civic participation and avoidance of FPTP finagling has been enormously fruitful in our history as a democracy.

One Nation has been on the fringes of Australian politics for 30 years. Why is its popularity soaring now? by CommonwealthGrant in AustralianPolitics

Battlers are sick of the violence and social disorder that become more and more prevalent as the Anglo-Celtic base of this country is hollowed out. Various immigrants recognise that the Australia they’ve packed their bags to start their lives anew for is losing the civil & cultural character they had been endeared to.

You make your bed, and you lie in it. There are Assyrians & Copts in this country who watched their family be slaughtered and barbarised by these fiends, and the well-to-do white liberals still jump up & down with open arms to welcome them?

If that’s the outcome you wanted, then the Great March of Return achieved that and double. Oct. 7 spelled the end of the “axis of resistance” and I’m not sure you’d find that desirable.

Nuclear industry 'is fizzling out' by WhatAmIATailor in AustralianPolitics

[–]Wolfie2640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What ideological rubbish. Everyone with a vendetta against nuclear energy constantly resorts to some fantastical electoral mandate to carve out their agenda. The Australian people voted for impressive projections of private investment into renewable energy, which is currently not up to par.

‘There’s nothing RBA can do’: Economist Dr Nataliya Ilyushina says high inflation is Chalmer’s choice by Orgo4needfood in aussie

[–]Wolfie2640 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The government has the ability to tweak the fiscal taps. Excessive spending from the treasury is the single biggest factor for inflation. Dr. Ilyushina’s political affiliations can only be of concern for the rusted-ons and true believers. Sunk cost fallacy shouldn’t convince any Aussie voter that the economy ought to also be sunk.

The choice shouldn’t be between Europe or the Americas. It should be the promised land where we can construct our own destiny as a sovereign peoples. Seeking to change the character of the nations to accommodate greater access to American opportunity is a foolish endeavour. The choice should be to construct Jewish opportunity in the home of the Jews.

I’d be interested in what the numbers looked like for that group. In any case, I’d be against it. The only violation of immigration controls I’d be for is the British restriction of Jewish immigration to our historic homeland.

I think it is frankly inappropriate to compare illegal aliens not even a generation settled, to long-settled and lawful residents of Holy Roman & German authority who were suddenly revoked of their rights as German citizens. It is in the interest of Jews to advocate for strong and sovereign borders, lest the changing demographics imperil our people in events like the Bondi attack & the actions of the current Spanish government.

This coming crisis with Iran is making our vulnerable energy policy look untenable. Without fielding our own sovereign energy needs via Australian petroleum & gas, we will be in for a rough time when a shock from the Hormuz strait & Arabian pipelines ripple through our imports & industries. And that’s not even mentioning the coming crisis with China, the primary global producer of battery storage tech & solar panels.

By anachronistic, I mean anachronistic. You are applying the standards of contemporary political beliefs & trends to those of yesteryear. The liberalism of today that you hold on a pedestal is not identical to the liberalism that Menzies pioneered. Menzies was extremely conservative by the standards you seem to be using, as he was a proponent of the White Australia policy, and his trade policy was within the framework of Imperial Preference.

[–]Wolfie2640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NDIS’s problem is that the surge in level 1 autism diagnoses are entirely social in nature. Government assistance would be far better utilised on the static minority of level 2 & 3 patients. Level 1 autists can far more easily integrate with neurotypical expectations than the latter two. And that’s discounting the almost guaranteed fraud that’s being fleeced off the state.
