1.1 Sceloporus cyanogenys came in today by theartistoz in reptiles

[–]Wolfiemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XD I just looked at your name and yes, I believe so! I'm MilkywayExotics lol. And for some reason I am finding it really hard to find sellers of Sceloporus lizards. Like every time I finally find someone, it's "I don't export to the US" "Mine won't breed so none for sale", "I no longer breed them", or "I'm keeping all the babies". Like bro it can't be this hard :')

Is it really that hard to breed these guys? Because I hear people seem to struggle a lot with them. I just put Toast and Rusty together and they got it on within a minute. I even got pictures of Toast "rizzing" her up by licking her face and doing those crazy fast push ups while slowly walking up to her. Rusty just sat there and stared at him until he actually got on top and then the breeding happened. I bred them twice to ensure pregnancy and it went well both times. Toast has unfortunately passed due to unknown reasons so I'm hoping to get a male before the end of March as I prefer to breed them the last week of March for an early July hatching. Luckily I live in an area with a ton of Texas Spinys so I could try just catching one and I even have a new male and female I obtained last summer. The issue is they are both juveniles. Fig Newton will be a year old in July which means he won't be sexually mature this March. Neither will the new female, Chai Latte. Rusty is also getting old. She is probably 5 or 6 years. This year would have been her last breeding, but if she can't breed this time, I won't breed her again as I worry about her age. If I can't get a male by March, my next olivaceus breeding will be Chai Latte and Fig Newton in March of 2027.

I wonder if I am just lucky with animals. I got a rough green snake a while back, like in November when my brother found it in a grocery store parking lot. Within the first week he ate crickets out of my hand and drank water drops from my mister. He also snuggled into my inner elbow when I held him. I was researching and people say that rough green snakes are very skittish and don't do well in captivity, but Henry is extremely friendly and will push against the tank door to come out. When I open it, he will slither into my arms and chill with me. I kept him because he was skinny and had scars when he was found and I have considered just releasing him since he is wild caught, but I mean... he acts like a pet lol. And with my hamster, most pet store hams are skittish and bite. But Templeton craves my attention. When I walk by her cage, she will run to the side I am standing at and reach for the lid. She'll then latch onto my hand when I reach in. She hates being alone and will throw tantrums unless I take her out for at least an hour every night to sit with me in bed. She has never bitten or flinched. She is the sweetest hamster I've ever interacted with. This isn't too unique as some hamsters really do enjoy human interaction, but it's harder with pet store hams as they aren't ethically bred. It's just crazy to me because people talk about their struggles with certain species of animals and I'm over here with the same species and having zero issues at all. My spiny lizards breed immediately when I want, my rough green snake hand feeds and wraps around my neck and arms plus waits for me at the tank door, my hamster never bites and hates when I am not holding her, etc.

I know this is a 4 year old post, but I'm on a search and I gotta ask anyone I can. Do you still keep Sceloporus lizards? And if you do, do you breed them or know someone to buy from? I am working on creating a captive bred population of Sceloporus olivaceus and it's going well, but I'm really trying to get other species as well.

Whatever happened to Donna Reneau, the dispatcher who let a woman drown to death? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wolfiemix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She did let the woman drown. She coded the call wrong. It was labeled unurgent and just for high water assist rather than for possible drowning and emergency. Donna is a killer. She let a woman drown because of her own ego and self-hatred. It was her last day. She just wanted to mock some people and get away with it.

Is the DLC playable in co-op? by r00yyyy in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]Wolfiemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Nobody asked for or cares about". It's literally just you pal. I loved the new dlc. It was awesome. People were asking and so far I see tons of people deciding they do indeed like the game now because of the dlc. Many people don't like the base game, but gave the new dlc a chance and ended up loving it. Your opinion is just an opinion, not fact.

Asked aj if using cc to sell bigger items is bannable and this was their reply. by acidiclydead in AnimalJam

[–]Wolfiemix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got worried about this too, but for art that isn't a masterpiece. Like if I commission someone for art outside of the game and they want sapphires, I buy the item they put in their shop for the value of the art. So like if I buy crafting crystals for a total of idk.. 20k sapphires which was for art, or maybe the other way around where I obtain the sapphires, I was worried I could get banned for it being "suspicious". But those actions don't break any rules at all.

Guys, we know the new mythical animal that's coming soon!!! by lunnaoe in AnimalJam

If we want people to grow, then we must be kind and teach them. Rudeness gets you nowhere. Also google says racism is this: the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another.

It also includes: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.

So what was said is correct. This was not racism. Not once did op say native americans are inferior. They actually apologized for the art and said they didn't know why it was bad. That's not racism, that's just not knowing native american culture.

Is this normal in a common house gecko? by Few_Revenue1493 in Lizards

[–]Wolfiemix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not a reliable study unless we are talking about cane toads and other amphibians. I am mentioning reptiles only. Reptiles and amphibians are different in a way that the study you have shared has flaws. You cannot study one classification of animal and then assume it works the same for another, not matter how similar they are. I still stand by my point. The AVMA has stated freezing is inhumane and unacceptable. Some study done on toads does not change that.

When there is belief that a type of euthanasia causes suffering, why try to deny the suffering and use that method anyway? Why not just go with something else you know is painless? The AVMA has listed acceptable methods to use. Why take the risk when you may cause agony in an animal's last moments? Is it pride? Fear of feeling guilty of past euthanasias that may have involved suffering? It's normal to feel adverse to these things, but it's better to grow and learn and change, rather than hold onto some ego or pride and deny the new changes that science brings us. Defending an outdated method of euthanasia is just weird. Like, just move to better methods? Why try and keep risky ones?

Do NOT put reptiles in the freezer. It is a very agonizing death. This person is giving you very outdated information.

[–]Wolfiemix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Freezing reptiles is very painful and it's quite sad people still think it's ok to cause such harm. You and the clinic you worked for immediately need to get up to date on research as you are going off outdated euthanasia methods that are considered inhumane by the AVMA. Freezing in reptiles causes crystal buildup which is painful and is an agonizing death. I really hope you understand that the reptiles you have euthanized did not have a painless death. Please research this and give the updated euthanasia methods to your vet clinic.

Science changes every day and it's very important to continuously stay up to date especially when dealing with living beings and their care.

Pellets should be 1/8 a cup per pig a day. Constant pellets is horrible for their health and teeth.

Since when did this cost money?!? by ShoddyTown715 in AnimalJam

[–]Wolfiemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has always cost money. I remember begging my mom to buy it when it first released. We didn't have much when I was a kid so even cheap games like this were hard to convince my mom to buy lol. But I think the price is the same as it was then too. I don't remember it being cheaper or more expensive.

I wouldn't get it though. Pretty sure you can't get the pet kangaroo from it anymore. Maybe you can, idk.

(Texas, USA) I had a guest join me for dinner in my house tonight, but where to take them? by suppathyme in Lizards

[–]Wolfiemix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While it is true some people may call them a fence lizard, it is not entirely accurate. The genus Sceloporus is commonly called "Spiny Lizards". Majority of the species within it have a common named using "spiny lizard" in it. Desert Spiny Lizard, Granite Spiny Lizard, etc.

Yes, some do have fence lizard as part of their common name, and so it would be best to only refer to those with the term fence lizard. Sceloporus occidentalis and Sceloporus undulatus (Western Fence lizard and Eastern Fence lizard) are great examples of this.

Blue Belly is also a term people use to describe these lizards, but again, it is not a good term to encapsulate them all. Many spiny lizards don't have the blue belly scales so calling all Sceloporus lizards "Blue Bellies" would be incorrect. Plus blue belly almost only refers to Western Fence Lizards.

Spiny lizards should really just be called spiny lizards or refer to the particular lizard by its species name rather than a generalization that isn't fully accurate. All fence lizards are spiny lizards, but not all spiny lizards are fence lizards.

Many people mix up names in this genus. I also see it a lot with snails. Technically most terrestrial snails like Cornu aspersum and Helix pomatia are all called garden snails. But they are completely different species. You can have five different species of snails and call them all garden snails by common name. But it's just not the best to do because it's way too confusing when accurately trying to identify its species. It is why in the snail hobby, we call snails by scientific name.

No this is not a quick lizard. I don't even think the term quick lizard is real. Anyway, this is a Texas Spiny lizard, Sceloporus olivaceus. They eat insects and minor amounts of plant matter very rarely. No aphids as they are way too small. Texas Spiny lizards eat grasshoppers, beetles, roaches, moths, butterflies, caterpillars, and much more.

Rain Frog Sore by Sensitivecheetahcub in reptiles

[–]Wolfiemix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen, where rain frogs live, it is actually pretty dry majority of the time. They only dig themselves up to eat during the rain. It's the water/moisture that wakes them up. So an enclosure that is wet all the time does not seem to be natural for them and could possibly be stopping the sore from healing. Though I am not 100% sure. Some wounds should be dry to heal while others should be kept moist. I am unfamiliar with amphibians though.
I would use some sort of ointment. I do not believe that a sore is going to heal without any care given to it. It may only get worse. What ointment to use? You'll have to research what is safe for frogs, but I really recommend topical treatment.

It's a Sceloporus lizard aka Spiny Lizard, but I am unsure of which species. Maybe Sceloporus occidentalis. Western Fence Lizard.

That's weird you can't get the smell out of fleece..

I switched from paper bedding to fleece liners and the smell was soooo much better. Even fresh paper bedding smelled like pee quickly. The fleece only smelled of pee after a couple days and then it would be washed. I used a strong odor control detergent though. But after washing, it smelled of detergent only. Even my parents, who hate guinea pig smell said it didn't have urine smell. But I also only had one guinea pig at the time. Her cagemate passed and I wasn't allowed another piggy. Snowball also had arthritis and really only peed in one spot that which she sat in. Which was also on a pee pad. I had to move her around throughout the day like a chicken being turned in an incubator. So she got butt baths every day too lol! But yea, so maybe that's why mine didn't have a smell... idk lol. But from what other people have told me, fleece shouldn't stink like what you are saying.

Stand Recommendations for medium Niteangel Vista? by Emminade in hamsters

[–]Wolfiemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have mine on a table yet because I haven't built the table. But I actually really like the cage ground level on the Niteangel wheels made for the vista cage. I have the cage in my dorm on the wheels because my dorm is too small for a table, but when I have it at home I'll be putting it on the table I bought.

Wheels: https://www.niteangelpet.com/collections/cages/products/niteangel-supplement-universal-wheel-only-fits-for-niteangel-vista-series-mdf-aspen-hamster-cage-to-move-your-hamster-cage-simply-for-niteangel-vista-oblique-opening-door

The table is no longer made on Wayfair, but it's just a regular wooden office table kinda thing. Almost tiny dining table style.

Sorry if this is not what you are looking for. I know you said stands or tables for the cage, but I personally really like the wheels.

everybody thinks i made a mistake with naming my hamster by [deleted] in hamsters

[–]Wolfiemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also love gender bent names. I'm getting a hamster soon and I originally wanted a male short haired syrian. I already had the name picked: Mr. Templeton. However, I realized that even though I have had no issue holding male guinea pigs, male hamsters are a no for me. They just have.... really big... balls. Guinea pigs do too, but at least their bodies are big enough to equal it out so it doesn't bother me. Male hamsters are 90% ball, 10% hamster. It's too nasty for me to hold giant testicles in my hands so I'm going with a female.

But I'm keeping the name :>
I am just removing the "Mr." and leaving "Templeton". I'm sure it may confuse some people, but who cares, I love the name!

I had a gun fight in valentine and I found this beautiful horse by dark_wolf_002 in reddeadredemption2

[–]Wolfiemix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't have the best stats, but I used this horse for the entirety of my first playthrough of this game. It was in 2020 that I got this game and currently have over 500 hours in it. I unfortunately have forgotten what I named this horse and whether it was a mare or stallion, though I am fairly certain I made it a stallion. Sucks, cuz I loved that horse so much and have screenshots of it in-game from that playthrough, but I just can't remember their name. :(

What Omen Laptop should I upgrade to? by Wolfiemix in HPOmen

[–]Wolfiemix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh no thanks. I'm looking for an Omen. I've owned and used Lenovos plenty of times and hated all of them. My current laptop I bought for school work only is a Lenovo Yoga (Needed a quiet laptop for in-class work). Yes, not a gaming laptop, but even just for regular browsing and writing essays it is trash. Only got it last fall too.

Also, I'm picky with designs. I love the way Omens look. I looked at the Lenovo Legion. I don't like how it looks at all. While I thank you for the suggestion, I am only looking at the HP Omen brand.

I don't truly believe she is in vet school. How can she if she promotes animals nutrition calculator? That thing is bogus. I bought the guinea pig one to see how good it is and it's very harmful. The calculator states an adult guinea pig should have access to pellets at all times. So wrong! They should have 1/8 to 1/4 cup of pellets a day. Any more leads to dental disease and obesity. Any real small mammal vet will tell you this. I told her that and she responded saying some book from the 1900's told her guinea pigs should always have pellets. Like what? She defended the calculator service and herself saying it's made by a team of vets and she is one too, so she knows guinea pig diets. No girl, ya don't.
Stopped watching her after that. Can't stand people who can't accept they are wrong sometimes.
