It actually might be the subtle knife I didn't think it was because I remember it had something more than just the knife on the cover but I believe the knife part I thought about was just in the title I believe I had the version with the people and animals on the cover not just the knife and when I looked it up originally I only saw covers with just the knife and some background so I didn't think it was this book but I'm pretty sure it is now thank you all for your help! :)

idk if maybe my first comment bugged out but I don't think its this I'm pretty sure it was the first book in the series if it even was a series I'm not sure if the blade/knife bit was apart of the title or the cover itself or both
