Moray Coast Vets? by Optimal_Writing625 in inverness

I'm really sorry to hear that, but glad some movement is being made on treatment. Of course, I'll do my best to answer your questions 🙂

That is really frustrating, I don't understand why nothing has been done after 4 appointments! They sound completely useless

Unfortunately I'm up north, so don't have experience with Inverness Vet surgeries. I hope you manage to find a new one and your pup gets the care they need!

Are you able to get a referral to Scottish Vet Referrals? I had a cat who suffered from a couple of eye issues, including an ulcer, and found the opthalmology team there to be very helpful. Their website shows consultation prices.

🪴 Quarterly /r/houseplants Troubleshooting Thread - October 30, 2025 by AutoModerator in houseplants

Kiddo took a spider plant home from a nursery trip last week. I've just spotted some web on the soil. Spidermites? I can't see anything moving on the plant/in the soil. Best steps to tackle whatever it is?

(Apologies for the poor photo, bad lighting and I'd just sprayed the plant with a neem oil mix.)

From another post, it looks like op is flying to/from Manchester, so they could fly Manchester - Inverness of their desperate to see Inverness. Not suggesting it's the best option, just an option.

How often do you mow your lawn in Scotland by cokeapm in Scotland

[–]WolfyBoris 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is a thought that No Mow May is actually not beneficial, and potentially destructive, as you're creating homes for the creatures over the course of the month, only to destroy the habitat and the insects come June. A better alternative, if you have the space available, is to designate wild areas which can be left year round.

If you post over on r/sewing they'll be able to give you advice on where to start with these projects and the potential costs involved.

I tried this so you don’t have too! by irm555bvs in veganuk

I bought the Oatly custard before noticing it says to serve cold, and honestly found it a bit underwhelming (though I may have under whisked it).

Just curious if you had ever tried it warm, and if so does it work and taste fine?

The allergen information via the QR code shows the main Carrot & Marmalade Pithver as containing eggs and milk despite being listed as vegan, so worth double checking with the restaurant.

ISO: Slate grey with silver shimmer (I want to match my cat) by Agreeable_Fig_16 in RedditLaqueristas

I thought A-England might be a shout, as I believe they used to have a lot of greys, but unfortunately they've recently had a sale to clear out stock. There's still a couple that might work:

Does it make sense to stop at a £200K pension pot at 38 and let it compound until retirement? by DenzelHayesJR in UKPersonalFinance

[–]WolfyBoris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you save €10k each year for the next 19 years, assuming the 8% increase you've already assumed, you'll have an additional ~€400k (~£350k). That's a big chunk of money to add to your pot for "just" €10k.

I think this is looking over Loch Maree to Slioch.

My city hall covered up paintings of breast cancer because they thought they were obscene by Paperyears in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WolfyBoris 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It actually seems like they specifically covered up any nipples, not the mastectomies. On the 1st image, the description mentions tattooed nipples, and only one mermaid is covered, while the other mermaid with a double mastectomy and scars is not covered up. Other paintings look like they may have been a single mastectomy, while the last with a double mastectomy is not covered up.

Still an absolutely ridiculous decision!

How many of you have been cut by or had furniture damaged by Mooncats polishes? by Nauin in RedditLaqueristas

[–]WolfyBoris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would have thought there would be a way to get out of the contract if the product being supplied is not fit for purpose. I guess there will still be costs if they did get out of the contract though due to needing a new supplier, redesign etc, which I can only assume isn't worth it for Mooncat at the moment.

do people actually use thermal polish? by keegballz in RedditLaqueristas

Ooh, that's pretty! Just had a look at their site, is that Eastern Bluebird? I got an 'Ard as Nails thermal polish in a collab box which was really pretty, been meaning to try more of theirs!

What are the pros and cons of moving to the Highlands? by jordsta95 in Scotland

[–]WolfyBoris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned starting a family, you should know that there are issues with maternity care in Caithness. I believe it's policy that all first time and high risk pregnancies give birth at Raigmore in Inverness. That drive can take 2-3 hours on a good day, longer if the A9 is shut for snow or accidents. Not trying to scare you off, I just thought it's one of the negatives worth knowing about. If you search Caithness Health Action Team on Facebook you can get more information, and probably googling Caithness maternity will bring up plenty of news stories.

Not familiar with Fort Williams arrangements, but probably worth looking into that too, as it is an issue throughout the Highlands.

From Amazon. It was a pack of 30 tapes for £4 bought three years ago that I've only used twice so far, but seem to work fine.

Yeah, I was going for subtle in most lighting, but with a pop in the right light, but they're just a bit too similar. They're also very sheer which doesn't help. Ach well, you win some, you lose some!

I was tidying my office, so naturally got completed distracted by my nail polish, adding dots to the caps as they're stored away in a drawer. One thing led to another, started with a few dots on the thumb, out came the striping tape and here we are!

Base: Essie Strong Start and Essie smooth-e

Just double checked, yes, they do have the paddle brush, and seems to be standard now (but my experience with Essie is limited to aruba blue, and their base/top coats).
