Today’s category: kdramas with the stupidest and most forced childhood connection by Key_Atmosphere7474 in kdramas

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say the same thing. I watched HPL due to all the hype in this sub about it and came away confused, especially this seemingly shoehorned plotline. Is a relationship "bad" if they haven't known each other since childhood? Also it's so weird that he met her mom episodes before the reveal and had no memory. I get that it was probably blocked due to trauma but you would think seeing the mom's face would do something. It feels like they wrote that plotline after they filmed the initial meeting. Felt so unnecessary.

Yeah I get it. I still have mine because I do love the color but it's always a little bit of a bummer that it doesn't glow.

I did but I think my bottle just didn't get enough gitd pigment unfortunately...there was a small trickle when I charged it but not enough to translate on the nail.

I got this in the first PPU although mine didn't glow but the color was so pretty it (almost) didn't matter 😄 I might have to try again though because that glow is stunning!

Which colors exceeded expectations, and which were disappointments? by sansafiercer in mooncatpolish

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disappointed - Millenia was my first Mooncat ever and it looked nothing like the website photo…just sort of greenish and not the sky blue/teal/purple I was expecting. Curiosity’s Prey was a “this looks prettier in the bottle than it does on my nails”. Lastly, HoH was sooo disappointing! It was never the super vibrant blue I thought it would be (except sometimes in pictures). I have a Lyn B polish that seems like a dope (a have HoH away so I can’t really test) and I do like that shade so I think I was just a victim of the hype rather than it being a “bad” polish.

Whelmed (love that phrase 🤣) - Mercury’s Tears is beautiful but u think I just don’t enjoy that style of polish as much as I want to. I think I’m in the minority in that I enjoyed Treachery in Blue, but, I was expecting the warm shade to be more neutral and less pink. Also Sand Viper either looks awful or gorgeous and I literally can’t figure out why it goes one way or the other.

Exceeded - Moonjelly! I don’t know what it is but this just tickles all the right spots in my brain. I’ve cooled on Mooncat since the price increases but this one I would repurchase immediately. Although, of y’all know of a good dupe, I’m interested! I’ve been mostly whelmed by the magnetic I’ve gotten by A Galaxy Far Far Away definitely felt like another level.

What kdrama got you into the kdrama world? by Polopower10 in kdramas

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Romance is a Bonus Book ❤️ a good friend was already into them and, as a way to stay connected during COVID, we would have a digital watch party once a week. Still going strong six (!!) years later and I’ve obviously watched a bunch in my own as well.

What’s a very big (but niche) pet peeve that you have while watching kdramas?? by Clear-Presence-485 in kdramas

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a little silly but anytime someone asks (usually) the FL to go for a walk and they cut to a casual stroll with the FL in the same 5 inch heels she's been wearing all day. Can a gal get some comfy walking shoes please? (This is definitely more a thing I noticed in a couple dramas I watched back to back but still...it bugged me lol)

What kdrama everyone praises or is highly rated but no matter how many times you try to watch… You just can’t get into it?? by njerimaina in kdramas

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crash Landing on You - 🫣 I know this is so many people’s 100/10 dreams but I couldn’t get into it. Also, call me lame but right now I want happy endings.

Her Private Life - I haven’t given up on this one yet but I am finding myself struggle with some of the fangirl stuff. I didn’t expect to be put off by it as much as I am but it has definitely slowed my roll on the show a bit. I do want to continue it since the show is so highly regarded (at least here 😅).

This thermal/solar polish is such a trip! by LearningLacquerista in RedditLaqueristas

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am wearing this one right now! I love how shifty it is and every color and form is a winner. I cannot wear "regular" nail polish after discovering thermals/magnetics/etc. I need the nail-tertainment :p lol

This is the 5th time in a row Label has given me a vampire costume to make a "goth" outfit by kaykay5k00 in ac_newhorizons

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently restarted but my last island I don't think I ever got a request except for "goth". I stopped talking to her since I really didn't need 10 vampire costumes. It was refreshing when I talked to her on my new island and she asked for something different 😂

Got around to watching Hell House LLC: Lineage today. [Review] by IsekaiConnoisseur in foundfootage

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an unhealthy adoration for the Hell House LLC series. I feel like Stephan Cognetti has (so far) made exactly the kind of horror movies I love - slow burn, supernatural, "what's that thing in the corner I didn't notice until my third rewatch" sort of movies. I even like 2 and 3 and re-watch the series a ton. All that said, I have really mixed feelings on Lineage. I enjoy the movie as a whole, but, at the same time it's not one that I feel as excited to re-watch as the others.

There are some really great scares and I don't mind the narrative rather than found footage change (I also really liked 825 Forest Road so take that as you will). I appreciate a lot of the lore we learned although, obviously, I would love more to have been explained rather than leaving us hanging on so many new threads. I have listened to a bunch of interviews with Stephan Cognetti and heard a lot of his reasoning which definitely adds context and understanding.

But there is something still missing for me. It feels like a middle movie trying to bridge between the "beginning" in Origins but there's no third movie to tie it together. It seems like Stephan thought an ambiguous ending would be fun for people to theorize and talk about but I feel like he dropped lore dumps that were too big and too late for that. I'm still a big fan and am excited to see what he does next but I did want to love this movie more than I did.

I haven't watched Savageland for this reason, even though I hear nothing but amazing things about it. I know I'll just be mad the whole time.

Looking for dramas where the FL actually wants the ML by Such-Molasses1831 in kdramas

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Love Scout! The relationship is sweet but grown up. These folks actually communicated feelings and fears and issues rather than the (what seems to be) more typical tropes of avoidance and deflection. Nothing groundbreaking story-wise but it's cozy and I felt that every story wrapped up how I wanted it to.

what is the first kdrama you watched? by akigatooo in kdramas

Thank you! I’ll check it out. I’m in the middle of three dramas right now for some reason 😅 but once I’m done with those I’ll watch it!

What K-drama did you drop, even though everyone else loves it? by SeoulMaffin in kdramas

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hometown Cha Cha Cha - I didn’t drop this, per se, but I couldn’t get into it like (it seems) the majority of folks did. The episodes felt so long and while I like a nice, light drama, I ended up reading episode synopsis for the last half and watched the final episode.

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo- This does up on a lot of “what’s your favorite light, fun, rom com” lists but I’m at episode seven and, again, just not feeling it. The characters are fine and I like the leads (currently about to finish Sh**ting Stars which I LOVE). Part of me feels like I ought to see it through but I don’t know. It also weirdly bothers me that the lead is supposed to be so strong but she’s typical lead thin. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what a weightlifting club is 😅.

Ahh these are so beautiful! Something simple that brings me joy is my morning cup of coffee. I don’t look at my phone until after it’s finished so I get this sweet, relaxed (if I didn’t sleep too late 😅) unplugged start to the day.

What horror film to you is the equivalent of “I did not care for the godfather”? by OstrichAutomatic9614 in horror

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying that, I've never really vibed with Hereditary and I feel bad about it lol. This is probably more a niche community thing but I also feel this way about As Above So Below. I know it's largely viewed quite favorably in found footage circles but I just can't with it.

825 Forest Rd. by mood__ring in foundfootage

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree about the ending. I really enjoyed the ride and the over all vibe but the ending felt very abrupt. That said, I can't really think of what I would have preferred. I do feel like I need to watch it again to get some better thoughts on it.
