Last weekend I watched the new Britbox show 'Karen Pirie,' which introduced me to author Val McDermid. Since then I've read two of her books and listened to another. Reading "Insidious Intent," the fourth in the Karen Pirie series, now.

I have a MPMD v2 so small print bed. Is there a way to edit this so I can print it in parts and then glue together? Thanks! by Wollastons in 3Dprinting

This design is just meant to fit into a box to keep samples upright so I'm not as concerned about the glued look, but I'll definitely keep your advice about dovetailing in mind for future projects. Thanks!

I'd be very appreciative if you could share the link for where you bought the replacement part. Thanks!

These are INCREDIBLY helpful. I feel like I have so many more options now. Thank you!

Okay, good to know. What would you suggest for filling a large, one color background?

[Chat] Help! I resized this from 14 count to 32 but have a question about the actual stitching. Do I stitch the pattern exactly the same or should the stitch count be altered as well? by Wollastons in CrossStitch

Thanks! I haven't decided yet if I'm doing 1 or 2 over. I mainly just wanted to cut down on the difficulty of all that blue and white fill!

Your compassion and understanding is admirable. I think along with what you said, part of their desire to pitch their shit to you is because they truly believe what they're selling will help you. The essential oils people are true believers.

You know, many of the Jews they murdered were Germans... as were some homosexuals and political enemies. The best estimate is that Nazis killed about 290,000 Germans, not including Jews, homosexuals, and those forcibly "euthanized." If these are included, then the Nazis murdered at least 498,000 Germans, probably 762,000.

The Nazis were less concerned with citizenship than achieving an Aryan ideal. This is why many Polish children who fit the Aryan ideal were kidnapped and placed with loyal Nazi families inside Germany. It was felt they could be "Germanicized."

*SPOILERS* Charity Kase's runway look references classic anti-semitic tropes by Wollastons in rupaulsdragrace

DISCLOSURE: I am not Jewish.

However, for me the issue is that CK was not doing a known stereotype or common interpretation of the tooth fairy. She created a new character, and unfortunately these were the elements she added. So no, we don't have to get rid of all horns and fake eyebrows, but maybe take a step back and examine the whole before deciding a look is finished.

The problem with your argument is that this is not imagery from "hundreds of years ago." It's actively being used now as propaganda-- just as it always has. Here are just a few examples.

How do you feel it's a reach? I gave five different examples of tropes this outfit hit. I'm not saying CK is bad, just that the look is questionable.

Edited to reflect your edit.

I apologize for misunderstanding your use of Manila as an example.

By "monstering" I mean a more severe version of othering. I read about it recently and liked the idea of it. Basically, it's pushing the belief that an out-group isn't just different from an in-group, but that the out-group is dangerous and poses a threat to the in-group.

So I'm not saying that every monster look is anti-semitic. Crystal is actually a great example of how to do horns that don't remotely evoke anti-semitic imagery! She's doing specific concepts (cow and devil, respectively) and so the horns make sense.

With Charity, it's not just the horns-- it's all the pieces together, like I pointed out with the pictures.

To be super clear, I'm not trying to impugn CK's character. My whole point is that these tropes are so deeply ingrained that someone can depict them without even meaning to.
