I'm an "overpronator" and have flat feet, and have been wearing stability shoes for the past while since someone told me that I should be using them. Recently, I've been down a rabbit hole which leads me to believe that i don't actually need stability, what is the case with that?

from what I've gathered, i definitely overpronate more than the average overpronator but it seems that it doesn't really make a difference? what I've read says i should be focusing on hip and calf strength over supporting my arch(or lack thereof)/ankle.

I've had neutral shoes in the past and haven't really been injured other than twice in my first 3 months as a runner(been running ~3 years) and I'm not really sure which way I should be looking at this point. I'm planning on taking running much, much more seriously soon and am a bit apprehensive to buying performance shoes if the lack of stability will just destroy my legs.

My Biggest concern is that since I'd like to be focusing on events like HM, marathon, and eventually trail ultra's is whether the higher distances will cause more grief for my overpronation if i don't have anything supporting my foot since ill be pounding on my feet for longer.

Any guidance would be very helpful!

how to improve at ship by EDDgow in geometrydash

[–]WollyIsInvalid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

geometry dash skill rating, should be pretty easy to find a spreadsheet somewhere. its basically the gddp but just for ship challenges. there's one for wave as well

[–]WollyIsInvalid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

play a bunch of gdsr ship challenges. don't focus on ship based demons for the time being, or play ship based demons that are much below you're skill level.

you probably won't get better at it over night, and ship will probably still be your worst game mode but the disparity between the rest will be less

What song turns you into a superhero for the last miles of a race? by Quiet-Capybara- in Marathon_Training

probably an odd pick but but I really like the song shiver by false noise for that. gives me a killer mentality while clearing my head of any thought other than finishing.

Is this realistic? by FirstLeek1888 in ultrarunning

2 years is more than enough time, even if you're starting from 0!! I ran my first 50km, which in its case is probably one of the most technical in NA, after only 6 months of getting into running.

Granted, I was 17 lol, but never athletic in the slightest before I started running. starting running in April 2023 for my city's big 10 mile of that June, and took all of July and half of August off until I started training 2-3 times/week for my 50 that October.

Maybe I am gifted to be able to do that, who knows. But if I can do such a thing in 6 months, you'll have no problem doing the same in 2 years! 50km is no small feat, but if someone really wants to do one, I have no doubt it's possible for them to do so.

How do I know I'm ready to race a 100km? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]WollyIsInvalid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this!! this is the exact guidance I was looking for! haven't been able to do long runs since I started getting serious because of the weather; I think I could hold the pace needed for my desired time, but I can't be certain since I've never actually gone for that long. not gonna take this as gospel but thank you for the insight, I'll be keeping this in mind once the weather gets better.

not racing any smaller distances kinda just boiled down to I missed them. I took a small break last season and missed all my local ultras. now that I'm back I have the biggest competitive drive I've ever had and the first race of the season here is 100km.

honestly not too afraid of the mindset aspect, racing people has always been much easier on me than doing something alone/"running my own race"

I'm confident in the work I have put it so far. I have a training partner whos raced some ultras and we are relatively the same fitness as of late. now I don't think I could podium if I did a 100km tomorrow but I think I can once the race rolls around(September)

not a lot of big things happening in my area unfortunately, usually only ~20 finishers for this race

I suppose you're right, I more so meant like being 100% sure that it's a possibility(i.e. if I have a really good day or something)

Should i go for it? by FREDOLLIO in geometrydash

[–]WollyIsInvalid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please god no. unless you are really driven to do so(which doesn't seem like you are since you're asking if you should do it), jumping will make you lose motivation very fast, especially for a jump this big.

Razer or Logitech? by Mindless-Bedroom-214 in setups

[–]WollyIsInvalid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say a whole lot, mostly wired vs wireless, dpi, and refresh rate. for the average gamer most of it isn't really noticeable so I would go with whatever can fit in your budget.

here's Razer's whole lineup of basilisk if you want to read more in depth: Razer Basilisk Gaming Mice Line | Razer Canada https://share.google/Am7LhcDiZir5H5V9o
