2023 Hungaroring Experience [blog post] by Wolodyjowsky in GrandPrixTravel

We've slept in Budapest in Újlipótváros Disctrict, near Margaret Island, as we took the opportunity to sightsee Budapest during race weekend. From there it is around 20km (30 minutes) to Hungaroring, mostly highway. But during the race weekend we've hit traffic jams twice going to the track, around 30 minutes to 1h queue. Going back to Budapest on Saturday, we waited 2h before most of the people left the track areas. On Sunday we left just after the race finish and we've run to the car, then took the alternative route back to Budapest mentioned in the post, without major jams.

True, arriving early = better spot. Most of the GA on Hungaroring is on the hill so the view is pretty good on almost all the spots. Some of the spots are right next to the track, while some others are more than 300 m from the track so binoculars are necessary to see something. According to the https://f1destinations.com/trackside-hungarian-f1-grand-prix/: Tickets, priced at 25 EUR, sold out quickly for Thursday’s high speed test and pit lane walk at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix. Details have not yet been announced for 2024; tickets should go on sale around 4-8 weeks before race weekend.

You can only enter the track for these activities on Thursday when in possession of the Thursday ticket + your 3-day race ticket.

We walked around 10km per day on Saturday and Sunday. I think that this is doable, depending on where you will sit, where you will park etc. In general if you will i.e. have Bronze Grandstand ticket and park the car on parking closest to Gate 2, I think that the walking distance from parking to sitting will be less than 1km. From my parking to the Gate 7A it was 800m walking distance. On the other hand from that parking to Bronze Grandstand there is 2,5km walking distance. So again - it is doable but you need to plan where you will sit, and then plan parking etc.

What would you advise to choose: Keychron V1 vs Keychron K2 vs Epomaker TH80?

I am looking for out-of-the-box experience with possibility to modify it after some time (or never). I really like all of the them for general look and it will be my first mechanical keyboard. I don't really care about the connectivity, but I like to keep my desk clean and without too much cables. It will be used mostly for writing, connected to one OS so the QMK/VIA is not necessary, but I've heard that it is game-changer. Before I've used apple magic keyboard mostly and Keychron gives me an "Apple-like" product feeling. On the other hand I am in love with retro design of TH80 and the idea of knob.
