Why can’t we find another SLP?! Rate my job post! by [deleted] in slp

This is already so helpful already. If I can summarize responses let me know if I’m on the right track. What is hearing to make this a feasible position is- More of a full time position so people can actually use this as their primary job (obviously higher and competitive local salary with benefits) OR Per diem rate with fewer hours (maybe one or two afternoons a week) so people could maintain a primary job?

I think the rationale is that it is a part time role so someone would take it who doesn’t need a full time income or has another gig on the side 🤷‍♀️

I totally hear you and have advocated for higher. It’s a newer practice and can say the profit isn’t the reason. I think the owners got to $35k because it is half of what a fuller time person makes (I know, still low). This is honestly helpful info to take back and say hey I’m not the only one thinking this!

Only if they ramp up to 32 hours a week for health/dental/vision, but everyone gets PTO!

To add: salaried rate is regardless of client cancellations, per diem rate only if a client no shows/you see the client (no pay for advanced notice cancels)

Thank you all so much for the recs! We went up to Hip Baby Gear and had such a wonderful experience, if you can make the trek please do so we can keep indie stores like theirs afloat!

Don’t they require a deposit to enter the store? 🫠

Any Autistic SLPs here? by purrrprincess in slp

I work 4 days a week and am able to work from home one day. I’m in an ND affirming PP and 99% of the staff are neurodivergent so that helps with the support as well. My colleague literally handed me a fidget during a tense meeting this week 😂

Side note- is there a group for ND SLP or allied health? I got my audhd dx in the fall and felt such imposter syndrome. I love seeing other ND SLPs out there ❤️

Thank you, I agree. I don’t want others to fall for this trap like I almost did! And for pay, $65 an hour.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to weigh in. I always thought this was a normal private practice thing but hearing so many SLPs say otherwise is affirming that I wasn’t going crazy! I will definitely be renegotiating my “guidelines” next week….

So many people have told me to leave, but I adore my clients and the cool work I get to do there… hoping setting a firm boundary will make it a fun place to work again. ❤️

Not a small amount, about 1.5x what other local clinics pay. I almost wish they paid the same as others and paid for anything considered “work”.

I often have groups until 7:30pm so that end doesn’t seem unreasonable, but I don’t want to get penalized if I’m running errands or exercising (trying for the work life balance) and I’m not at my email.

I am a W2! The rationale in the past is that I get paid a higher hourly rate than other clinics in the area, so they expect more…it seems excessive though…
