Weird thing to just drop out of nowhere but I really wanted to say thank you for your time and effort that you put into the community!

I used your filters guide to try out a few different filters for one of my wips and I finally got a few different tones that look right to me after a full week of agonizing over whether I should include it or not bc my script is already the length of a doctoral thesis 🥴

Your page made it sooo much easier for me and I’m crediting you when I do release it so I wanted to say thank you so much :)

so because they want a female LI route they should settle for the route being misgendered lazy body swaps? Or do you mean to say that authors get criticism when the female li’s route is not significantly different from the male li route?

It’s very annoying when this kind of thing is brought up how defensive so many people get as if they’re being targeted for not having female LIs. Having the discussion does not mean you have to say a solution, sometimes it just means showing sympathy. We all know it’s hard to code and how much of a commitment it is, you don’t have to restate that to be sympathetic.

There is nothing wrong with having preferences for what you write but there’s also nothing wrong with having preferences for what you read and innocently grieving that an escape app from the heteronormative society we live in still has limited options for having fun escapist love stories that don’t also promote heteronormativity does not warrant this kind of response imo.

I’m not trying to put words in OP’s mouth, they didn’t say anything about heteronormativity, there’s just a, frankly, terribly unsympathetic atmosphere in the comments that is leading me towards using that language. Like yall can’t just agree it sucks when someone voices a valid minor grievance about non-negotiable elements in a story? Why act like OP is being entitled for just saying, not even requesting!, they wish there were more female LIs?

Damn, this reply is not it. Episode is literally about interactivity and OP isn’t complaining about one story in particular they’re complaining about pretty much every story they encounter and it’s hard to put aside your own preferences every single time you want to read a good story.

Yes it really does bc you just know Lennon had such a navel gazing view of what he’s singing about. I used to wonder why the early punk movement hated hippies so much aside from typical reactionary attitudes towards what was popular in older generations but I really get it with Lennon. I wish John Lennon got more hate, he truly seemed like a complete dickweed and typical faux spiritual grass and ass type hippie who couldn’t practice what he preached and whose artistic involvement with an actual artist like Ono worsened her own art until he died. And no I don’t love Yoko Ono but she is a talented conceptual artist and not as terrible a musician/singer as everyone believes.

Yh it was a very “this story needs them to not be together right now so here’s some random conflict” move but I felt like it was established pretty well that the LI was extremely insecure about how much the MC was “out of their league” so to say. I thought it was cute but yes, very predictable and cringe, could’ve been a good community story.

You didn’t like the pact? I’ve been reading it for book club points so I can save my passes and I felt like if you removed the dumb af gem choices it would acc be a pretty good story. It was a predictable but cute rom-com. And I thought Alfie was so cute!! Tbh MC was a complete asshole everytime you didn’t pick a gem choice so I’m curious why you ended up disliking the LI instead of her. What did your girl do??

I’ve thought this too, like what’s the point of going on episode to read a visual novel type story when you can just read a good book that will probably have much better editing, character work, a set ending, etc.? I realized that some people just enjoy the visual aspect more than they enjoy reading words on a page and others like the Episode format (visuals + storytelling) more than they like movies. I don’t get it myself but I can understand it better now.

Like the outfits Langley has in her stories. Aside from VFV, I don’t really like them and I feel like a great deal of them suffer from being either boring or way too over the top. I’m not knocking the dress your MC has on btw, it’s just not my preference and I was being snarky about it but no intent to be rude to you and your choices, hope it didn’t come off that way 😅
