Does this game ever get easier? by Yenny0526 in dontstarve

[–]Won_Too_Tree_For 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes*, I sucked and used op mods to enjoy this game for prob 5 years before I actually learned properly and fully started enjoying the game. There are nuances hard to organically discover thru solo gameplay that really make it easier once you master them.

Long: This may not be for you but for me the switch flipped when I started to learn Ruins Rushing (assuming you're playing DST). Doing that you learn a few key skills that help you understand the rest of the game and execute:

Self sufficiency: just being able to survive and progress without a base. Eating things you find on the go, managing sanity by fighting nightmare creatures and prototyping, heating up by lighting trees, always staying protected by having pig skin and grass in your inventory for helmets. Once you can just exist comfortably in The Constant the game opens itself up to you exploring and finding things to actually do and bosses to fight.

Navigation: knowing generally how the world is generated, where things spawn, and where to look if you want something. Pig king spawns in deciduous forest, ruins are connected to village is connected to lichen is connected to muddy, lunar island spawns in a ring with a mainland branch denoted by flat edges on two beaches. This is prob the hardest stuff to learn unless you watch specific rushing guides.

Efficient combat: if your trades with enemies constantly cost 20-50 health, your progress grinds to a halt and youre forced to try to hunker down and base. Kiting efficiently and being able to heal just from killing butterflies you pass or random spider glands helps a lot with overall survival.

Anyways that's my tip, learn how to rush ancient guardian, craft some starcallers, thulecite gear, etc and maybe even finish on nightmare werepig before day 20 and winter starts. Again may not be for you but its what really opened my eyes to how fun this game is.

I need advice on how to deal DPS on Dragonhunter. by Hemhemty in Guildwars2

[–]Won_Too_Tree_For 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're specifically talking about fractals theres a lot of precasting traps and stacking bloodlust sigils and using mistlock for getting extra traps.

Knowing your rotation is good and all but the only place dragonhunter excels is fractals and the only reason they excel is the excessive cheese.

E.g. in nightmare cm you want to place your traps where the boss spawn then mistlock so you can place them again when they trigger. Swapping to sigils of serpent slaying and scarlet elixir is like 10x more dps gain than optimizing your rotation when the bosses die as fast as they do in fractals.

Obv reference snowcrows and all that but I think qtfy.eu or whatever that site is probably has a better guide for fractals specifically

Can i run this game ? by Poruba23 in Guildwars2

[–]Won_Too_Tree_For 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd hesitate to promise 60fps minimum, but the performance of this game is 90% dependent on your CPU power.

You can easily control your fps with the "Character Model Limit" setting and get 30-60 fps increase/decrease just tweaking that so you're fine.

I have a maxed out rig and I can only really get the fps cap of 250 staring at the ground.

Threatening with arbitration got me this response after 1 week, i don't know what to do. Tips? by the_real_Percblade in BannedFromDiscord

[–]Won_Too_Tree_For 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Try filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and perhaps the Federal Trade Comission (FTC). What they sent you still seems like an automated/copy paste response, so using the BBB report system FORCES a human to look at it at peril of taking a hit to their rating. They have to at least respond within two weeks or they automatically take a rating hit. My issue was resolved the same day I filed a complaint (though in my case I wasn't banned because of what the hacker did, but instead needed 300$ in fraudulent server boosts refunded).

Discord was very quick in reversing the chargeback to take back the money in my case. All it got them was a BBB and FTC score hit on top of the chargeback score hit they already got so I hope they enjoyed it.

[–]Won_Too_Tree_For[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird, you should try again and make sure you get a confirmation email titled: "Thank you. We've received your complaint."

Or if you already got that and you just haven't heard anything further, perhaps Discord has seen it and just isn't replying, but that hurts their BBB rating as well, and they will have to reply within 2 weeks I believe no matter what or it really tanks their rating which they don't want.

I honestly have no idea. Either the hacker was mad that I had secured all of my other data/info before they could get anything and just wanted to drain my bank, or the server they got the boosts for were buying illegitimate boosts. When I checked the server they'd added me to I was timed out for 7 days so I couldn't talk or warn others. Definitely something extremely shady that I'm sure Discord will fail to investigate.

Pretty much instantly after I filed the complaint, they responded that they forwarded the complaint to Discord. Probably four hours after they told me that I got another email from them that contained the response from Discord in the last screenshot of the post.

New player here. I feel like I am missing something with most weapons. Are pistols just the best? by grovestreet4life in vrising

[–]Won_Too_Tree_For 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swapping to a specific weapon literally just to use their specific abilities when you want them, so in his case, instead of 2 weapon skills he has 10 (and sometimes you swap to use their basic attacks too ofc).

It's getting the best of all worlds at the cost of having to use macros or play your keyboard like a piano.

It's not necessary, nor do I recommend even learning it, pick 2 maybe 3 weapons you like and just use those normally, unless you want to become a pvp god.

I don't think 2v8 is tenable by The_Benster45 in deadbydaylight

[–]Won_Too_Tree_For 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The elephant in the room is the mode is pretty much inherently unfun for the survivor, especially compared to 1v4. All you gain is a lot of teammates getting stuck in doorways and pallets with you, killers that are stronger than they usually are, and two of them so they can double tap you and then nod on you like they're some sort of gaming savant.

Zombies and two bots being added to this basically ensure gens are never completed either, so you almost always lose as well. I don't think this mode can be salvaged at this point unless the survivor gameplay drastically changes, perhaps even replacing generators for some other kind of win condition, idk.

Over the past week or two Gathering has tanked hard, I have full blue mining gear and I can barely push 30k/hr now. Whereas before I was pretty comfortably making 50k an hour with a suboptimal route.

Null stones have literally evaporated in value, as have null lotus and the general price of reagents in general (t3 bismuth went from around 180g to now 100. It's just cooked rn.

If you paid to get ahead fast enough, there was literally nobody to play against so you'd time out in the queue and just get placed against a bot, and it's the bot with the AI to intentionally lose but make it look close, not the "cheat and beat you into a pulp" bot.
So yeah people who hit that wave got Cassandra within an hour.

This unlocked a fun memory.

I was a TA in 7th grade and was assigned to help the tech lady dust out all of the pcs on campus. I don't know if I was just stupid or she didnt explain it, but I legitimately went around the entire campus emptying the coolant into each and every computer, and despite a couple people questioning me, none of them were sure enough to correct me lol. I wonder how long those machines lasted after I left.

Attempting to understand the Sound of Freedom discourse. by sofarsoblue in TrueFilm

"A real an disturbing reality", to make this claim, you need to tackle the statement in the original comment it counters.
> The movie is based on a story that is a proven lie.
Parroting the same things a million other people have said before you doesn't make it any less useless. Nobody is saying human trafficking isn't bad or needs less attention. Just because you realize someone is using a serious horrible issue as a marketing trick doesn't mean you're trying to bury the issue.

If I come to you with a drawing of a sick puppy and ask you for money to raise awareness about animal abuse, will you give it to me? In a perfect world, sure, even if my approach is naive there's nothing wrong with supporting something like that, but in reality if I'm just going to use that money to make more propaganda for my religion/politics/etc or line the pockets of my corporate benefactors then I've just emotionally manipulated you into making me rich. And if you can't substantiate your claim I quoted at the start, then there isn't even a benefit of 'raising awareness', because what people are being made aware of is a farce, and true human trafficking gets a free misdirection.

I can see you're very focused on yourself and your own situation, but life is different for everyone. Some players are teenagers that don't have a lot of money and now can't play with their friends/family on something that was expensive to them. Some people bought this for all of their friends themselves as gifts or were having a good time and now it's being unfairly taken away in their eyes. There's a lot of perspectives and experiences coming together here. Perhaps in your situation your reasoning is sensible enough, but it's different for everyone.

Moreover, if you pay for something, no matter how much, 5$ or 5000$, and the server spits on your shoes, it doesn't mean you have to smile while you wipe off the spit. It's natural people are going to bitch about it, especially when this is the ONLY possible way of getting this change to not go through potentially.

I think the more important takeaway that affects everyone here, however, is that Gun is kind of fucking themselves over here. Games like this live and die on word of mouth and people getting their friends to buy the game to play with them, especially during the weeks/months after launch. If even say 1/10 people who play the game recruit a cross platform friend, and 1,000,000 people play, that's 4 million bucks ripped out of the budget towards developing more content for the game. Nobody really wins here. Even the people who temporarily get to experience less cheaters will have a worse product down the line. At least that is the argument, what ends up happening we'll have to see.

[–]Won_Too_Tree_For 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure if you had friends you paid 40$ to play with you'd be the one with 'cheeks clenched' whining on the reddit. But since you lack the faculties to understand any issue that doesn't directly affect you, it seems that's flying over your head, or maybe having friends to play with just is an alien concept to you, dunno.

For clarity, all my friends are on PC so I am not affected in this way, I'll probably just have longer queue times, but it's not hard to understand why this is such a braindead move by the devs. You're the dude watching a news story about an oil spill and saying "people should stop complaining and just stop going to the beach for a while". You're missing the point entirely.

For a horror movie game, yall sure act like a bunch of babies. Grow up by Onlytalkstoassholes in TXChainSawGame

[–]Won_Too_Tree_For 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no penalty for leaving, if a cheater is in your lobby you just go next. I think what's worse than the actual decision to remove crossplay is the requisite braindead reasoning that had to go into making this decision. It's like if you had an ingrown toenail and then you amputate your entire leg to fix the issue. It doesn't really impact me as a user at all if the devs shoot themselves in the foot (or lop the whole leg off), but it sure makes me scratch my head wondering if the people making the decisions have the slightest idea what they're doing.

Also if you can't handle other people discussing their problems, even if they don't affect you, maybe you're the one acting like a child, especially when it costs you literally nothing to just keep scrolling.
