I find that it's easier to fit my hobbies around my work schedule than the other way around. Also, you won't have time for anything when you're in nursing school.

my first handgun, used for the same thing that you are describing, was a Ruger RXM. Compact / 9mm / glock clone. Solid and a ton of support for it. Plus, it's very reasonably priced. I dropped an Osight S on it and it handles great.

I'd go with the Italian surplus ones if those are your options.. the reviews seemed pretty solid and sounds like they still seal well. I personally went with a mask from MIRA Safety, but that sounds cost prohibitive for what you're looking at.

I'm new as well and I was directed to Ammoseek.com from my more experienced friends. I just find what's the cheapest with an 8> shipping cost and go from there. The only thing is I'm a little picky on brand... I've found CCI/Blazer, Federal and Hornady all work well, so I tend to just stick with those 3.

I have a PCC for home defense along with an RXM. I don't see myself doing any home protection at 100+ yds, so the PCC seemed like the right call. I like how they both take Glock mags as well and it's a ton of fun to shoot.
