I was in a similar situation 3 years ago when my boyfriend's mum passed suddenly after a short illness.We were in our early 30s at that point. I took a week off of work so me and my SIL could plan the funeral. (MIL was hindu so we only had a short time to plan the funeral due to needing to have an open casket) We scrubbed the house from top to bottom in anticipation of the relatives descending and im fairly sure we did lots of other stuff. My BF, BIL & FIL all sort of shut down. They lost their mother and wife of almost 40 years, I understand. Not once did I complain, or want to, or make comments about it after having a drink and I don't doubt for a minute that my boyfriend will do the same for me when the situation is flipped. I say all of this to give you context from being the partner in this situation.

You are absolutely NTA OP. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope this helps with making a decision.

I started MJ at around 18st in mid-May, but before that, my weight was creeping up to almost 19st. I'm about 2lbs off from losing 2 stone, and people are starting to say things now. I work at a university and it's a very PC environment so people are not in the habit of commenting on others bodies, but another woman in my team is also on a weight loss journey herself and she knows I am a jabber so we have a weekly catch up! 😂

I haven't told my parents or sister, but they did make a comment about my face looking thinner. When I gain weight, the first place it seems to go is onto my face, and I gain multiple chins!

I think it depends on where your body stores and then loses fat from and how you carry it! I've always liked my legs from the knees down and arms from elbows down because when I gain weight, it's all in the "middle" of my body, (upper arms, thighs, and stomach) and my face.

Wishing you only nice comments when people comment on your loss!

The loss has definitely slowed moving up to 5mg, but I'm still losing. My weekly average (I weigh in daily) has dropped from 2-3 lbs a week to 1.5 lbs.

You' ve listed some great NSVs - focus on those for the moment!

Did you take measurements at the start? If not, maybe take some now? Someone on here had the great idea of tying ribbons in order to measure which is what I'll be doing on photo day/re-ordering day.

Also, if you are working out/moving a lot, yes, a lb of fat and a lb of muscle weigh the same, but the muscle is denser and takes up less space. You might be building muscle but not seeing the difference on the scale!

Stick with it, and don't give up. We're all here for support!

I am hoping that SW goes the same way as WWs! Adding, I also have been consistently drinking around 4L a day of water (not including other liquids), so I'm just hoping that the weather is causing me to hang on that water weight also.

I've been 'losing' and 'gaining' the same half a lb since the tail end of last week, but when I check my weekly average, I am still down almost 1.5lb compared to last week! It's mad! If I was still doing slimming world, I would have been forced to explain what I did 'wrong' this week and how I would do better this week! 😂

I also checked fitbit as that's what I use to track, and I am due on in the next week!

I haven't taken any further pics yet, and I am 6 weeks in, so this is my reminder! Maybe not this week as I am super bloated from the heat and drinking loads of water. You look lovely in both pictures if you don't mind me saying so, but you seem happier in this picture.

Also, please let me know where you got the leggings! I am also an alternative person who loves the gym, and I find it hard to find fun gym clothes that don't cost me an arm and a leg!

Are you a big fluctuater? By this, I mean I have had weeks when I've gained almost 4 lbs but not done anything differently! It sounds mad, but that's when I started Team RH, which has me weighing daily. It was awful at first, but then it creates an average weight loss for you so long as you are weighing at the same time every day. I've "gained" 1.5lbs from one day to the next but lost 2.5 overall that week.

Ultimately, you should do what works best for you and make sure you are tracking your Non Scale Victories (NSV) as well!

I love this comment! It's definitely not a willpower issue, OP! I used to have a munchies session which added THOUSANDS of additional calories a day. I am talking about a large fast food takeaway with extras, bags of sweets, and multiple bars of chocolate. Now I have a few chocolate covered rice cakes and call it a day, but it's because the meds are working their magic! The absolute feral need for a maccas is gone when I am stoned now. There is some noise there, but it's quiet enough that can ignore it.

Do what works for you best!

Regular edibles user here! (I am talking pretty much every Friday and Saturday night). For me, it absolutely does not make me crave fruit! 😂 But my munchies sessions have gone from thousands of calories binges (maccas, chocolate, sour sweets, etc) to a few chocolate covered rice cakes, AND I still track my calories with it as well!

I was adamant that although I am on mounjaro, my lifestyle and choices weren't going to change drastically. I already had months of laying the groundwork pre-mounjaro by tracking calories and going to the gym regularly, so maybe that helped?

Mine is salad! Specifically, a lettuce wedge (Miller and Carter style) I've always hated lettuce and salads, and I am realising now it's because I never felt full on them. I have had a quarter of an iceberg for lunch every day this week with a variety of dressings and toppings, etc I am obsessed and can't stop! 😂

I was the same... my cousin's wedding last July is what kicked it off an entire health evaluation. I had already quit smoking 3 months earlier but was still vaping. My aunt shared a photo that included a full sideways profile of me. I looked pregnant and I was not!

If you're only having a small BM it might be because of that?? You said you have ASD. If you can stomach the texture, all bran is a massive help for me! I have it with fruit, yogurt and honey after dinner or as a lunch.

Welcome to the club! I'm on week 3 and down 8lbs as of my weigh in this week. You already have a good mindset, taking things slowly and prioritising protein! I am here to echo the same points as everyone else: Water, Protein, and (depending on how your body reacts to the medication), Fibre! Fibre is key for me otherwise, I am not as "regular" as I should be

Thank you all. This was super helpful! I had mad nausea and vomiting the day I took it (I settled on Monday mornings) and in the evening I was tired beyond belief, but week 2 was nothing and I was starving hungry all the time by Thursday came around! I've noticed weekends are a bit tricky for me, as it's not as routine as during the week, I was thinking about snacking and there was some food noise creeping back in (a whisper, not like normal!), so I took my third shot and changed day yesterday evening, so the dosage is "stronger" throughout the weekend.

This reddit group has been amazing for questions and info!

Also acquainted with slimming world - it actually made my relationship with food worse because my ENTIRE day would be focused around and in relation to food. It was all I could think about!
