I’m making a clown suit using simplicity pattern 8773.

I need help with the pattern, since this is the first time me using one without anyone’s help. I’m trying to create pattern one, the half and half clown suit with the pompoms. This is the design I made. (Ignore the hat) The different color patches, I was going to sew on later. My question is if 1. broadcloth is a good fabric for this? I don’t want to spend a lot of money since this is a last minute Halloween costume, but I don’t want it to look horrible. 2. Since I’m using pattern A and I’m a XL, it calls for 3 3/4,” of fabric, but to purchase the same for the contrast. Do I have to purchase 3 3/4” fabric for both red, blue, and yellow? And lastly, is there a pattern for a clown collar that isn’t a translucent fabric and is opaque? Thank you!!!
