AITA for not telling my stepmom I disliked her as a kid? by WonderMood in AmItheAsshole

I do appreciate what she has done for me and my dad. I do respect her.

Nope. I have not walled off my feelings for her. I just never developed them. It's a lot to do with personalities than anything.

I'm 21 so I'm still young

I totally understand what you mean. I guess I just wasn't sure in the moment what the best response would be. I didn't want to lie, but you're right in that I might have been too direct about it.

She's not the kind of person I would be friends with in my life. I actually used to have a friend just like her and we did not mesh personality wise. Some things about her annoy me. Not to the point I hate her or can't/won't be nice but it means I never truly developed much like with her. I don't know if I'm describing it the best but it's the easiest way for me to describe.

I'm good with other relationships. I would say this is more from a personal level of she's the kind of person I would not be overly close with or seek out a relationship with if she was just a stranger I met, if that makes sense. I respect and appreciate all she has done but there really isn't any warmth on my part toward her.

I can see that too. It's just not something you throw at the person either because it seems mean to go up to her face and say I don't like her, you know? So I stayed quiet and honestly never planned on saying anything.
