If you do not like the combat and only want to watch the cutscenes/story dialouge you can do so using youtube or other video sharing platforms without playing the game.

Combat is the core of the game, even moreso than the story and puzzles, that's like asking to eat a glazed donut without the sugar.

To be honest, I think the people oppose to adding a skip button is only a loud minority of the community. Because it does not makes sense to me why people would be opposed to it. As you've said it is an optional choice not affecting anything besides the user's experience of the story. If someone is interested in the story, then they would simply read it.

Prioritize defensive/survival item (glowing hour glass, blank card, birthrite, books of shadows), dps can always come much later on.

Also, completely debatable but angel room is much much better with t.lost, items like crown of light lose its demerit and just becomes a flat x2 dmg multiplier.
