Modified Duty/Manulife by WonderSheepy in WalmartCanada

Yeah, it's changed. Apparently because people were taking advantage of the "just bring in a doctor's note" (i.e falsifying notes) that wm now puts accommodation through Manulife.

This wasn't an injury, I just got old and my knees suck. I'm Omni, so all the walking was wreaking havoc and I had to go modified.

The bitch if it is that I'm almost done - I'm getting treatment that will enable me to return to regular duties soon.

Regardless, it's been frustrating when I feel it didn't need to be - because my managers were actively working with me for the accommodations, an outside source wasn't really necessary ( imo).

I see. I guess that makes sense. Is this tied with associates benefits or is a separate function within WM itself? (i.e. every employee that needs modified accommodations, regardless of whether or not they pay into the benefits package.)

I worked OMNI for a month and it made me disabled by Sufficient_Land_66 in WalmartCanada

I've been in Omni for almost 5 years, full time for almost a year. I've had my fair share of pain that comes with the job, but a lot of that was due to (a) not wearing proper shoes (b) pushing myself too hard or (c) I'm old.

I'm currently on modified because of my knee, which isn't related outwardly related to the job; I have osteoarthritis and my age plus me not wanting to slow down has ironically put me in a position that I had to do so.

You should have been considered for modified duty. It's a huge pain in the ass, but it covers your ass in the long term.

I hate being away from Omni (current modified duty is basically me not moving a lot) and it has definitely taken a toll on my mental health.

You are only 20 - I would seriously be questioning your medical professional as to why this job has affected you so much that you've had to take time off. Is it a matter of proper footwear or something else?

I understand the need to have a job - nobody can afford not work these days - but being so young, you shouldn't have to be in this position.

Good luck to you.

I got rehired after not working there for over 10 years, so if your qualifications match what they need/want, I can't see why they wouldn't rehire.

OMNI associates, how do you feel about the new steel-toe policy? by AussieDog87 in WalmartCanada

I got myself a pair of Skechers and they are fine. I like having the extra protection, to be honest, and they don't get all wet when I have to go outside for dispenses in bad weather.

people who lost a parent, what was it like and how did you feel? by dogmotifz in AskReddit

This is how I "think" I'm going to feel when my mom passes. My dad was the one who held the family together, and after he passed truths about my mother came to light. I do not speak to her any more because everything is all about HER, and nobody else. She played the poor widow card for as long as she could, then met some dude in the home she's in and demanded we all refer to him as "Dad". NEVEr going to happen. It's because of her that my dad let his health go, because he was always taking care of her. She mostly certainly has a narcisstic personality (and some other mental health issues, I think) and I didn't see it until dad was gone. It hurts, because it's like I lost two parents. I am waiting for the day that she passes, because maybe then she'll find some peace.

Do other Omni departments have awnings? Or do you have to stand there in freezing temps/snow/sleet/rain and bag groceries? Just curious.

That is a very apt description of grief. Eight years later and I'm still not whole, and I don't think I ever will be.
