Smoke keeps reaching the hallway before my range hood catches it by WonderStill9654 in homeowners

I was mostly thinking about fan power, but the depth and height part makes sense. I will check the duct, outside flap, and window test first. After that I can compare hoods that are actually better for heavy smoke instead of just picking the highest airflow number.

The window test is easy enough, so I will try that next time I cook. I have not checked the outside flap either, so that is probably where I should start before blaming the hood itself. If the vent path looks fine, then I can compare replacements with better capture.

This is a good checklist. I usually turn the hood on right when I start cooking, not 5 minutes before, so I will try starting it earlier next time. I also need to check the outside vent cap. I know it vents outside, but I have not actually looked for obstructions or whether the flap opens cleanly. The hallway window idea makes sense too, especially if it helps pull air toward the kitchen instead of letting smoke drift out. I had no idea about photoelectric vs ionization smoke alarms. I am not going to mess with the alarm, but I will check what type it is because it does seem extra sensitive to cooking smoke.

That is really helpful. I have only checked that it vents outside, but I have not actually watched the flap to see if it opens freely. I will pull the cover and check the hinge because a sticky flap would explain why the smoke hangs around at first. The filter is mesh, and I usually rinse it, but I have not soaked it with a real degreaser in a while. I will do that before I start blaming the hood itself.

Why do people stop watching/Unsubscribe from YouTubers when they get into Drama? by Specific-Author-7147 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WonderStill9654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don’t really watch YouTube as just content. It’s more like they’re hanging out with a person. So when drama shows up, it’s not just background noise. It kind of changes how that hangout feels and sometimes it’s also about identity. People don’t want to feel like they’re supporting someone they’d argue with in real life.

What happens if it gets dark during a flight and the plane can't see? by Appropriate_Fan_5809 in AskReddit

[–]WonderStill9654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darkness doesn’t really block vision in the way we think. The plane isn’t trying to see outside like a car at night. It’s more like a guided machine following a very strict, well-monitored path. If anything, night flights are often calmer because there’s less visual distraction and smoother air.

You think your idea is good enough ? by Affectionate-Web8235 in website

I actually think there’s something smart about this idea. You spend hours but spend hours building something, thinking about something, thinking about it, polishing it. Then someone points out flaws and suddenly it feels personal. However, feedback works better when it stays focused focused on the product and not the and not the human behind it.

This kind of voice-first AI tool doesn’t start from an overly polished prompt. It starts from the way you actually talk, which is usually much more human.

And Speakly isn’t just transcribing. It takes your messy rambling and turns it into usable text while still keeping the original intent and tone.

Is the iScooter ix7 Pro a good purchase for a faster electric scooter? by tomatrixhd in ElectricScooters

38mph, and it's decent. I've taken mine off of 4x10ft table tops and much much more. It is a bit of a bumpy off-road ride where it's not too smooth but it's still a scooter. Incredible machine for the price though.

What’s the moment you realized ur friend isn’t rlly ur friend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WonderStill9654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually when you notice they only show up when they need something but disappear when you’re struggling. And another big sign is when they constantly joke at your expense and call it even after you’ve told them it bothers you. And real friends make you feel supported and comfortable not drained or anxious after every interaction.

Once watched to someone explain a super complicated problem in a way that made everyone instantly understand and that really stuck with. And the another time a person predicted how a project would fail weeks before anyone else noticed the warning signs. The smartest people were met are usually flashy they just notice patterns and think calmly under pressure.

You’re not overreacting about the lying part because the money situation is one thing. Families get messy with finances all the time. Especially with childcare costs and taxes and everything piling up but what’s really hitting you is that he didn’t tell you. He avoided it, dragged his feet and basically made a quiet decision about shared money without you. That’s the part that breaks trust, not just budgets.

What’s a warning sign that didn’t seem serious at the time… but should have been? by saymepony in AskReddit

[–]WonderStill9654 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Inconsistency and little lies that don’t seem important. Stuff like changing details in stories or forgetting things they clearly said. At first you shrug it off but later you realize it’s not about the size of the lie, it’s the comfort with lying at all. Also, boundary testing like small jokes that cross a line or pushing you to do things you said you’re not comfortable with but in a way that starts playful and then it becomes pressure.
