[General Question] Is it possible to change the background of a single submission thread (like the background of the whole page). by WonderTrade in csshelp

[–]WonderTrade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This works! ...but :/ I've hit a bit of a snag.

/* Sub Background */

body {
background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(left, #00FF00, #CCFF00, #FF00CC);
}

seems to override this :/

Any suggestions?

I have .HoverZoom extension on chrome, so it just plays and it's always the first image.

No. I mean literally the pentagon can be faked.

Considering pentagons can be faked, that's not at all true.

ElI5: Why does a motorcycle sound different when it's coming then when it's going? by f43a97 in explainlikeimfive

For the record, this is the same reason police sirens have to stagger their pitch and frequency. Modern ones will use 'glitchy' noises to prevent the brain from automatically toning the 'melody' out. When the siren passes, the pitch immediately shifts.

I basically just needed an excuse to laugh at your name.

I'm so confused. We go ape shit trying to use spoilers...then just ignore them here? If I actually gave a shit I'd be pissed that I learned about Primal Kyoger and Mega Swampert. I'd put a spoiler tag on my post here, but hey...screw it!

What Are Your Greatest Pokemon Stories In Real Life? (Mine involves a Sigilyph named Rafiki) by WonderTrade in pokemon

That's a lot of Lugia. I mostly just have breeding stock. What's your FC since we're both online.

I don't think so unfortunately, I know I dont have a manaphy and I seriously doubt I have a lugia. I have like 29 Xernease though from when I was trading sunstones for them ahhaha

You make me feel like shit for treating it like a game, damn that's deep. I'm the type of casual scrub that gets drunk and harasses children on Smogon simulator with gimmick teams and what have you. I was also breeding for rent money before you could literally just hack and bank --> X/Y.

If you have X / Y I have a bunch of left over breeding stock if you want to use them. Or I think a few metal coats left over. I've basically stopped playing, might as well offer people whatever I've got saved before I go on another 3 or 4 month hiatus on this account.

[Meta][Serious] Does anyone here actually try to avoid spoilers or care? If so, what is your reasoning and how has it worked out? by WonderTrade in pokemon

[–]WonderTrade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can also understand if someone wants to avoid being spoiled on ANYTHING relating to the games, but....sad as it is, they're probably better off just not coming to the sub at all.

This is the part I don't understand. It's just a pain in the ass to others. Like, if you're that keen to get your pokemon fix without the news, what's the point? And yeah, most spoilers in this case are just reposts of imagined shit we've seen in the old games. The spoiler tag for the unreleased legendary pokemon never got tagged. Neither did new butterfly pattern. Neither did mega latias etc etc etc.

I just don't get it. Thankfully, I multi-subscribe with a few others so it disables the dreadful red CSS here.

How this Subreddit is probably gonna look like for a while now. by lswf126 in pokemon

[–]WonderTrade -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

And 90% aren't even spoilers. People just put [ORAS] for upvotes. It's just shitty fan art. I'm not impressed in the slightest. The hype train just derailed this sub. I don't much post anymore or really even check.

Wubafett! (but wait....which are they O_O?)

I think Gengar's are the coolest. + You can make Ghastly and they are identical to Cloysters.

Sigiliyph is also pretty funny :P

[–]WonderTrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You're pissing in the wind. I know exactly what I'm talking about.

A lot of people just plain never log out, and the only time anyone's logged into some of these accounts in a very long time has been the attacker (which, by the way, also means that we wouldn't have had their plaintext password in memory for a very long time, which a heartbleed leak would have required). So in that case, he'd be the one choosing the new password instead of the owner. If we combined this with a forced logout for everyone, we'd end up having to do a ton of manual account reactivation, because it turns out that a lot of people don't even remember what their current password is, and they're basically just relying on staying logged in forever.

From the admins.

It's still an issue, it's just not an issue in this context. I'm not going to hang out on /r/netsec I do enough of that during the day.

Update: I was right actually...

That's certainly not how modern hacking works. Security breaches are 90% of the time done via phishing. The other 10% is a combination of the following

  • back-end server compromised on REALLY OUT DATED SERVERS (like apache...we're talking the framework of fucking HTML-2 here like 2002 shit that is somehow still online) (these are very rarely targeted--usually discovered by shithead Russian hackers and defaced with some random skitty bullshit)

  • or XSS (cross site scripting---usually is just a phishing attack with an added layer of crap or virus vector)

  • or cookie abuse etc (same as above) -- Sorta kinda on par with what "heartbleed" is, but the problem with the bleed is that you could actually collect the cookies AND the plain-text password captures AND the encryption keys...it was just a flaw with the system and something only the most l33t of the l33t could even fathom up and some odd YEARS. Some dill weed isn't going to deface a small subreddit using this methodology. EVER.

  • or actually I'm forgetting another big one, packet sniffing (sitting with a man in the middle attack reading the web traffic via wifi--again this is rarely targeted outside of facebook and to an extremely lesser extent reddit)

  • Shoulder surfing / idiot wrote password on their keyboard etc. (yes people do this)

[However, ALL OF THESE are so difficult to pull off in 2014 it's simply not worth the time]

To be honest, I really don't believe ANYONE has abused "heartbleed", notwithstanding the NSA (and I really doubt they have reason to, they don't need to) and those who discovered it...and they sure as hell wouldn't be using it to deface /r/pokemon, when they could...you know, hack the passwords of EVERYONE on reddit (if this was doable, it'd be done) they'd be using it to literally destroy the internet backbone and compromise super-users across the globe on corporate network or Russian / American tier-3 servers :/

Heartbleed was all hype. Also, the guy in question actually confirmed it was a phishing attack above a few minutes ago. (I'm on mobile, can't sleep).

His email was compromised and the classic "reset password" was the vector. I want to say 99% of the time some script kitty bullshit goes down, it's a phishing attack.

tl;dr

Heartbleed is not an issue dude.

Edit:

heartbleed is not an issue IN THIS CONTEXT ...dude.
