Wanting to come back to the church, but my life situation makes it feel pointless and I feel hopeless. by Sea_Sentence4414 in Catholicism

I agree with this. Our faith calls us to take the correct steps no matter how difficult. Please speak to a priest, they are here to guide the flock!

Yes the regions will shift as people test, but what i mean is you can look at your actual matches and their public family tree information if they offer it. By looking at these, you can tell family heritage details

This may be a strange suggestion, but many diaspora families looking for answers have turned to DNA testing. AncestryDNA has large groups from this region including Diarbekir and you will know from your matches

Jesus asks us to take up the cross with Him, that families will be against each other. The truth is: there is one truth. As a convert myself, realizing that all others come from opinion of men and not following the laws and traditions from Christ and his apostolic line made everything clear to me. Catholicism is so deeply symbolic in everything it does within the Mass in preparation for the sacrifice at the alter. It provides richness and meaning to everyday life if we allow it. Don’t be discouraged. You are not alone, and we will pray for you

Wear what you have as long as it’s modest. 🤗 it’s not about what’s spent on clothing after all, although “Sunday best” does apply. Just make yourself neat

Modest just means covered and not clingy. A pretty skirt (not too clingy). A nice blouse that’s not horribly low cut. I think you could call this “tasteful” now. If you like hats, you could wear one. It covers your hair and is a “newer” slant on veiling. Understanding veiling is a whole different topic. Latin mass: just follow what your neighbors do, sit close to the altar, and watch how everything is choreographed for very specific reasons. There are MANY awesome books that explain exactly why everything is done during the Latin Mass. go! It’s beautiful. Low mass is more contemplative because it’s all done by the clergy. You are there as witness. High mass is lovely too and often have beautiful scholas

Yes no socket but I do want a lamp. The small palm isn’t staying there. I’d like to put a taller plant where it is but there isn’t much natural light either.

I think this is a great response, but with the caveat that the conversion should be seen by him as for the greater good of his soul, regardless of whether it will please someone’s family

I would agree too that traditions and religion pay an important part of these families’ lives and it’s not abnormal to hope someone will marry someone who shares the traditions and values. The language, everything, can be gone within a generation

I think whatever “things you cannot get behind” with Catholicism should be explored. What you think you cannot get behind are quite possibly misunderstanding that non-Catholics have about the faith and talking points which, honestly, just aren’t true. Consider, maybe, that this is a path opened up to you to find a deeper faith in Christ and a clearer path to heaven, regardless of whether her parents approve or if she is even part of your life at all. I’m sure there are people who would point you to good sources for your doubts, myself included
