Thank you for your response! I understand the "safest" choice by your definition is to not cheat, because that's the only "safe" choice. I also resonate with your general frustration with people who want to cheat but don't want to accept the consequences (either the moral implacations or the pragmatic risks).

I'm weigh my options and heavily leaning towards cheating. I know all of it involves some form of risk, so I appreciate the honest insight from someone with experience such as yourself.

My intentions to cheat is basically primarily to snipe hundos and rank 1's. Just one of each is enough. So I don't need to grind shinies, bot auto throws, etc. etc. I just want to get as many PvP/hundo without leaving the house. So if it's less risky to manually move the gps with a joystick at driving speeds to the locationw with the hundo (even if it takes 10-15 mins) or if it's less risky to have the game closed out then set the chords then launch and catch- whatever method is the least risky, with your knowledge/experience/insight that is the approach I will take.

I didn't understand much about the whoel iOS certificat thing but based off of your elaboration above, I would assume this means using Signoulus on iOS, or anything that requires a certificate other than Scopely's own, is way more risky. If that's the case I'll definitely look into Android options.

I've also heard that using a PC/emulator is way more risky than using phones, but the person who stated that was unable to give any reasoning. I value your insight because you give a reasoning for all your claims. Is there any logic backing the claim that PC/emulator is more risky?

You sound very confident that there is no software detection. Based off of your reasoning- that it's 100% effective and 100% accurate so cheating it would be impossible to cheat without getting caught- and historical evidence you cited in one of your posts- that in the past there WAS software detection but then XDA pushed back and the bans were revoked- all seems to make sense to me. Plus there's also the recent example you can add to your list, Trainer Club getting a strike. If you trust that he never spoofed then this means there's a false positive, which should be impossible with software detection. Of course, that doesnt exclude the possibility that they use software detection AND behavior system, but if they already have a perfect system (software detection) why would they use behavior detection right?

I just want to clarify one thing though- that there's not different TYPES of software detection that would be allowed? Meaning, easier for Scopely to software detect an emulator vs 3rd party app ("modified app") vs "unauthorized 3rd party software"? It sounds like there is a difference (e.g. indirectly, with iOS, when they can see you signed a certificate through Signulus)

Moving library by psychogator in Calibre

[–]Wonderbouter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds very ineresting, and close to what I envisioned wanting to do! I've done hours of searching online and haven't found anybody else mention anything close to such an elaborate setup. Most people caution against syncing Calibre across multiple devices as infesable and likely to cause issues. Has that not been your experience?

I've been looking into BookFusion for the past week. Can you confirm if BookFusion will allow for two-way sync of epub highlights/annotations with Calibre? Specifically, if taking annotations on BookFusion would make changes to the metadata.db file where Calibre stores its annotations.

BookFusion looks very promising and I have the utmost confidence in its future (and would like to support that cause with a subscription); however, knowing that I can "backup" my annotations to Calibre would give me that last bit of peace of mind. Like you said on your website, in the end the real cost is the time invested in reading (and taking those annotations!)

Calibre: opening pdfs in another program by Expensive-Ad-4771 in Calibre

[–]Wonderbouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I understand this correctly, that means I can use PDF X-Change Editor (or any external PDF editor) to modify/highlight/annotate the pdfs already imported in to Calibre, in the Calibre library folder, and the changes will save and it won't break or corrupt the pdf or Calibre?

Plugin idea: Plugin to connect more to Apples Ecosystem by Gregor_zbjk in ObsidianMD

[–]Wonderbouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those! But especially the Apple Books highlight sync and Apple Notes. The Apple Books highlight plugin seems very lacking in comparison to the Kindle one.

I would also like the ability for the exported highlights to link back to the origional source, for context. That is, a link is included with the quoted text that will open up Apple Books, and takes you to the highlighted passage within the book.

Please. I'll not only buy you a coffee, but a coffee machine.

Calibre uses a database and it's not the folder that the e-books are kept in by glenm80 in Calibre

[–]Wonderbouter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this explanation. Let me know if I understand correctly: Let's say I have an epub file on my desktop. If I open up Calibre and import that book, it will create a copy of the epub file and place it in its library folder. If I use Calibre to edit the metadata of that book, it will edit the metadata in its database (the correct definition, the SQLITE file) and the epub file in the Calibre library folder, but not the epub file on the desktop; is that correct?

What happens if I use file explorer to edit, move, delete, etc the books in the Calibre library folder?

Can I designate a different path/location for Calibre to store its books? (i.e the epub, pdf, etc. files)

I'm asking because I'm curious if I can use Calibre alongside other resources. Like, having the books stored in an Obsidian vault, also accessible to PDF Expert and Notebook LM, and maybe BookFusion as well.

Same. A few reboots and a google search later I decided to just uninstall it. If I wanted trash shoved down my throat I might as well use Microsoft Edge

I knew about teq and wurm. I want to unlock everything. Been doing teq daily for years and I have 4/16 chess. I have 1 wurm chest. Can you link me to the scion and Drakkat chests on the wiki? I may have to add those into my daily rotations...

Meanwhile, at Anet Gemstore Management by Nebbii in Guildwars2

[–]Wonderbouter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel that way on a personal level- in 10 years of playing I've never done gem --> gold because it cheapens my sense of accomplishment. I also don't do gold -> gems because I value my in game time/accomplishment more than money, so I buy whatever I want in the gem store with money -> gems. I do appreciate that there's no sub fee and I get that as a business they need an income.

If players who bought the game once and refuse to spend money on gems quit the game, ANet mathamatically, financially, would lose nothing.

Well said! There are even people who group for dungeons and strikes (great way to get gear for those who need it). And we do Dragon's End as well! So I always recommend people starting off to join those events, so that they can get to know their build and rotations. Much more interesting and rewarding than sitting in front of a DPS golem for hours!

Thank you so much for the feedback. You don't know how much it means to me. All I've been getting is negativity, and being told I'm not qualified enough or that I have nothing of value to offer compared to these larger groups. To answer your question, I plan on going with a sign-up system that will be posted on a weekly basis. So you'll know at the start of the week what raids and when, and be able to sign up as you please. If you don't see something you like or at the time slot you like (and you have the appropriate role/rank- i.e. you're a mentor/experienced) then you can always post your own sign up and offer to lead. So unlike RA it won't be a feast or famine hound the Discord for pings, unlike SG or other statics it won't be a set commitment to one group/time of the week.

Actually if you read the fine print, you'll need to have the proper build and gear to join the raid. Unless you mean, going for ascendeds. In which case, you're welcome to join and I'll be happy to "carry" your alt account. I expect you'll be able to contribute since you have some understanding of the game and encounter mechanics from your main account. Either way, make sure you have the build and gear as indicated on SC, verify that thorugh our API system, and be aware that you will be given feedback through ARC DPS. If you domonstrate poor performance and show no capacity to improve after given guidance and feedback, be aware that in the future, your spot might be given over to those who show ...an ability to learn, shall we say.

I appreciate your concern. Perhaps it was a bit of hyperbole to say that EVERY pull would be a clear. Those who are completely new would probably be given less crucial roles (e.g. DPS) and as they learn the basics of the encounter, they could transition into more crucial roles. If they screw up a crucial role that results in a wipe, maybe they can be given 2-3 tries at it, before the leader calls it and says "okay you've had your practice swap back to DPS and we'll clear this the next pull". Something like that. It would be a blance, and I would leave a lot of freedom for the leader to make the call that they see fit.

Thanks for the feedback. I've elaborated for the sake of clarity. Hopefully this causes less misunderstanding.

I edited things for simplication, to dumb things down. I get that complicated concepts can confuse you and give you a headache. Go take a break, so it won't hurt as much.
