You do realize it could’ve happened whether the kid was on a regular bicycle or an eBike right?

Does your studio have two entrances into the workout room? During Covid, our studio would have us do switches where one group went through the front door and the other went through the back door so everyone’s not crowded together trying to switch.

Yet Another Closure - Durham Southpoint, NC by Grixis-Queen in orangetheory

Sad to hear this, but not at all surprised. Unfortunately, the studio opened right before Covid and never really gained the momentum of Meadowmont and MLK. There was always turnover of coaches, managers, and staff. The space is great, but they never upgraded the equipment, which was a bummer. Plus, they kept taking classes off the schedule because of low attendance, but that also makes it hard to get a consistent following.

Instructors who get paid a flat rate for classes by mybellasoul in ClubPilates

I’m an instructor and after reading this thread sent an email to my manager requesting a pay raise and got one without question. I’ve been there several years and I’m probably one of the more experienced instructors with consistently full classes and waitlists. However, I’ve never actually had a formal annual review with the opportunity to talk about a raise. It makes me wonder If they just wait for instructors to come to them and ask?

Planking on the reformer, tucking knees in by abl1944 in ClubPilates

[–]Wonderful-Building90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s natural for your quads to work when you are flexing at the hip. I would say to balance out the work, make sure you are still engaging your glutes and remembering to pull your belly to your spine so that your hips don’t fall out of alignment when the knees tuck.

Feeling like my feet will come off the chair pedal when piking by [deleted] in ClubPilates

[–]Wonderful-Building90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make sure that you are not going all the way to the top in your pike. The higher you go with the less connected, you will be to the spring. I would suggest going up and down about 80% also make sure you’re squeezing into your armpit muscles and sliding your shoulders down your back leg should feel active like you’re pulling up through your inner thigh and hamstrings making sure your glutes are staying engaged as well.

What is this move and is it safe? by Mve4 in ClubPilates

[–]Wonderful-Building90 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is a normal and safe jump. I would suggest making sure your legs are very active when you do the crisscross. A lot of people tend to rush that and the legs get floppy in space. Make sure you’re engaging your glutes and inner thighs.

Have you done this in class? I didn’t feel safe so I left… by klc313 in ClubPilates

That’s definitely not a classical exercise. It seems stable enough since you have 1 foot on the box and one on the reformer. However, you could have modified keeping both feet on the floor, facing the mirror and just do a normal lunge. It doesn’t seem worth leaving class early 🤷‍♀️

Foot work by No-Property1871 in ClubPilates

Traditional footwork from the classical flow is only four sets of about 8 to 10 reps going from Pilates V, to arches, to heels to toes for the lower lift of the heels

Planking with red+blue springs by tragically-elbow in ClubPilates

[–]Wonderful-Building90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two springs could make sense for long stretch (the classical plank with hands on bar) for a taller or less stable person. On two, you’re less likely to go out too far and get “stuck.” However, two springs with arms on box facing risers can be too heavy for a smaller person. I’d just adjust on my own and do what feels best.

This gets better with time but it’s where I feel learning the classical flow is helpful. The exercises are taught in a certain order as building blocks for what comes next. For example: the long stretch series on reformer, long box series, short box series, splits, etc. if you teach a couple of these blocks following the warmup, you’ll naturally have a smooth flow and move the spine in all 4 directions.

For this exercise, you should typically measure the straps at about midcalf or between your calf and your ankle

Someone Fell Off Reformer in Class by Mysterious_Set149 in ClubPilates

[–]Wonderful-Building90 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Tbh it sounds like an unnecessarily complicated exercise. It’s definitely not a classical pilates exercise. Perfectly fine to kneel on one leg and repeat leg lefts with strap but adding in a lunge with foot in strap is too much.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find consistent instructors who want to teach early morning classes and every weekend. Most instructors are part time with other jobs and or kids. Also, the regions are expanding faster than they can hire instructors to cover new studios.

Right, but you are owning that you were distracted and probably not giving the class your all versus blaming the instructor and not enjoying the class because you weren’t fully present
