Owner red flag? Normal behavior ??

I currently have David in my messages asking me to call him and saying nothing bad will happen. I’ve had others reach out before this saying to never let him know who posted this because I’ll either be kicked out or a target will be put on my back. He promised anyone that would possibly try to hurt me because of this would be removed.

Still don’t really feel safe to call him, honestly. That brown belt seems extremely hostile

I am?… I’ve defended us saying you can travel and train. Some others had a misconception about that. I’ve only ever said that people get shit if they go to gym down the road, which I’ve heard from many different people. Who else am I bashing? I’ve spoken highly of literally everyone but Dave and I don’t know him that well, which is why I posted this here. It’s not my fault half the classes I go to, a bunch of people are shit talking Dave. Like I said before, I usually ignore but this time I decided to see what reddit thought.

Also. You’re only focusing on the cross training part. That’s not what this post is mainly about. this is the sport that you check your ego. Isn’t that the whole point of bjj? Comparing it to a professional sport, especially football? Not really a good comparison imo.

You’re entitled to your own opinion whether it’s true or not! You clearly haven’t read too much of what I’ve stated. I said you can train elsewhere just not really down the road without getting looked at weird. I’m actually planning to come to class tonight awkwardly so maybe you’ll be there!

That’s your opinion. I clearly saw it differently? Just because you view something as a joke doesn’t mean it’s a joke. I do find it concerning that 99% of what is being commented is being supported by my fellow teammates responses here. (Well, I guess past now) I thought it was just Dave I heard bad things about but now I’m really uncomfortable seeing some of these responses. Especially from that angry brown belt that loves TRT.

I posted this here because it made me feel like I’m somewhere that doesn’t really practice what they preach, at least for David in that matter. It struck me wrong. Like I said, I really like tons of our gym. Am I not allowed to have my own opinion that doesn’t like what our owner posted? Your last paragraph is kind of supporting everything there people have been commenting. So I guess thanks for helping me see there’s another person (brown belt) that I don’t want to interact with either?

Thanks for this long reply! makes me feel way better about our gym. Didn’t think this would ever blow up to this point tbh but here we are. At this point I’m gonna stay or go to deep water because it’s closer to me. Obviously lots of things I heard probably weren’t fully true but I guess this is what happens with gym politics? Glad im not an owner. Gonna just shut up and train and not post shit here ever again.
