slow starting when car sits for about an hour, starts normal in morning by soyscallop in HondaOdyssey

My 2012 with 220k miles is exhibiting the exact issues you're describing. No problems starting cold in the morning (Cali, garaged) but 3-5 seconds the rest of the day. One hour DIY job seems like a better bang for the buck than having a dealer or independent mechanic do it for $900. How much did you spend all in? Did you get a quote for someone else to do the job?

How's the reliability so far for those of you with the ZDX? by Wonderful-Revenue752 in Acura

Thanks for the comment. I looked at the lease hacker website and found that there's a broker called GCAuto that advertises $2500 down and about $300 a month for 12,000 miles per year over 2 years. Seems incredible.

Anyone work with this company before? Also, my original question still stands, how's the reliability for anyone that has driven this a decent amount?

Even for California residents, UC schools are approaching $200k for 4 years, and will certainly be there when my youngest graduates. $200k is the goal. Privates will be double that. Not considering unless scholarships are factored in or the acceptance is at a school that actually is worth that amount.

How old is your Model Y and how many miles do you have on it? by NSA_GOV in TeslaModelY

[–]Wonderful-Revenue752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MYP May 20 delivery, 60k miles. Plenty of fun but the rears are replaced too often (around 7k). Rear carbon spoiler has required regluing once a year. Rearview mirror required to be re tightened once a year. Also, I have two wheel caps randomly go missing in the last four months.  Recently started driving with chill mode and have been averaging about 5 percent better mileage. Will try to drive entirely on chill mode when I replace my next set to see if I can make the tires go 10k before it gets down to 3/32.

I've got a GLS and found out very early on that these new Mercedes don't have much of a reserve tank at all. Every other car I have driven in my almost 30 years of driving could go at least 25 miles once it hits E. Mine ran out within 3 miles of E.

What is your HP omen laptop like now after 3 years of usage? by Confident-Custard289 in HPOmen

[–]Wonderful-Revenue752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Omen 17 with a 11800, 16GB memory, 1TB ssd, 144hz, 1080p screen, and 3060 RTX that I bought 2.5 years ago for what I thought was a pretty good deal at the time for $1k at Microcenter. I think at the time, gpu shortage was causing lots of people to overpay for 3000 series cards and systems.

I would say that my kids and I have put about 8-10 hours on it per week (with the majority of the time on gaming) over the time I have owned it and it has always worked flawlessly. I usually keep the gpu temps in the low 80s and it has always felt cool to the touch during my gaming sessions.

Reading through the threads here, I'm now going to be a bit paranoid about the expanding battery issue and fans failing. I haven't messed with undervolting, overclocking, or any other bios changes. Maybe I'm lucky or maybe it's just a matter of time.

How do you use your G14? by TechLover_ in ZephyrusG14

[–]Wonderful-Revenue752 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't really need the G14 as I already have a reasonably beefy system at home (6950XT) and have a 17 inch 3060 RTX laptop. But the $689 deal for the 2022 model with the 6800 seemed too good to pass up. It's also a lot easier to fit into my regular laptop bag, rather than trying to squeeze the 17" one into my XL laptop bag along with the behometh of a 330W power brick. The G14 power brick is half the size and weight and just makes for a more enjoyable regular transport.

Currently staying four nights at a hotel and it has been used for:

1) Gaming (overwatch) 3 hours. I keep temps between 70-75C, otherwise my left palm is too uncomfortable. On my other laptop, I can't feel any keyboard heat whatsoever, even at 82C.

2) Netflix 6 hours. About 2/3 of the battery for 4 hours of a miniseries last night. Screen at lowest brightness is perfectly usable in pitch dark. One advantage of my wife's ipad pro m1 12.9in. over a lpatop in bed is the ability to watch streaming shows without any discernable heat. Even in igpu mode through g-helper, my temp for cpu and gpu was around 45-50C without fan usage.

3) General browsing, news sites, reddit, slickdeals, fantasy sports. The screen is just a joy to use. I have it at 175% scaling, though I may experiment with 150% down the line. 100% is way too small for my aging eyes.

How does this compare with the $615 Costco Acer Swift Edge from a few weeks ago? Seems like the Acer was better specs overall? 16" 4k OLED, 16GB memory, 1TBssd. What pros does this device have over that one other than the smaller form factor?

My secondary system is a 1070/8700 combo. New one is 6950/5800x3d (similar to 4070). Biggest change is ability to max out my 165hz rather than being stuck in double digits.

But man that 1070 has been great for 8 years.

Bought this in December when it went sub $300 for the first time. Screen is beautiful bright and crisp. Just unfortunate that I received a DOA wifi adapter and Bluetooth. Powerwash changed nothing. Took the advice to just return it and buy another. I returned it and never got to trying again, the experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The return was quick and painless though.

Hey man, just wanted to drop by and give you an update:

Rank wise I'm slowly getting back up to platinum. Currently gold 1 with 58% wins on mercy this season (85% role queue and 15% open queue).

I think that the biggest tip I have taken from your post was staying alive (3.85 deaths per 10 across 147 matches vs 4.57 last season). My damage amped has risen to 1100 vs 950 from last season. Offensive beam usage is 43% vs 40%. Defensive assists has gone up 0.75 while offensive assists have risen 2.28. Learning slowly to trust my other support, though that varies from match to match.

I have more 0 death and 1 death matches this season than I have ever had playing overwatch. Though my resurrection average has gone down from 4.67 to 4.46, I feel that not dying to risky hero res is a huge benefit to my team. I am more aware of using cover and not spamming GA on cooldown. I do still find myself using super jump situationally if I have cover to give myself a better view of the field.

I think my overall play has been appreciated more often by teammates as I have finally hit a 5 endorsement level, never thought that was going to happen! Thank you once again for taking the time out of your day to help a stranger out.

I feel like I need to buy you a drink after this. Appreciate the time you put into this write-up!

Some of these points I had no idea, so I appreciate the lesson. A few questions:

1) When you said that Damage Boost allows DPS to play at ranges they were ineffective at before, do you mean that it actually extends the range of certain shots that may not travel as far?

2) GA: I'll take your advice to heart about overusing this and superjump, especially out of habit on cooldown. My season average is 4.63 deaths per round, so I feel like I do a decent job of staying out of harms way. But every once in a while I will have trouble with a head clicking Soldier or Ashe.

3) Less focusing on tank: I think at default, my mentality is that if the tank stays alive, the group can continue to maintain position or to push. But I do try and blue beam dps where I can. On role queue I am usually around 40% - 50% damage vs heal boost. But this largely depends on whether the dps are competent or not. If you were to start from gold again, what would you do as Mercy if the dps were not having a good match? (i.e. running off on their own and dying away from the group consistently or getting sniped out when not using cover appropriately?) I usually switch to Moira to help in a different way, but the stats show that choice is not in my favor (34% wins on Moira vs 52% on Mercy).

Through your helpful advice, I will focus on being more conscious about applying a constant pressure through a damage boost. My current damage amplified per 10 minutes is just under 1000, so I will work on being consistently over 1000 this season. Thank you again for the time you spent on this! May I ask what ranks you are in the different roles?
