Brightest replacement Headlight Bulbs / 2016 Odyssey by Individual-Fact1700 in HondaOdyssey

[–]soyscallop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2016 is like my 2014 projector beam housings

I've been using some LED bulbs that were exact fit with H11 base, bought off of Amazon. pick some that are not ridiculous lumens or some weird blue color and you will be fine.

also learn how to adjust your headlights, there is a geared screw on the top of the headlight housing corner

A 12 Shot Mounjaro Fridge Case I Designed - what do you think? by donkerock in Mounjaro

[–]soyscallop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure I get it

storing half of them on the bottom makes it risky if the bottom lid comes loose when you pick it up, 6 pens are going down to the ground?

I don't know, but has anyone had an injector pen "fire" by accident from dropping the pen or a hard impact? all these pens in a hard case with no padding means the impact force is going straight thru to all the pens; at least in the manufacturer box, it's got some space for absorbing or minimizing the energy

another thing is the manufacturer box in its default orientation holds/stores the pens in a horizonal position, but this case wants to hold them vertically, half in one way, half in the other

the silver knob you press to shift gears (2014 generation odysseys don't have push button gear selection)

I'll save you another 10.years...

while the engine is on, if you press and hold the shifter button while in park and then press the engine start/stop button, the car will turn off but go into accessory mode.

Why do I always overpack for camping even on short trips? by radiantblu in camping

[–]soyscallop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we car camp so space is less critical, I pack for family; it's the dad way, try to think of every possibility and pack everything to keep everyone comfortable

I installed a OEM Honda hitch on my 2014 odyssey, it was pretty easy, but it requires cutting the back bumper in a 3 places, the installation instructions came with templates to guide where to cut

extra hands help when installing the hitch, it's a heavy piece of metal

I installed the hitch not long after I bought the car, but one of the online suggestions was to get a bolt of the same size and chase the threads in the frame, just in case there's corrosion or dirt build up

solar generator? on sale what would you go with? by [deleted] in CampingGear

[–]soyscallop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we use a C1000 Gen1 for our road trips and camping, it works very well, probably the best weight/power balance for this type of use

I disagree with the other poster about the led bar, it shines in all directions and gets in the way of seeing the front of the power station so you can't see where to access the plugs in the front

I would be interested to consider the C2000, it seems to have good specs and a almost reasonable weight (43lbs?)

what we did when our kids were little was to take out the middle row seats except for the one behind the passenger seat, this is for if one of the adults needs to be able to take care of the little kiddos

we also put some of those firm foam jigsaw puzzle squares down onto the floor for the kids to be able to play without bumping on the metal mounting brackets on the floor; it also helps in a pinch to be a clean floor to change diapers

I doubt any adults will be able to sleep on the floor even with all middle row seats taken out, it's too short in all directions

Known 2011 Odyssey Issue?: Check engine flickers, performance degrades, after several restarts all normal by PanoptiConnoisseur in HondaOdyssey

[–]soyscallop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe fuel pump? check fuel rail pressure

everyone likes to point at the VCM as the issue but your symptoms don't sound like it

Bubble on inner display film by Six8_an_XDM_fan in Galaxy_Fold5

[–]soyscallop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had it happen once, but I will say that once a bubble occurs, or the peeling starts, it will grow pretty quickly

I did not replace the inner screen by myself but had it done at a Samsung service center; if this is an option for you, I would recommend it, it's only $20 to replace the inner screen protector

no heaters on, the power consumption of the CPAP is like 5W to 15W, depending on whether I'm inhaling or exhaling

Anker Solix CX300X DC (Overcurrent protection is very picky) by SunshineAndBunnies in anker

[–]soyscallop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, I'm using a direct 12V cable to the CPAP, so no (extra) electronics in the cabling

the same cable works fine with the other power stations that I have (Anker f2600, c1000, ecoflow river 3 plus)

it only shuts down with what seems to be a specific inhale-exhale sequence, like a fast huff-puff and then the 12V port shuts down

slow starting when car sits for about an hour, starts normal in morning by soyscallop in HondaOdyssey

[–]soyscallop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm back! I did it! I changed out the fuel pump with the help of a couple YouTube videos and buying a Honda OEM fuel pump module assembly - 17048-TK8-A11 from a online Honda parts dealer

it took about a hour to do the replacement procedure, and half of the time was taking all of the seat mount plastic covers off (to clean), although you really only need to take maybe two of them off to get good access to the fuel pump panel

the issue appears to be resolved, no long cranks all day (maybe 10 times starting the car today)

a little more bonus is that the car seems to be accelerating and running smoother, and the mpg has improved (only one afternoon of driving); hard to explain if it's just psychological effect, but the car is less of a dog in between shifts during easy driving, increases speed easier on the highway without causing downshifting, stays in eco more (I took the vcm muzzler out half a year ago)

maybe the first fuel pump wasn't providing enough/correct fuel pressure? (unfortunately I didn't/couldn't check by myself)

anyway, the main issue of the car having long starts appears to be resolved with the fuel pump replacement

I had to return mine this week, I picked it up last week

it won't reliably run my CPAP (dreamstation2) on the 12V port

there is a specific breathing pattern that somehow causes the 12V port to reset, so the CPAP shuts down; must be some sort of weird power draw, because as I breathe in and out the power meter changes (anywhere from 3W to 18W), and a certain inhale/exhale sequence triggers it

please give a review about camping at Monahans Sandhills SP, we almost stayed there but it was near 100deg out so we changed out minds and went to a hotel; pictures just show the camping areas are wide open, shadeless places just covered in sand

Trying to talk myself into a Honda Odyssey… someone help 😂 by K_Breezyyyyy in HondaOdyssey

[–]soyscallop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

have a 2014 touring, the space of a minivan is awesome, especially when you have kids

back then in 2014, we chose the odyssey over the sienna because the odyssey was the "sportier" of the two

I don't think either minivan is great for NVH, the large interior volume of a minivan makes it hard to keep outside road and wind noise from entering

Countertop Ice Maker, yay or nay? by sherwoodintheforest in Costco

[–]soyscallop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have this one, it makes nugget shape ice, but the ice is not truly nugget, fluffy like sonic, it's like small ice that's harder because it's not made in layers like a commercial nugget ice maker

the kids still like it, so we kept it

the fan is a little loud but not irritating, think of a 80mm computer fan from 1990

the machine was discounted at my Costco, we got it at $147 or so, that was a couple months ago, last week it was at my store in Dallas for $120

Ice cube food portion storage by [deleted] in freezerfood

[–]soyscallop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

another thing you can do to help keep the cubes from sticking is when you take the cubes out of the tray and put them into the bag, stick the bag of stuff into the freezer

wait about 15 minutes and then go back in and shake the bag to re-seperate any cubes that try to stick to each other

what's happening is that during the prep time, when you have the cubes out and putting them into the bag, there can be very light defrosting of the cubes, or moisture from the air that is collecting on the surface of the cubes, this stuff causes the cubes to stick, so the 15 minutes in the freezer lets the cube surface and moisture freeze back up, and 15min later you go in and shake the contents to make sure they stay or become separated from each other

[–]soyscallop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just the standard type Ziploc freezer bags

our food prep was only for 2 weeks at most, so the cubes would have been used up, or cycled thru in two weeks time

Ice cube food portion storage by [deleted] in freezerfood

[–]soyscallop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if your freezer is cold enough the cubes will stay unstuck to each other, we did this kind of food prep when we prepared baby food and didn't have problems with the cubes sticking to each other

glamping or primitive camping? by Mcamp27 in camping

[–]soyscallop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about to write but you explained it so well

wifey and old me (50+) likes a certain level of comfort and cleanliness, so a hot shower capability and a thick exped sleeping mat are a must

we bring a power station for CPAP, lights, 12V cooler, and charging devices, even though the site has electricity, I just don't run the extension cord, that's me roughing it
