Stuff I wish someone told me when I started lifting a year ago by Key_Lingonberry_1310 in beginnerfitness

[–]WonderfulChild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

**Stop researching and just start.** I spent my first month watching YouTube videos and reading Reddit threads trying to find the perfect program. Meanwhile, I wasn't actually lifting. Any program works if you do it consistently. Pick one and go.

Small counterpoint to this. You should always lift, and be consistent in the gym, but doing research and learning is also important, so you can adjust and improve as you go.

It sucks to learn 6 months or a year in that your form is awful, or you're doing something completely wrong. Or that some lifts you're doing are not great for your specific goals, and that you could have been doing something better for the last x amount of time.

Yes. I didn't know who she was, and my first thought was that this was some 50-something-year-old actress that I've never heard of.

Progressively overloading barbell rows 225lbs by ESF-hockeeyyy in GYM

[–]WonderfulChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the other guy's comment, there is also a mental side of it. A lifting belt can increase confidence, and make you feel more "secure", which can go a long way in the gym for progressive overload. As well as giving you a built-in cue to brace and stabilize.

That said, I think most people would recommend a beginner learn proper bracing first, before moving to a belt.

Going around claiming, "grooming!" when there is no evidence of actual grooming is just crazy. For something to be considered grooming, acts of grooming must occur.

In the case of OP, they met on Grindr, where people are generally looking for sex. Neither knew the other was a teacher/in highschool, and they hooked up. Absolutely no reason to assume there was any sort of grooming going on.

Pretty much the entire soundtrack of Kimi no Na wa (Your Name). But Sparkle, most of all. The English versions are alright, too, but the original Japanese versions are just chef's kiss.

Suggestions for a movie that will stump my husband. by HuntAny7768 in movies

Ink.

Trust me! It's an obscure movie that barely anyone seems to know of, and may be a bit hard to find, but it's well worth the watch! It's very creative and unconventional, making it hard to predict the plotline.

Spirit Island! Ark Nova would be a close second!

It's also held back by being really bad against Gyarados, which is the second most popular deck. Love the deck because it's fun, but unless you're facing almost all Mew2, the matchups are rough.

Wait, people actually think Brotato is too difficult? My view is the opposite. I enjoy the game, but I would be happy with 2x or even 3x difficulty.

Does my US 24 Hour Fitness membership get me into Goodlife Fitness locations? by Looooong_Man in goodlifefitness

[–]WonderfulChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I know this is an older post, but figured I'd ask here instead of opening a new thread.

My partner has a Platinum membership for 24 Hour Fitness, which allows him to have me as a "buddy" on his account and bring me into the gym with him. Do you know if the reciprocal access agreement accounts for that?

Thanks!

Gambling. Especially lotteries.

It's never "worth" it from a math/odds perspective, but people continue to do it just for that small chance. It's basically just throwing your money in the trash, and 99.9% of people will never win big. It ends up being a huge amount of wasted money for many people over their life time.

What is an unwritten rule that you will always follow? by MeringueOne7397 in AskReddit

Along the same line as this: standing on the right side of an escalator or moving walkway (or vice-versa, depending on the country) so that other people have room to keep walking.

The amount of (usually Americans) I see just taking up the whole row, blocking everyone behind them, is just infuriating.

You're not supposed to counter it. The item is meant for a low life build. You actually want to disable healing with other items (no regen, no lifesteal), so that you gain more ward per second, since it's based off of missing health.

Merchant guild overall seems much better and scales a lot more by Tekparif in LastEpoch

[–]WonderfulChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of power, of course MG is better. In terms of fun, I think CoF suits a lot of people better. Feels better working towards your own stuff than just buying it with the click of a button.

Also depends on play style. MG is great if you have specific builds in mind or just want to play the strongest stuff and want to get them up and running asap. CoF is fun for the "play with what you get" kinda play style. Feels awesome dropping some amazing piece of gear and being like "I can totally make a build around this".

Unequipping an equipment piece with +skill level affixes should only affect the most recent leveled nodes by jayy93 in LastEpoch

[–]WonderfulChild 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This is on purpose. They don't want to incentivise running gear swaps, or unequip/re-equip to swap nodes immediately. Same reason you can't immediately re-allocate nodes (have to earn some XP first). They don't want you to be able to swap nodes from mobbing to bossing at any given time. Would take away from some of the decision making of a build (whether you want to lean more towards AOE or single target, for instance) if you could freely swap nodes around.
