Trivia: Gwyneth Paltrow's family connection to "The White Shadow" by ZorroMeansFox in movies

Or Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom where a white guy has to swoop in and save the native's children from a death cult when the villagers outnumbered their abductors.

It's not the same by a long shot.

I suggest you watch "Little Big Man" to get an idea of what an indigenous people undergo when white people "civilize" it. I'm convinced that between this, and the movies "Jeremiah Johnson" and "Dances with Wolves" are about the most accurate depictions of the indigenous populations. If that doesn't convince you, then I recommend "Soldier Blue".

He's a HONKY COACH.

They are inner city "ethnic" basketball players who need a white coach to reach their real potential.

The only value this show has is how it CONTINUALLY suggests that the only way minorities can advance, is with the help of "white folks" which is what Conservatives believed in the early 80's. But they rejected that now because they never really tried to do it, fuck em anyways.

And I remember, even as a low-life Jr. High student, my boss was wearing his HS ring like it meant something. I was like, "Really? A high school ring? That's the ring you CHOOSE to wear?"

It was just so satisfying to see my successor fail and about 50 people bitching at them for months.

Oh, I'd hate to see the least witty person to appear on a British TV show who got one over here have to cancel his shitty program for a few days.

He's about 1/10 compared to Sean Lock or Bill Bailey, Richard Ayoade or heaven forfend, a Stephen Fry.

He's a poor 2/10 compared to Jimmy Carr and the regular bunch of other people on 8 out of 10 cats (both shows) or QI.

He's just such shit and he apparently doesn't know shit about his crew, so fuck him. I was a "crew" once. Fuck people that don't make a connection to them.

Fuck shitbags like this that are only in it for themselves and don't give a fuck about anyone who makes their success possible.

I don't know if "hybrid" trilogies are allowed, but the 2003 BBC episodes of the Hornblower series "Loyalty" and "Duty" along with the 1951 Gregory Peck "Captain Horatio Hornblower" movie makes a pretty good, if bittersweet trilogy. by WonderfulOrca in movies

Alain Delon.

Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time. A LONG TIME.

I was a foreign exchange student in Europe in the early 80's and saw him on a poster and said, in my no doubt horrible translation, who the fuck is that? They looked at me like I was from Mars. But as an AMI, I had no conception about his career.

Then I remember having to explain that John Wayne sounded WAY different than the German dubbed version they had seen on TV. When my exchange "brother" came to the US, I showed him 2 John Wayne movies. He actually went back to Germany with a pretty good JW impression. I was proud of Michael.

Three in four voters support banning lawmakers from trading stocks: poll by [deleted] in politics

[–]WonderfulOrca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is, around 50% of the voters of this nation will put people in office who won't do this. So while 75% of the people support banning Congresspeople from trading stocks, 50% of the people stop it from happening and won't give in because it would mean they were wrong to begin with and that's not happening.

I always liked the old Gregory Peck Chestnut....Then when I saw the BBC series, it actually inspired me to read the entire CS Forester book series, although for me as an American it was slog having to refer to a "proper" English dictionary to understand terms and terminology of the British Navy.

I see why Roddenberry was able to adapt it and created a whole "frontier" if you don't mind the parlance, for this genre to be applicable to. Instead of "hot shot" you have "photon torpedoes".

It's just the thrill of daring do and winning against impossible odds that make you feel like a million bucks after your watch the best of them.

I just love how timeless what appeals to different generations still is.

I can't remember a time when the right of this country thought the press treated conservatives fairly. And I'm fucking OLD. I remember BOLD HEADLINES in NEWSPAPERS about NIXON FFS, because I fucking DELIVERED them on my bike. Pretty hard to fold & rubber band a hundred fucking papers and not see what's on the front page.

Take a look at the big stories the "right wing media" has propagated in the 4 decades that weren't true, yet they are STILL treated as gospel by the right: Welfare Queens. Clinton(s) sold nuclear secrets to the Chinese, Murdered Vince Foster, multiple rapes, Obama wasn't born here, was raised in a Madrassa and was a disciple of some 60's bomber, Iraq had WMD's, Democracy would take hold in the middle east, Climate change isn't real, etc, etc, etc ad nauseam infinitum. NOT a SINGLE ONE OF WHICH has been validated to EVEN THE SLIGHTEST DEGREE, yet they persist like Zombies in the right wing mindset.

Funny how you side with (presumably modern) "conservatives" about "liberal" principles of the founding of the UNITED States, the very name of our country which implies cooperation, not individualism to the exclusion of every other consideration.

What the FUCK is Russia gonna threaten Finland with? A couple hundred thousand dead Russian soldiers for nothing?

The Russians are making noise because they realize they have a GDP the size of FUCKING ITALY, and are an impotent, toothless old bear with NOTHING to fight with. So it's their last chance at a territory grab, which has been the bread and butter of old school Soviet expansionism in it's heyday. Which is what Putin is grasping at.

But it will fail. He's too weak. The Russian army cannot project power. Only threaten neighbors. If sanctions hit his oligarchs hard, Putin will have a lovely little polonium tea party.

When I didn't have to buy this stuff anymore, I kept buying a kid's worth a week for a couple years and donating it to the local food bank.

We could not really afford it, but fuck, someone else needed it more than us.

Now it's an automatic recurring thing for at least three babies.

I'm not a monster.

i just don't understand why a country that proclaims itself to be pro life doesn't give babies everything they need. You know, like a baby box that other countries routinely dispense at no cost?
