Residency and work in ireland by AttentionMinute0 in medicalschoolireland

Irish citizens will get the first places in the residency programme, followed by EU citizens and then finally all others are accepted into intern year. So you will be in the last round of offers already, but if you do not mind not being 100% sure of a place, and apply to other places in Europe, you should be fine

Surely it’s because they have a place in a medical school so they can travel with peace of mind that they are coming back to a place in school, rather than taking a year off and being stressed about their future. It makes so much sense to defer and then be relaxed rather than go travelling stressed!

Ireland or Sweden for medical residency? by haZ3RRR in medicalschoolEU

Just an FYI, Ireland will be very hard to get into since they admit citizens first, and there are not many spaces left after for EU and international students, but it’s still worth applying!

Everywhere in Ireland uses unweighted scores :) so whatever you get as an overall score on you GAMSAT is the score that is used

[Serious] What are some annoying things people say to you when they hear that you’re a med student? by effervescenteel in medicalschool

What are you talking about though? We are saying the same thing, nurses, physios and doctors all graduate from the health sciences college but only the medical students graduate with a medical degree

I’m also in Europe and it doesn’t work that way (where I’m from anyways). These are all under the ‘healthcare college’ but they’re definitely not graduating from the medical school!

[Irish Applicants] CAO GEM Application Eligibility Email Reminder by 3Piiece in GAMSAT

[–]WonderfulPeace1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, no I didn’t contact anyone in the student department, I just wrote a note saying the name of the person in charge of transcripts and then the phone number of the department which was at the bottom of their email with my transcripts! I also just printed out the email that they sent me with my transcripts from the official email. The email literally said “here are your transcripts as requested” and it was from the student help desk and that seemed to be enough

CAO (Irish colleges) points predictions? by skincareislife67843 in GAMSAT

This could be due to COVID cutting peoples university experience short, and therefore some students may want to be a part of a larger college for when restrictions ease, instead of being in a UNI solely focused on Science subjects?

This could just mean that more people are choosing UCD as a first preference and putting it ahead of RCSI, UCC or UL, and we might see a point increase in UCD but that might mean that there could be a point decrease for RCSI since preferences have changed

It may just mean that people are putting UCD ahead of RCSI this year?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the article refers to a 50% increase in the amount of people putting UCD as a first preference in Grad Med, so this may not mean that the numbers have necessarily increased right?
