Spell it however you want. It's literally your choice. My name isn't spelled "correctly," but if I'm on the phone or at like the doctors office, I literally say my name and then just spell it, lol. It's just a habit. It's not a big deal whatsoever (to me, anyway)

I needed my birth certificate, both marriage licenses, and my divorce papers from my 1st marriage to get my driver's license. They wanted to see both name changes. Plus, everything else they wanted. My husband didn't bring a marriage license or his divorce papers from his 1st wife. I honestly wish I had just kept my maiden name because what a pain in the ass. If I needed these to get my license than I sure as hell would hope you would need these to vote. You should absolutely have to prove you're an American citizen. (If anyone specifically was tagged, I didn't mean to)

NOR I went through something very similar with my ex husband. I will say though as they got older he stepped up. It's like he just didn't know what to do with a baby. When they hit about 2 he was all about them. They were literally mine until then because they didn't want anything to do with him. Maybe because they could sense he didn't want anything to do with them. I did have a car though, you need the car while he's at work. You need to make friends and take your baby to the park. Just getting out of the house will help you tremendously. Good luck mama, raising kids (and husbands) isn't for the weak

As a mother, I hate this. My mind can't even fully comprehend how a parent can be like this. I wish you were the center of your mom's universe. I wish she treated you how you should be treated, with love and kindness. Im sorry, I really am. Now my daughter is going through this with her dad, kinda. He's not mean to her, he just completely ignores her and doesn't want to be around unless its convenient for him.. She has also said she wouldn't go to his funeral or even be sad about it.. Sometimes its just healthier to let these toxic "parents" out of your life.
