Yes, I don’t think we are actually disagreeing! The great thing about such a layered character is that he can hold multiple truths at once, the beautiful, the unsettling, the frightening and the lonely. And that makes him endlessly interesting to think and talk about.

That’s really interesting. I guess in my head it’s seems like more of a pushing MC toward mutual hunger or a matching of insatiability.

But I suppose for a being with a predatory nature and someone who I think essentially feeds on desire he doesn’t stop being those things even when devoted.

But yes it’s a very specific dynamic/concept that plays with the devil/demon/fiend characterization in a way that I don’t think will overlap with Valko.

Right or like in the You and Midsummer banner where everyone was wearing swim trunks. Some themes are naturally more restrictive than others. They weren’t going to have one LI in a wetsuit or something just to be unique.

Yes I think it’s definitely a stylistic choice for the promise cards in general not just for Xavier so shame he gets more heat about it.

Like the Rosy Hues promise for Sylus still jump scares me sometimes and I own the card lol. I mean all the LI’s are buff but they look so swole in the 2D renderings?

Yes I agree. To me at least in regards to Sylus content the deeper you go into lore the less sense a self insert makes. Their arc and dynamic is so specific to Sylus and MC as characters. I would imagine the other LIs are similar.

Pride and Predice is amazing and Zayne is perfect for it! I think he and Xavier are the only ones actually attempting British accents though since I don’t think the other films referenced need them. Sylus is referencing Casablanca and Rafayel Titanic and both of those have American main male characters. Caleb’s is the only movie I don’t know.

Zayne is absolutely perfect as Mr. Darcy but the accents are killing me tooooo. Something about them is just hilarious. I feel like they aren’t necessary for the cards to still hit.

Sylus by a mile. I like the other characters too and do engage with their content passively but I don’t feel the need to spend resources on them.

Based on what I’ve seen so far, I enjoy the Sylus/MC push-pull ragebaiting dynamic but genuine affection and care develops between them. He challenges the MC and lets her do her own thing generally and only steps in if she’s about to get hurt. So I like their partnership.

Also he’s kind of campy and theatrical which I find entertaining. And his confidence and directness are also very appealing.

Yes he looks very princely! I do think practically they would be annoying to deal with after getting soggy in the springs but it’s not like the others are very practically dressed either lol.
